It all depends.
If you're repping a local shop, free stuff usually doesn't come in massive quantities, but it is there, basically you're advertising for the company, so you skate around, win contests, put out videos, whatever. Just get them business, and they pay you back by getting your name out, and hooking you up with contacts from bigger companies, etc etc

If you're on flow, you get free stuff in the mail, and the company keeps an eye on you (depends whether its direct or just from a local rep) and if you keep progressing and sending them videos, you could possibly turn AM.

AM, you get free stuff, are considered to be on the team, could get a video part with them, get interviews, etc etc etc, but it really depends on which company, and how well-known you are.

You can probably fill in the blanks from here on out.

I signed up on some stupid sites to get sponsors. Its more of getting discounts. Its not 100% horrible. It helped me out at times when i was low on money so i can get good shoes for half the normal price so yeah. Now i get small discounts at my local skate shops just because i am friends with a lot of the people who work there. I wouldn't count that being sponsored but, one day i hope i do get sponsored. If not i wouldn't care. I skate for fun.

well if any of you heard the wesbite sponsorhouse, but yeah like i sorta have a sponsorship with osiris because they gave me a 2 year contract saying how i get %20 off every producy i buy with them but i dont think that counts, so no.
