View Full Version : Freestyle Game of Skate Discussion Thread
Tony W. 04-05-2006, 01:12 AM I'd like to say no, but I'll let it pass since you just learned it and all. At least I got you to go out and try it :)
My exact location will remain a secret. But I'll tell you that I don't live anywhere near you.
Necromortis 04-05-2006, 01:22 AM ^Meh, that sucks. If I get better I'd like to skate with your sometime (by better I mean much better).
I intend to perfect the trick, so if it gets any better and I catch it on film, I'll post it up. But I doubt I'll be able to skate for a few days, my life is hectic right now.
Glad it counted :).
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 04-08-2006, 01:07 PM a few hours left for people who havent matched, etnieskater, your up next to set man, after 9:00
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-08-2006, 09:42 PM Matched.
Daniel Jones 04-08-2006, 10:29 PM ^You have a real smooth style. Props.
Necromortis 04-09-2006, 12:38 AM Argh, I was seriously hoping that that set would get you. BTW, I had to learn it switch as well, it's a pain.
Ok, times up (sorry, I'm half and hour late, but I've been skating for 12 hours, and I had a really brilliant day (I'm making a thread about it later). Anyway, times up, Etnieskater, you have until 10 April 2006 9:30 PM PST to set your trick.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-09-2006, 02:50 AM Hahaha well I appreciate it.
Good stuff.
arto-geoff 04-09-2006, 07:58 AM Is there any chance I can post up my match now? I was staying in a friends last night and he dosnt have internet connection so i couldnt upload it then :(
Necromortis 04-09-2006, 11:46 AM Mmmm...it's Tony W.'s call, PM him.
~Necro
Etnieskater 04-09-2006, 12:52 PM ok dudes...man this is killing me, I have no time to put videos on the computer except for school which i cant bring my dads digi cam, and I had that last trick down but w/e. im going to purswade him to let me put film on his labtop to get the set up...im still wondernig on what to do, I probably wont know the name of the trick and it will probably be an easy weird one lol
arto-geoff 04-09-2006, 12:53 PM ****, i got chucked off my pc. can i please upload this? I got it filmed like 2 days ago, ill pm tony but first ill stick it on putfile.
ahh just looking at it now i dont think itll even count anyway because it under rotates alot and i do more of a body varial :(
Tony W. 04-09-2006, 11:07 PM Sorry, I don't think it counts. Nice try though.
arto-geoff 04-10-2006, 05:33 AM Thats okay then, at least I tried.
Necromortis 04-11-2006, 11:56 AM Etnieskater missed his set, it's Arto-Geoff's turn now.
~Necro
arto-geoff 04-11-2006, 12:24 PM Ill get my set filmed now.
Necromortis 04-11-2006, 02:33 PM Hey man, my board is a freestyle board, and it has just about no concave. Therefore, it can't roll, so I have to flip it both ways. It's fine on a street board, but anyone with a freestyle board can't roll the deck for Rail to Rail.
So I think as long as it's a HS Rail -> TS Rail -> HS Rail -> Railflip, it's fine.
~Necro
arto-geoff 04-11-2006, 02:34 PM Yeah, i hadnt though of that, alright, just flip it both way and that'll be sweet.
Necromortis 04-11-2006, 02:38 PM Ok cool. By the way, the footage isn't working for me. Any chance of getting it onto YouTube or something?
Or, you could just tell me, is it a HS Rail to TS Rail to HS Rail to 3/4 Railflip (straight back)?
~Necro
arto-geoff 04-11-2006, 02:43 PM I cant even explain it mate, its random as ****, ill just stick it on youtube now.
Necromortis 04-11-2006, 02:53 PM Ok cool. Thanks.
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 04-11-2006, 03:02 PM its a hs rail to ts rail to hs rail to a rail kickflip, no varial
arto-geoff 04-11-2006, 03:16 PM Youtube version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db3CmKgyOKo
Sorry it took a while it had to process.
Necromortis 04-11-2006, 03:24 PM No problem. Watching now. Ok, I get it.
Cool, I can do that :)
~Necro
Etnieskater 04-12-2006, 01:30 PM railstand, railstand, railstand, flip.
If i of had a comptuer to put my footage on i would uploaded it...heres what i did:
flipped the board to land upside down I had my board upside down, flipped it landed back upside down, to heelside railstand, to flip out lol.
Necromortis 04-12-2006, 10:58 PM I got it filmed...Don't even start me on my camera. I got it twice, but because I'm using a digital camera to film instead of a camcorder, it has a three minute limit - and it cut off two really clean attempts (although the second one wasn't exactly the combo, it was a HS Rail to Rail -> TS Rail to Rail -> HS Rail full flip to HS rail -> Railflip out). But I finally got it.
I also put in a Varial Single Flip at the end...just for our friend Daniel, who's been bugging me to see a Varial Rail or a Varial Double Railflip.
Anyway, YouTube is processing it now, I'll post it in the Tricks thread when I'm done.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-13-2006, 11:20 PM My match is up on the thread.
Necro inspired me for this vid....lol.
-Brett-
Necromortis 04-14-2006, 12:30 AM I inspired you? What? I guess I'll see what you mean when I see it.
~Necro
EDIT:
I do not like you...
Was that a Cooper Double Flip? How do you keep those damn things straight? And your Varial Flip to Rail wasn't as cool as the Cooper Railflip.
By the way, I loathe you and your street board. This trick is so much harder on a Freestyle Deck...one of the few freestyle tricks that are.
I loathe you too btw ;)
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 04-14-2006, 11:05 AM ok, i posted my match
lazerflip 04-15-2006, 11:21 AM Hmmm. I do not like you rail flip kids.
*Goes off to skate pools and bowls the rest of his life*
Jk. I guess I lose, you guys are too good for me.
Stevie Hunt 04-15-2006, 03:14 PM naa man dont think like that, just abit of practise thats all, any tips you need dont be afraid to ask..
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-16-2006, 03:41 AM I inspired you? What? I guess I'll see what you mean when I see it.

Hahahaha you know you love me.
lazerflip 04-16-2006, 11:30 AM naa man dont think like that, just abit of practise thats all, any tips you need dont be afraid to ask..
No man, it's more that I dislike rail flips, to me they are the handraisl of freesyle, too much emphasis is put on them and they are too "staple" for my tastes so I don't wanna learn railflips all that much.
Necromortis 04-16-2006, 02:23 PM Ok, I'm thinking times just about up on this one...although it might end at two today, I don't know. I have to go check my signature somewhere...
Ok, it actually ends in half an hour. So far, I think lazerflip might be going out (unless he films/posts his trick in the next half hour, which is doubtful).
~Necro
Daniel Jones 04-16-2006, 02:28 PM My camera totally screwed over on this one, and it's been raining, and I've been busy.
So embarrasingly enough, I guess I'll take a letter on it, even though I can do them just about first try every time. :(
Necromortis 04-16-2006, 02:34 PM Laughs maniacally. Daniel is no longer too good for our tricks. Muahahahahahahaha.
Ok I'm sorry :)
~Necro
Daniel Jones 04-16-2006, 03:12 PM ^We'll see who's laughing when I put up my next set!!
Etnieskater 04-16-2006, 03:59 PM id love to see your next set daniel lol :p, I guess im out too..easter weekend with no computer because of no school sucks. and your not gonna see me in anymore competitions for awhile. its been fun dudes...oh yea i can do the trick to ;)
Necromortis 04-16-2006, 04:28 PM Ok guys, times up.
Etnieskater, Lazerflip, and Daniel get a letter, which puts Etnieskaterand lazerflip out of the game, and Daniel tied with me and Brett...
Tony and dead sparrow are still too good for our tricks. Blegh.
Brett, it's your turn to set, you have until 1:30 PM PST on April 18th.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-18-2006, 01:50 AM Set posted.
Necromortis 04-18-2006, 03:20 AM You
Are
The
Devil.
~Necro
Sarge 04-18-2006, 12:01 PM hahaha, i smell letters.
man, i havent done those cooper railflips in years.
Daniel Jones 04-18-2006, 12:24 PM I can do the two apart, but putting them together might pose a problem for me. I'll try it.
Tony W. 04-18-2006, 02:57 PM Good set. I too haven't done cooper flips in a while. I'll need to brush up on those.
Necromortis 04-18-2006, 06:41 PM Occasionally I can Varial one and a half railflip to rail, and I can do those Cooper flips. If I get the Varial Flip more solid, I might try this, but I think stringing them together is going to be a pain.
This trick is way beyond most of our skill levels...damnit :P
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-19-2006, 03:45 AM LoL well thats what ya get for starting me out with a letter lol.
But seriously its not that hard of a combo. The cooperflip is the easiest part so Id focus most the time on rail flip to rail. Like I said, this was the easier combo of what I was going to put up - Trust me, its really not that hard.
And besides, you'd be amazed at how much harder the last set was for me than this combo ever was.
Necromortis 04-19-2006, 12:37 PM Some people are just bad at railflips, and some are just good at them. The thing is I think that this trick is above my skill level, but I'll work on it tomorrow (I'm too sore to skate today...unless I drink a few energy drinks, which I'll probably end up doing).
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-22-2006, 05:44 AM Hows everyone doin for this one?
Necromortis 04-22-2006, 05:54 AM Not...
Well...
At...
All.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-22-2006, 10:27 PM Am I going to be banished for this one?
:icon_bigg
Necromortis 04-23-2006, 03:10 AM No, but I'm taking a letter. I hurt my hip today trying this damn trick. The Double Cooper is easy, but I can't seem to land the 1.5 Varial Flip to Rail. I always land with my front foot on the wheel and my back foot just hanging off the wheel, so the board flops down. Damnit!
By the way, I noticed you forgot the sign. Please include it when you film your matches and sets in the future.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-23-2006, 11:49 AM The signs in there. Its in between the two tricks. I land the railflip to rail, crouch down a bit- flash the sign and then do the cooper flip.
arto-geoff 04-23-2006, 02:20 PM I cant get this :(. Looks like its A for me.
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-25-2006, 02:32 AM ....lol this eerie recent silence scares me....Whered everyone go?
Daniel Jones 04-25-2006, 06:57 AM I think we all forgot about this, man. In all honesty I totally forgot about your set, so I missed it. Who's even up anyways?
Stevie Hunt 04-25-2006, 10:12 AM im here, yea, i tred your set, i combo like that was to mean to put together. i take a s, but i will get this combo.
Necromortis 04-25-2006, 10:37 AM Ack! Game of Skate!
Sorry guys, I'm in the process of moving, so I forgot about this.
I'll update my signature at school (everyone gets a letter except Tony right?). I'll get my set up soon.
Sorry guys :(
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 04-26-2006, 05:38 PM hey necro , you filmed your set yet ?
Necromortis 04-26-2006, 07:34 PM Filming it just now. It'll be up by the due date (tomorrow at 7:37 AM PST) unless something goes wrong with my computer.
~Necro
Ok guys, the set is up.
This is slightly confusing, so here's the explanation. The movie has five tricks in it. It ends about one fourth into the actual YouTube movie, because for some reason YouTube also uploaded the raw footage (I'm still getting hang of Vegas 6.0).
Anyway, the trick that's for you guys is the second one - the Gymnast Plant to Rail to Crossfooted landing.
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 04-27-2006, 04:56 AM nice one man, just one question do we star the gym plant from a tail stop because i counldn't see how you got into it.
Necromortis 04-27-2006, 10:32 AM *Watches movie*
It looks like I actually did it from rail...but either way is fine by me.
~Necro
Sarge 04-27-2006, 11:17 AM its easier from the rail
thats a nice trick, im not even that good at gymnast plant - rails
Stevie Hunt 04-27-2006, 11:34 AM i have never tryed landing one in a rail before so i'll practise latter, im glad you set this trick because i always had my own style in a gymplant and know it gives me a reason to learn it this way.
arto-geoff 04-27-2006, 12:18 PM Haha, I guess im gonna have to learn how to handstand sooner than id thought. Nice set mate!
Tony W. 04-27-2006, 07:00 PM I'll take a letter on this one. Handstands scare me to death on the grass, let alone on croncrete on my board.
Necromortis 04-27-2006, 07:03 PM ^YES! I was gambling on that one. Tony is no longer TO GOOD FOR OUR TRICKS!
*Does the happy dance*
I swear, one of these days, I'm going to pull a Gymnast Plant Varial Fingerflip, catch the board, bring it back to rail, and then do something. And I will idolize myself.
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 04-28-2006, 01:49 PM hey, is anyone else having trouble with put-file, i just filmed the match and putfile isnt uploading it, it keeps saying it times out,
also i think my coming down from a gym plant was really sketchy, when i landed in the rail both of my hands were on the ground still as i landed, not sure if it counts or not.. i do hope to post it soon when put file wants to work..
arto-geoff 04-28-2006, 03:10 PM Man, im getting so close to doing handstands on the ground. If I land this it'll be a miracle. At least ive got the weekend to learn it.
Necromortis 04-28-2006, 03:18 PM Sparrow: You shouldn't let go of the board at all, you should come down, and land with one hand on the ground. If you could manage to do it like that, that would be great.
Arto: It's a fun trick :)
~Necro
Tyler Self 04-30-2006, 12:45 PM Was not bad Daniel, good job. I'm gonna try to learn this trick...see if I can hold my own in the next game of Freestyle Skate.
Tony W. 04-30-2006, 01:51 PM Yeah, Daniels was really good.
BRETTNOVAKcom 04-30-2006, 02:07 PM Smooth Match Daniel.
Good set by the way Necro.
Daniel Jones 05-02-2006, 11:18 AM You're up, Dead Sparrow. Everyone gets a letter except Necro, dead sparrow, and I.
Necromortis 05-02-2006, 11:47 AM Woot, go us! I'll update my signature now.
~Necro
Daniel Jones 05-02-2006, 12:25 PM If you guys don't like handstands you won't much like my set... :(
In my defense, I'd been planning it for like a week or so before I knew about your set, Necro.
Anyways, can't wait to see what your set is dead sparrow.
arto-geoff 05-02-2006, 12:55 PM ^Lol, then im screwed, curse my inability to handstand!!
Necromortis 05-02-2006, 03:41 PM I love Handstands. I want to see your set Daniel :)
~Necro
ZooYork88 05-02-2006, 04:08 PM wow....ummm watz goinn onnn
Necromortis 05-02-2006, 04:43 PM ^The game is already in progress. You can't join right now.
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 05-02-2006, 06:49 PM hey, man i feel really bad, when i saw your sig i thourt i read i had time to set before 9pm but it actully says 9am, a few days ago i filmed some plan sets one was a rolling fakie casper, which i really didnt want to set but i guess i have no choice, i really did wanna film a rolling casper big spin, but i cant so my set is just a fakie casper....
Necromortis 05-02-2006, 07:23 PM Oo that sucks. I'm happy though, because this is a trick I can actually do :)
I'll get my match filmed soon enough.
~Necro
Sk8tenBro4Life 05-03-2006, 11:25 AM Dude you know what sucks?............I was skating with my friend......and he beat me in skate by doin a Varial Heelflip....<DN:) I don't know what happened but I think my foot slipped off the board when it was on the ground..........{bh)
Skate 4 Fun 05-03-2006, 11:38 AM what does that have anything to do with this game you are kinda spamming a bit
Tony W. 05-03-2006, 07:28 PM I was a little worried for a second. I thought, "Where'd the thread go?!"
No more gymnast plants. You're putting a limb on the ground so it's a cheap trick. Plus I can't do them :)
Necromortis 05-03-2006, 08:12 PM Ahahaha, there will be more Gymnast Plants...And maybe a rolling handstand...or maybe a handstand flip...or maybe a Yo-Yo plant. I can't decide which to do yet.
~Necro
Necromortis 05-06-2006, 09:10 PM I've got my set filmed, just gotta edit it, upload it, etc. I'll do that tonight.
~Necro
Daniel Jones 05-06-2006, 09:27 PM My match is up.
Necromortis 05-06-2006, 11:38 PM Mine is as well.
~Necro
Daniel Jones 05-06-2006, 11:53 PM Oh, I'm not funny you...you...YOUR FOOT TOUCHED!
Necromortis 05-07-2006, 12:00 AM Actually, it didn't. It's such a wierd angle.
And by the way, I'm incredibly angry at my filmer, I had a perfect one, and he ****ing turned off the camera before the handsign.
Anyway, my foot DIDN'T touch. Plus, it's a new deck, so my caspers feel so 'right.'
Daniel, get on AIM!
~Necro
eYe 180 DRAGON 05-07-2006, 12:39 PM hey man i saw your match, it really did look like your foot touched the floor...
Daniel Jones 05-07-2006, 07:47 PM Actually, I slowed it down again and again, and I really don't think it did. I think the side of his board did, but if you look at shadows and all that, I doubt it. I just like giving him a hard time. :D
Oh, and Chris...I'm on AIM now. I landed a handstand walk down a four set today!
Tony W. 05-07-2006, 10:01 PM Guess I'm a little too late eh? I thought for some reason the time limit was until 9:00PM. It's light out longer now so you know how it messes with your sense of time.
Necromortis 05-07-2006, 11:24 PM ^Actually, I still think that 4 means 4, not nine ;)
Hehehe, no I get you. I decided not to be an ass and ban BrettNovak's match (2 minutes past the deadline), but I can't really push it to three hours late.
That's two letters for you mate ;)
~Necro
Tony W. 05-08-2006, 09:52 PM Ah, no problem. I was thinking of the F forum game of skate when you said you had until 9AM to set your trick, then I turned it into 9PM to match a trick on this forum. I can't always trust myself sometimes.
But you have to admit, it seemed like all of a sudden, the day was longer.
Necromortis 05-08-2006, 11:41 PM ^That it definitely was. I love that though, it's not dark when I get home from school now :D
~Necro
Daniel Jones 05-09-2006, 11:12 AM Set is up...handstand railflip!
Stevie Hunt 05-09-2006, 01:35 PM just seen your set man, very nice, i can usally can get up in these but i have never fliped out of it before, when i used to do them i always brung them down to casper.. should be intresting
Necromortis 05-09-2006, 03:46 PM Yeah, I've been independantly working on this trick for a few days now, but I still can't get it.
Good set, I think I just might be able to get it. I hurt my leg yesterday though, so I don't know what's going to happen :D
~Necro
Tony W. 05-09-2006, 10:09 PM Daniel, do you have any idea how lame that is? :) I'll be taking another letter on your handstand tricks... just wait until I get my set up. It'll be much harder than the last. Muahaha!
Necromortis 05-09-2006, 10:14 PM You're evil :P
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-10-2006, 12:53 AM Ya. Same. I was going to go much easier this time around but not so sure anymore. Im not a fan of this trick. I used to have it down good until one bad alone visit to a parking garage turned having my back bent all the way - the wrong way.....
Not a fan....
Necromortis 05-10-2006, 01:21 AM Damn dude, you're last trick was insanely hard, and you want to go harder?
Blegh, if I make it to the next round, looks like I'm going to have to step it up a bit :P
~Necro
Daniel Jones 05-10-2006, 11:23 AM Daniel, do you have any idea how lame that is? :) I'll be taking another letter on your handstand tricks... just wait until I get my set up. It'll be much harder than the last. Muahaha!
In my defense I'd planned and filmed this trick a week or two before Necros.
Tony W. 05-10-2006, 03:31 PM I'm just joking. If anything it's my fault for not knowing how to handstand in the first place.
Necromortis 05-11-2006, 12:50 PM Guys, I have a problem.
I hurt my leg, so I can't push up from rail like Daniel wants me too. However, I can start off the board. I talked to Daniel, and he said it was cool if I started off the board (he said he'd grant me an exception because of my leg), but I wanted to check with you guys first.
Is it cool or no?
~Necro
lazerflip 05-11-2006, 03:39 PM In my defense I'd planned and filmed this trick a week or two before Necros.
I can provide evidence! He told me about it over AIM that he was planning on setting that trick a month ago.
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-11-2006, 05:24 PM Well Im cool with it, but on the other hand thats the main reason I couldnt do the last trick. I couldnt bend my leg that much to get to rail from a hand plant. Same deal with this trick - my knees wont let me do it for the same reason. In case you dont know what Im talking about - Ive broken my knees over 13 times.
Either way- where Im going with this comment: If youre going to get slack for it, thats cool, just I wouldnt be against the idea of me getting the same treatment.
Necromortis 05-11-2006, 07:10 PM Your knees don't bend? That sucks. But in order to kick out to get the flip, your knees NEED to bend. Can you do it starting off the board?
Meh, hopefully people aren't against this.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-11-2006, 10:05 PM Well its not that they dont bend. They just dont bend quickly, or that much at all. I used to be damn good at this trick (as well as the normal rolling handstand flip out) but that was a few "breakings" ago.
I can definitely get into handstand and hold one from standing normally. Handstands dont scare me at all, its the the whole getting from rail doesnt quite work anymore.
Whatever, maybe Ill just take the letter again -it wouldnt be a big deal but I started with a handicap of one automatic letter so it kinda sucks to take anymore.
Like I said, we'll see.
-Brett-
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-15-2006, 01:42 AM Dude Necro...not to be one of the guys that says something like this but....I watched your clip like a thousand times and I dont see one where your foot doesnt touch. The middle trick (the one you dont flash the sign) looks like you just popped a handstand, jumped and flipped - landed your feet on the ground and then stepped onto the board.
Maybe its just me but in all fairness I dont think it would be way out of the question to refilm that (without the window behind you cuz it silhouttes you out) if youre not going to take a letter on that one.
Just my two-cents is all....its your game though.
Necromortis 05-15-2006, 10:27 AM I talked to a variety of people, who all said it was fine. Daniel (it's actually his call, it's his set) said it'd be fine if no one objected by the deadline *shrug*
Ordinarily, I wouldn't have an objection, but I cut my left foot AGAIN, and my leg still hasn't healed completely. I'm trying not to skate often (if at all) so I can heal quicker.
Lo siento.
Anyway, it's Tony W.'s turn to set. Setify!
~Necro
Necromortis 05-16-2006, 10:50 PM Well it looks like Tony's going to miss his set.
Brett's set in 25 minutes.

RubberOnion 05-17-2006, 10:44 AM As an impartial observer, I'd have to give Necro a letter for that handstand rail flip. It simply wasn't the same trick. Sorry. Even if you did start from the board, it still wasn't the same.
Necromortis 05-17-2006, 10:55 AM Yes, you're quite right. It was a more advanced version of the trick.
Anyway, Tony missed his set, so it's Brett's set.
~Necro
Tony W. 05-17-2006, 07:09 PM I'm on my way out aren't I?! If someone sets a lame handstand trick, I'm out :)
Daniel Jones 05-17-2006, 07:14 PM Heh...silly handstands. But fear not! You know you have the rest of us MURDERED at rail flippery.
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-17-2006, 08:50 PM Are Handstand double finger flip outs ok?
Cuz if so I cant do em.....
I must now go meditate and choose my next trick...and by meditate I mean...choose....so Im going to go choose and choose my next trick.
Necromortis 05-18-2006, 12:39 AM Ahahaha, I laughed at that post.
Anyway, you have about 23 hours to post up your set :D *Counts minutes* I'm counting.
~Necro
Tony W. 05-18-2006, 01:03 AM Heh...silly handstands. But fear not! You know you have the rest of us MURDERED at rail flippery.
Thanks. But what I was going to set had no rail tricks at all!
Necromortis 05-18-2006, 01:37 AM Then you're just a silly goose.
*Lispy voice* Tthhhsssillly goothssse*
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 05-18-2006, 10:21 AM Thanks. But what I was going to set had no rail tricks at all!
hey tony w, what was the trick you were going to set, i'll try it anyway
Tony W. 05-19-2006, 12:26 AM Well if it gets to be my set again, you'd have a whole while before-hand to learn it. Let me just say it involves a crossfoot landing.
Necromortis 05-19-2006, 12:38 AM I love crossfooted landings. And crossfooted rail. There's a crossfoot in the trick I'm planning as well :D
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 05-19-2006, 10:51 AM nice match bret, i actully wanted to learn these for my last set but the deadline came so i didnt get them, but now i have a reason to go out and learn them.
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-19-2006, 01:29 PM Good stuff. I actually learned these accidentally when I was trying to learn fakie casper reverts. I highly recommend anyone that cant do these to really try these - its a very impressive flatland trick and not that hard.
Stevie Hunt 05-19-2006, 01:41 PM ahh man, i really wanna go and skate but its pooring with rain, i aint got a problem with skatting in rain, if it dosent stop i gonna stick the camera under a umbreller or sommthing
Necromortis 05-19-2006, 07:28 PM Ugh, it's raining here as well. Except I DO have a problem with skating in rain. I'm in the middle of a move (sleeping at my new house tonight for the first time, woot!), so hopefully I'll be able to skate in my new garage tonight or tomorrow or something.
Dunno if I'll get this trick though.
~Necro
My match is up. That's a fun trick.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-20-2006, 03:37 PM Not bad not bad.
Oooonly....Id really rather see it where no feet touch whatsoever. That means the back foot too. Hence I made a point about it on two seperate posts : "NO Foot touchin ya hear!!" & "But No feet touchin at all!!! Not front foot or back foot!!".
You guys got 3 more days though so Im pretty confident you guys can get it that way.
Definitely not bad though.
Necromortis 05-20-2006, 04:32 PM Did my back foot touch? I'm not sure? I bounced around because I had to adjust my feet for the 'to Rail' bit of the 'Casper to Rail.'
Anyway, I spent my first night in my new house last night, and today I've been going crazy, moving absolutely EVERYTHING that was in my old house out. Unfortunately, I have no internet at my new house yet. If I re-film it, it may not be up in time.
I might be able to upload it at school though. Anyhow, I'll try and re-film it and re-post it, but keep in mind it might be a little bit late, and/or not appearing at all (depends on how things go).
Are you sure my foot touched?
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-20-2006, 11:31 PM Its cool dude. But you definitely had your foot touchin. You can definitely tell cuz the board starts to angle forward. Not just yours though - Dead Sparrows too.
Tony W. 05-22-2006, 12:57 AM He's right. I see some back feet touching the ground.
Chris, that garage looks really nice! But it's slick no?
I'll do the match tomorrow.
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-23-2006, 12:35 AM So no one got it? Come on. This saddens me. Not even Tony? Tony come on buddy!! I was relying on you here. bah.
Alright then.
Necromortis 05-23-2006, 12:05 PM Nope, I refilmed it two days ago and uploaded it yesterday. Here's my refilmed match, as well as a few extras (a new gymnast variation and a kickflip...well, classic).
Please excuse the lateness - lack of internet :( I'll post the link up in the Tricks thread.
~Necro
[EDIT]Oi wait a minute - we have till the end of today (it's morning here) to post up the match.
Anyway, my match is up.
And yeah Tony, the Garage is pretty sick - I'm just hoping for all the stuff to be cleared out soon.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-23-2006, 06:17 PM I really liked your other trick especially that were in the video. Im still a little iffy about if your foot touched or not. Id really like to get a third party vote on it such as Tony or even someone like Sarge or something. It just really really looks like your back too touches the same way as it did before. You do know what I mean right? Only the board should be in contact with the ground, not even the slightest amount of material from your shoe.
I dunno. I almost want to count it since you did a decent version pretty quick. If anyone not in question in the moment happens to read this and wants to throw a little input in that would be cool.
It looks like Dead Sparrows improved quite a bit. Could just be me but it looks better than before.
Oh and sorry about saying that time was up - I live out in Orlando and the times are a few hours off so sometimes when Im not too there in the head, well, you get it.
Tony W. 05-23-2006, 06:56 PM Don't worry. Today for sure or I'm out!
Just listen to the scream. Isn't it beautiful?
Stevie Hunt 05-24-2006, 10:13 AM looking at my second to my first, there quite abit of diffrence, i really did try to do it clean, its up to you though man if it counts..
Necromortis 05-24-2006, 11:39 AM So did mine count or no? I'll post up my set, and I'll count mine as a fair match unless someone definitively says that 'No, it doesn't count.'
I'd like to point out that it's just about physically impossible for me to do that trick without any of my foot touching the ground - my tail is much smaller than a street deck's tail, and it's got a skid plate. When I flip, I have to angle m \y back foot, which messes with skidplate, etc.
Anyway, my set will beupsoon soon soon :D
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-24-2006, 04:33 PM I personally wouldnt count it. It wasnt terrible but the trick is waaaay different if nothing touches. Notice how me and Tony did it, you really wouldnt be able to hop around a bit and reposition if you did it correctly. Thats just my opinion though - I wouldnt count it.
Stevie Hunt 05-24-2006, 04:52 PM ok man, thats fair enough its your call, i thourt mine and necros re-filmed ones were much better then are firsts
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-24-2006, 05:14 PM Well, to be honest - that last comment was directed toward Necros. I thought yours improved quite a lot and It didnt look like your foot touched at all - if you think it did and I just cant see it than thats your call - but I thought your second one was more what I was looking for.
Stevie Hunt 05-24-2006, 05:53 PM yea, i thourt my secong attemp was pretty good, (apart from the almost falling of the board at the end, haha)
i dont wanna lie and say all my shoe was on the board because it wasnt, the end of the board i was doing it on (the biggest end)has been really chipped away, and i would say about half a cm of my shoe hit the floor if that, my heel didnt hit like before,
but it was your set man, so its your call, if you want me to get a letter im not boferd dude, its because of you that i learned them..
Necromortis 05-24-2006, 06:56 PM I personally wouldnt count it. It wasnt terrible but the trick is waaaay different if nothing touches. Notice how me and Tony did it, you really wouldnt be able to hop around a bit and reposition if you did it correctly. Thats just my opinion though - I wouldnt count it.
I can reposition my feet in any position, becuase my shoes are so thrashed they just slide.
~Necro
Tony W. 05-24-2006, 07:15 PM my tail is much smaller than a street deck's tail, and it's got a skid plate.
I'd just like to say that my tail is small too :icon_bigg . Plus, skid plates help your foot from sliding off in caspers if you put your foot on it.
Edit: Oh yes, I think I will be having a tough time learning that hs hand flip to ts.
Necromortis 05-24-2006, 07:27 PM So far it seems that the only person who is actually against the trick counting is Brett...anyone else against it?
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-24-2006, 08:04 PM Well Im sure Tony is in some form of agreeance with me on this one - granted its my decision - but that doesnt mean Im the only one who is thinking the way I am. If you think its my call I would say that Necros didnt count because your foot touched - I would have said Dead Sparrows counted cuz on the second one it didnt look like it touched - but if he claims that he did than to be fair I wouldnt count it either. However it is your game - so do what you will.
Necromortis 05-24-2006, 09:35 PM It's partly your call, but I need at least two outright agreeances with you (from members currently in the game) in order not to count it (I came up with that just in case one particular player has something against another).
~Necro
Tony W. 05-25-2006, 07:39 PM It looks like your foot touched indeed. I used to do them like that too, then learnt them the 'proper' way instead.
Necromortis 05-25-2006, 08:37 PM Ok so that's one...
Anyone else hate me (jk ;))
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-28-2006, 04:23 PM Im just curious when this rule came into play? I didnt see it posted anywhere and when there has been discrepencies in the past it wasnt there. Like when you werent really doing the exact same set as Daniel you wrote (After the deadline was past): "Daniel (it's actually his call, it's his set) said it'd be fine if no one objected by the deadline *shrug*" . Well first of all - you or daniel never posed the question so why would anyone say anything, and plus you said right there that Its Daniels call because it was his set, and not that 2 other people had to agree on the forum.
Just curious.
Necromortis 05-28-2006, 08:00 PM I would like to point out that I DID ask two other people about that issue, and they DID agree with me that my match was fine (I talked to them over AIM, and I showed Daniel the convo records over AIM as well). That was when the rule was originally was thought up (before the issue with my match came up).
---
Finally, there weren't any discrepencies in the past really. I see no problem with my match because I not only landed it, but I re-filmed it for you a second time, both of which I landed it just about cleanly. I even showed the trick to Gary Holl and he thought that it was fine (but that's just me being OCD).
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-28-2006, 08:20 PM Ok but Ive shown your match to people as well, people that happen to not be apart of the game and they agreed with me as well. But even more so you didnt land the trick technically. Your foot touched. That was part of the trick - to not have your foot touch, I made that veeery clear very early on. You may have filmed it twice but you did the same problem both times.
Necromortis 05-28-2006, 09:01 PM I'm still unclear as too which foot you mean by the way - is it my actual back foot (and therefore the one on the tail), or my 'back foot (as in back while riding fakie)?'
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-28-2006, 09:22 PM The one on the tail, not the one that goes under the board. Your foot is hanging off the tail and touching the ground in both versions that you filmed.
Necromortis 05-29-2006, 12:25 AM Meh, I can't do anything to fix that. My foot doesn't really fit on my tail like that (either my toe or my heel hangs off), and if I angle my foot...well...meh - dunno how Tony manages it. If my tail was two inches longer then I'd do that.
Anyway, isn't anybody going to match my set?
~Necro
Hey, I was wondering if I could participate in this?
Tony W. 05-29-2006, 02:51 AM I'm telling you, it's all in the skid plate. I could have 3 inches of tail but as long as their's a skid plate, I can do a casper.
Sorry Chris, I'm out of this game. I can't do the 3rd trick in your combo for some strange reason.
Necromortis 05-29-2006, 02:15 PM Wow, I expected at least one person to be able to do this one.
Good show Tony :D
Bleh: It's too late for you to join up, sorry.
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 05-29-2006, 02:31 PM nice set necro, ok so its my turn....hmmmm, what day will be the 31st ?
Necromortis 05-29-2006, 03:36 PM Well today's Monday, and it's in two days from now, so I think it'll be a Sunday.
No just joking. It's a Wednesday.
~Necro
Tony W. 05-29-2006, 06:35 PM I'll let you see what could have been my set:
Necromortis 05-29-2006, 07:31 PM Oooh, that double fingerflip might have gotten me. I like the Varial Tailstop flip to Tailstop, I do those occasionally.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-31-2006, 07:50 PM Well, as much as I want to match the set- Im out. Not because I cant do the match, but I broke my knee again last night. Snapped all the ligaments on the inner part of my left knee.
Ill be up for games in the upcoming months but not for a while.
Later.
Necromortis 05-31-2006, 08:27 PM Oh holy **** man, how did you do that?
That sucks a lot, hope to see you in some of the games in the future.
~Necro
Tony W. 05-31-2006, 08:41 PM That doesn't sound too fun. How did you do it?
BRETTNOVAKcom 05-31-2006, 09:31 PM Well, my knees are already- INCREDIBLY - weak as it is due to, well, breaking them 13 other times (you know how addicting Skateboarding is). Anywho I was just having a little tennis court session (which was definitely one of my best to date) and happened to go for just a quick rolling 360 pivot (basically rolling pretty fast and whipping a 360 powerslide only on the back truck). Its one of my easiest tricks, not even trick - just something I do aaall the time. This time however, I pulled a 270 and the truck stuck on the ground - all my momentum kept turning (therefor my body kept turning) but my foot stayed with the grip tape and caused my knee to snap. Maybe not 90 degrees the wrongway worth but close to it.
Definitely fun stuff. Whats even better is I was by myself as usual and had to walk a good distance back to my Apartment and then walk up 3 flights of stairs so I could get a leg brace from previous breakings.
Oh life is sweet.
Keep skating. :)
Necromortis 05-31-2006, 09:43 PM Oh wow that sounds so painful. It sucks that you had to drop out, you're damn good. Hope you have a speedy recovery :D
Anyway, I got my match filmed...
~Necro
Matchzor is upzor! Wootzor.
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 06-01-2006, 07:41 AM very nice match necro, though in my set i hand shovited the board in the gym, though your match still counts, i relise now what quality drops by filming in the night, i'll film in day from now on
Necromortis 06-01-2006, 10:15 AM Oh sorry about that. I couldn't quite tell what you did in the gymnast, and it looked like you just brought it down to rail.
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 06-01-2006, 09:34 PM yea i know, the quality sucks, i actully turned the board 180 but it dosent matter, i'll film my next set ( if im still in) during the day..
You guys are insanely good at this! Man necro is in the begginer game of freestyle skate and im screwed!! I just kinda do freestyle to the side...props tho men..nice work.......
PS: Come visit in the begginer freestyle game of skate
skaterbob 06-03-2006, 02:13 AM yeah , necros gonna take me out with some gymnast plant variations , ill have to do some sort of flippery just to get him atleast one letter :D
Necromortis 06-03-2006, 02:38 AM But I promised to leave out all the gymnast plants!
And the rules say no ollie flips!
~Necro
Necromortis 06-04-2006, 09:18 PM Ok guys, it's Daniel Jones's set now. Daniel, you have two days.
~Necro
Necromortis 06-08-2006, 04:14 PM Hey sparrow - I don't think your match counted. You didn't roll at all when both feet where on top of the deck, and you came to a complete stop when you got out of it.
Up to Daniel though.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 06-09-2006, 06:48 PM Hey sparrow - I don't think your match counted. You didn't roll at all when both feet where on top of the deck, and you came to a complete stop when you got out of it.
Up to Daniel though.
~Necro
Since when has it been up to the person making the set if the match counted? :)
Tony W. 06-09-2006, 07:53 PM Chris, you do your cocos weird :)
RustyNail 06-10-2006, 06:53 AM Yeah black sparrow, I can hear trivium playing in the background of your movie :icon_rock
Necromortis 06-10-2006, 10:25 AM Brett - Daniel would be the second dissenter if he doesn't like it (so I AM keeping to my rules - ha!). He doesn't, but he won't post up here, dunno where he's been. I haven't talked to him in a while because I've been really busy.
And Tony - shut up :) Just kidding. I get into them backwards, but it works, so whatever.
~Necro
Necromortis 06-11-2006, 01:31 PM Ok I talked to Daniel and he said that the match didn't count - I'll give Dead Sparrow an extra day to try and re-film it, because I'm posting this two hours before the deadline (and that's just mean).
Then I'll post my set up.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 06-11-2006, 02:40 PM Well I think his set counted...:).....so I thought there had to be a few people to agree with him first?.....I think you told me there had to be at least two outright agreeances with him for the match not to count. So far I only count one agreeance with him, and thats you. :)
Necromortis 06-11-2006, 02:44 PM ^And Daniel - I talked to him on AIM. The problem is, he hasn't posted here, and I don't know why. He keeps saying he's going to. So, that's Daniel and me (two) and therefore it keeps by the rules that I set (see - I'm not just being psychotic here).
The problem with a coco wheelie is that by definition, you have to roll into it, out of it, and while in it.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 06-11-2006, 07:16 PM Well no, thats not two. It needs to be there person who made the set and two other people. Cuz if that was the case - I said your match didnt count on mine and so did Tony....and thats two....and yet you didnt take the letter....?
Necromortis 06-11-2006, 08:24 PM ^Oh yeah, I can't count :P
But there aren't enough people for that to happen right now are there? Not enough people currently in the game.
By the way, how's your knee?
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 06-11-2006, 09:14 PM Haha changing the subject eh? Well that still shouldnt matter.....it still should need the amount you set in the beginning.
lol.
My knees getting better. Im able to bend it and kind of push around. Nothin too fun yet.
Stevie Hunt 06-11-2006, 09:38 PM hey necro feel free to post your set, i'll take a letter on them cocos
RubberOnion 06-12-2006, 09:52 AM Couldn't a Stationary COCO wheelie be considered a "more advanced version". You know, like how a rail handstand (from the ground), flipping and landing on the ground, then doing a casper is a "more advanced" version of a "handstand rail flip"
Necromortis 06-12-2006, 11:06 AM ^Nope, a stationary Coco is infinitely easier - not hard at all :D
Anyway, my set is up.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 06-12-2006, 12:32 PM Couldn't a Stationary COCO wheelie be considered a "more advanced version". You know, like how a rail handstand (from the ground), flipping and landing on the ground, then doing a casper is a "more advanced" version of a "handstand rail flip"
Ok that comment seriously just made my day.
lol.
Necromortis 06-13-2006, 12:05 PM Sparrow - I'm very hesitant to count your match. The point of starting on your feet is that you don't kick off your foot and then your knee, which is what you did. Also, it wasn't quite horizontal, nor did you hold the stand - if you do the flange correctly, it's horizontal and you hold it for a while.
The thing with flanges is that you don't really kick up like a handstand (which you did). In addition, you have to extend your body at least somewhat.
Try doing them correctly, it's not that hard, and you still have a few days. You're getting damned close too.
~Necro
Daniel Jones 06-13-2006, 01:08 PM I'm out of this comp. My camera broke. Sorry guys, :(
Necromortis 06-13-2006, 01:11 PM ^Swears violently.
Oh, and since everyone seems to think I'm a cheat for the Casper to Rail (or was it the Handstand Railflip?), I'm taking a letter for that.
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 06-13-2006, 04:50 PM i've re-done it
Necromortis 06-13-2006, 05:48 PM You're getting closer, but still not quite there.
Firstly, it looks like you started on your knees not your feet, so could you film it from a better camera angle? You should be starting with one foot on the deck and your other leg extended behind you (look at my clip for an example).
Another thing - you really have to extend your legs, so that you're slightly horizontal. I'm probably sounding like a total ****, but this is a very hard trick, and I'd like people to do this correctly if they're going to try and match it.
So yeah, extend your legs out so your knees aren't hovering a foot or so above the board, make your knees go behind the board (your stomach should be just about centered over the board, and your knees should be about two or so feet behind the deck). If you don't extend your legs, it looks like your doing a messed up V Sit or something.
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 06-13-2006, 06:32 PM ok mate, i'll re-re film it, though i did start it proply with only one knee on the board its just the camera angle, look closly and you can see my white shoe, but yea i will do it again with a better leg extension
Necromortis 06-13-2006, 07:59 PM ^Ok, just to be sure, extend your leg so you just have one foot on the board, no knee.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 06-14-2006, 10:28 AM I watched his set, I think it should count. He did the trick right. You didnt have your legs out perfectly straight, so at that point its free game to how straight they are.
Its not a cut and dry obvious mess up like, lets say, a foot touching the ground.
:)
Necromortis 06-14-2006, 10:53 AM ^It is a cut and dry mess-up, because he didn't extend his legs at all. He just kicked up and came back down. That defeats the purpose of the whole 'Flange' part of the Flange Handstand.
I don't know if you've ever done a Flange, but it's an entirely different trick if your legs are out straight as opposed to bent and you just kick up.
~Necro
BRETTNOVAKcom 06-14-2006, 11:51 AM Well in all fairness....your legs were bent somewhat too.
Necromortis 06-15-2006, 11:54 AM Sparrow -
Get on MSN sometime today, I need to talk to you about your match. It's still not a flange handstand, and I need to talk to you about it and tell you why :D
~Necro
Stevie Hunt 06-16-2006, 10:24 PM aww, i just couldnt get these horizontel, well nice one on winning necro,
Necromortis 06-16-2006, 10:31 PM Bah, I wouldn't have won if Daniel hadn't dropped out. I feel kind of sad that it's over now :( Well I'll get to work on the FGoS 2 now. Unfortunately I can't play, but yeah...I'll make one.
Oh and also, I'm going to make certificates for the top three place winners. Good job you guys :D
