View Full Version : The Official "Why do we have This section"
Daniel Jones 12-12-2005, 11:08 AM With all of the topics that have been posted on this, it seems like we should all sum it up into one thread. It'd be nice to have a sticky on this as you see fit.
1.) What is a Christian skateboarder? A Christian skateboarder is simply a Christian that skates.
2.) Why do we have a forum on this? The majority of the users in this forum are Christians. Dogtown (the owner of the site) saw fit to make this section, so what he says goes. And just like he always says, "As long as I'm paying the bills, we're keeping this section." It's just a place for people who skate, and are Christians to come talk about their faith and recieve encouragement and discuss things.
3.) What's different about a normal skater and a Christian skateboarder? Oftentimes Christian skaters give the glory to God, rather than themselves. This means they give credit to God for allowing them these skills. Other than that, there's really no difference.
You can discuss the subject in this thread, but please don't make any more on the subject. Hope that clears things up a bit!
skate4God 12-12-2005, 11:25 AM Awesome Daniel! Ill make it a sticky.
sk8pnk2006 12-12-2005, 02:30 PM that was good DJ!
Fremry 12-12-2005, 02:35 PM Daniel, you should be able to sticky threads yourself. Go to thread tools: Stick thread.
For those who are still uptight about this christian section, come discuss your thoughts in my stomping ground for other religions located here. (http://www.skaterscafe.com/forumdisplay.php?f=214)
jraice 01-14-2006, 11:01 PM as long as you guys keep it clean (no discrimination) I dont care.
donthatejustsk8 01-24-2006, 08:32 PM i think its awesome to have skateboarding in your life and to give the glory to God.

I can make stickies, but at the time of posting this I was a brand new mod, and I don't have mod-ship over the Christian forum, so I didn't want to go usurping authority or anything if they didn't think it was neccesary. :D
Etnieskater 01-25-2006, 08:25 PM great guide daniel. i am not a christian myself, but even us non christians should'nt just give all the glory to ourselfs.
GoodWood 01-25-2006, 08:27 PM faith plays a major part in my skating
HelmetBoy 01-31-2006, 12:32 PM same with me christian music is too. i'm new to this site.
Daniel Jones 01-31-2006, 02:07 PM ^Yeah, for sure.
Where do you live? What state? I live in Indiana, and noticed you said you lived in the midwest.
HelmetBoy 01-31-2006, 03:14 PM I live in iowa it's so BORING!!
great idea to make this, well done.
PASkateGuy 03-30-2006, 08:32 AM New to the forums here. I think it is awesome that there are so many Skaters willing to display their faith. My prayers are with you all.
feedmegrease 04-23-2006, 04:39 AM Thanks DJ. Now people dont have to gripe about why this forum is here.
Bender 06-29-2006, 09:53 AM I'm a Christian. I'm just not a Christian Skater. Do you get what i mean?
DUDE THIS IS SICK! i'm christian too, but i never knew that ppls here are Xian. XD sweeeet. i've come to the right place. haha.
toyMACHINE 08-29-2006, 04:22 AM very well put, but if we have christian skateboarders, then shouldnt we have agnostic and athiest skateboarding sections as well.

i see nothing wrong with people giving credit to god for allowing them there skills. but should you be proud of yourself and give yourself some credit for having those skills. cause your the one learning the tricks and taking the time to do it right

I see what you mean, I used to think the same thing before I found Christ. Christian skaters should give the glory to God for allowing them to have the ability to skate, because some people are born with health problems or some other kind of problems and therefore don't have the ability to skate.
EDIT: Wow. Sorry didn't realize nobody has posted here in a while
pbsk8er15 01-24-2007, 06:59 PM im a Christian skater and i think its the best

This is unfair. There are way more Christians than any other religion here in the United States.
Er... So just Christians are allowed to post here?

really ? christians skaters are better? better at what? being Christian or being skaters? and howcome we only have a christians skaters thing and not a jewish skaters or muslim skaters. is it because CHRISTIANS ARE BETTER? im not trying to be rude but thats jus kinda wierd
Tyler Self 06-12-2007, 10:02 PM We only have a Christian skater section because that's the way Ray set it up. If you don't like it, take it up with him. We have an "Other religious topics" section under the religion and politics section.
jakedaskater 06-12-2007, 10:03 PM okay cool, thats what i wanted to know
Marevix 07-10-2007, 11:41 PM Why can't we have a "Religious Skaters" forum? IMO, it's a bit selective to completely exclude all other faiths that influence their skating.
darkslide 07-10-2007, 11:58 PM We did. It was ran by Fremry. I think we still do but it just vanished though.
new_skater99 01-27-2008, 06:36 PM that definitely didnt answer my question on the thread i made. why is it CHRISTIAN and not other religions? yes it might be the assumed majority on the site, but you're still excluding other religions which is not fair. also, what is the point of putting those two together? why not make a section for skaters who listen to rock music? or skaters who have long hair? or skaters who like pizza? this section is pointless and acts as a barrier between Christians and non Christians on the site, which is probably the worst thing in my opinion about religion in general (the way it separates people.)

I am a Christian, but as much as i would like to believe that it sounds way to ignorant.
that's like saying, "no muslims skateboard"

Because that is the way the owner of this site made it. This isn't seperation of church and state, this is a privately owned forum.

I wanna punch you
Your religion does not define how good you are
YOU DO, and if you chose to thank god for YOUR hard word and perserverance, go for it
but just don't say that because they are christians they are automatically better
j250nyahweh 03-05-2008, 02:56 PM ^ I totally agree, there are a lot of Christian pros (Jamie Thomas, Chad Muska to name a couple) but to say that being Christians is what makes them better is rather upsetting... I'm a Christian myself and was pretty taken back by that statement. We attribute the ability to skate or do anything to God but there's talented people of every belief because God doesn't show preferential treatment when it comes to athletic ability.
S.L. Guitar Man 05-06-2008, 10:41 PM ^ christian skaters would be the best, they just have to sell their soul to the devil. lol
hey, it works for musicians
Louwio 05-11-2008, 09:23 PM skateboarding = a disregard for life just in case you guys forgot, due to the fact your putting yourself in harms way, same with sports , i would not put the two together skating + god. then again its about your own consious
also if christian skateboarders were better then normal ones, then god would be partial and we'd all be screwed
