The game is on. Here are the rules again:

Rules

1) The set has to be reasonably clean. I know in Freestyle some of the crazier tricks can get slightly sketchy, but try to get it where you don't just fall off the board after landing :P The same goes for matches, although some leeway can be given.

2) This is a Freestyle Game of Skate. A lot of flip tricks can be considered freestyle, but for this game, no ollie or ollie-based tricks are allowed. We have the regular Game of Skate for that.

3) No repeating tricks already in the game. This does not apply to combos (ex: If a HS Rail has already been done, you can still use it in a combo).

4) Tricks can be done stationary or rolling, it's your choice. If someone does a rolling trick, the set (obviously?) has to be rolling.

5) If someone besides the 'setter' of the trick has a problem with a person's match, there must be at least two other people who agree for a re-match to be required. If the 'setter' has a problem with a person's match (and has a reason), then a re-match is required.

6) Combos may not be more than four tricks long. One trick = your starting position, a transition, and then an ending position. Example - rail to casper is one trick. Tailstop to 50-50 to rail is also one trick. Etc. etc.

7) Here's how the actual game dymanics work:

---When it's your turn to set, you have two days to set your trick. Exceptions can be granted depending on circumstances.*

---You have five days to match the trick after it has been set.*

---All times and dates are going to be in Pacific Standard Time (-8 from GMT) because that's the time that I operate on.

---When you match or set a trick, post it in the 'Freestyle Game of Skate Tricks' thread. All other discussion of the game will be held in the 'Freestyle Game of Skate Disscussion' thread.

---Footwork is allowed in sets in order to set up for tricks, but does not constitute a trick itself therefore cannot be used for a set, nor is it expected
in matches for the appropriate set.

---Wheelies and wheelie combos are allowed. See above for reason and limitation. Also, you can't really judge it on distance, so yeah, if it's a wheelie, it's a wheelie, if not, it's not.

---After you match a trick, just give the camera this handsign, to prove that the trick was filmed for the FGoS:

*To make things easier, once someone sets, I add five days to the current date (if you set on the 20th, I'll add five and get the 25th) and then zero onto midnight of that day (giving people a little extra time). The same goes for sets.

Varial: If you're goofy (which it appears that you are), then you got into rail, went to the tail end of your board, and then jumped over into a nose casper.

So I guess i'll bring up the fact that I do all my railflips switch naturally, so you'd better get learning your switch 360 triple railflips. Failing that, you can just let the guy have the match as that's the trick that you set, regardless of whether he did it switch or not. Unless you want to have to learn a switch 360 triple railflip...

Callum - there's a difference though - he went from tail cooper to nose casper. It's not like he naturally does his caspers or coopers switch, it's just the way he did it this one time (unless I'm mistaken - if you naturally do your caspers like that, please tell...if you do, then the match counts).

lol Some things really shouldn't matter. I think we should call it by ear though. Sounds like he is refilming, but I wouldn't bug about it. It isn't as serious as like tapping on a revert. (Note I did say tap not power through)

Varial - Christian said that if you do caspers from the nose naturally (therefore find it easier to go from cooper to nose casper rather than 'nose cooper' to casper) you don't have to re-film.

I personally think it's pointless getting him to re-film it, it's the same trick in principle. Unless something was purposefully set switch (which is just stupid in a freestyle game of skate) I don't think it should matter whether the match was done switch or not... The only thing I can think of where switch would apply are such things as truck transfers to switch 50-50 flips out.

But hey, i'm not running the game, it's merely my opinion. Christian's already told you what to do, so if you naturally do caspers with your back foot on the tail, re-film it. If you naturally do them with the front foot on the nose, leave it be.

Mike - If you're regular, you need to be going so that your right foot is on the wheel to your far left. Put your left foot against the grip of the board, then jump with your right foot over to the tail of your board to land in a casper. Enjoy!

It's not Christian's decision. The rules state that:

Therefore if Christian were to have a problem with the re-match, then two other people beside himself would have to agree, therefore is actually quite a sensible suggestion to openly ask whether people are ok with the re-match.

I personally thought that there was a bit of the old foot on floor action going on there, but not enough to make me lobby for a re-match.

I second Se7en's re-match being rejected. Not only was it still not the trick, there was blatant feet on the floor.

Se7en - If you read this, hurry up and re-match (if you can re-match a re-match...). I'll tell you exactly how to do the trick so you have no excuses:

1 Stand on the board, then get into rail, using your front foot to tilt the board (Not from tail, it's technically not a match if you do it from tail).

2 Move your back foot towards your front, until they are next to each other. You then have to do a small jump so that your back foot is now on the wheel that your front foot was on, and your front foot should be around the rail of the nose.

3Now put all the weight onto your backfoot and place your frontfoot on the grip by the nose - make sure your front foot does not touch the floor! Once it is in position, jump off your back foot and scoop forwards a tiny bit with your front foot. This will cause the board to be 'upside down', but your front foot should still not have touched the floor. Aim to land your back foot on the tail, and with your front foot under the board, you'll land in casper. Then, flip out.

Hey guys great news!!! ( <---- Sarcasm ) I just hyper extended my knee. I was trying a little fast plant trick on a vert wall and slipped. My foot stuck to the ramp and my body fell down. Thus my lower leg flew to the side and up. I could literally feel my knee slip a bit out of socket then pop back in. I cannot guarantee how well I will be able to compete. My knee is way swollen right now. I will try my best. Luckily I have my first set filmed for when that comes around. Not a crazy hard set, but it will have to do until me knee heels. ( Ya I know how far my turn is away. This knee might take a while to heel though.)

Edit: In the interest of carrying on the game as smoothly as possible, I've placed myself in Sev7n's position (providing Christian doesn't mind - if it's a problem, i'll withdraw the set and do what I was originally planning to do with the extra time).

As i'm going to see the Architects tomorrow night, I went out and filmed my set tonight. Not arsed if you pogo, you can pull it straight up and flip out if you like. My apologies for all the shuffling around. :)

Hah, just kidding, but hot damn. I'm going to have to learn how to do that crossfooted no handed butterflip, and then take it to rail (which will be a pain in the ass), the rail to 50-50, and then somehow manage to get a 1.5 fingerflip out as well.

No, here's the rule -

Combos may not be more than four tricks long. One trick = your starting position, a transition, and then an ending position. Example - rail to casper is one trick. Tailstop to 50-50 to rail is also one trick. Etc. etc.

Trick one:
Starting position - hs rail
Transition - Casper drop/slapback (whatever you kids call them these days)
Ending position - hs rail

Trick two:
Starting position - hs rail
Transition - X foot reingtes to no handed 50-50
Ending position - hs rail

Trick three:
Starting position - hs rail
Transition - Varial fingerflip to pogo
Ending position - 1 1/2 fingerflip to grip

Or, as a variable, you could have trick three as:
Starting position - hs rail
Transition - Varial fingerflip to pogo
Ending position - 50-50

then there'd be trick four:
Starting position - 50-50
Transition - 1 1/2 fingerflip
Ending position - Grip

Either way you take it, it's within the allowed limit of the game. :)

i think if the side of your foot is touching the ground, it's no big deal, but that's only about 5% of your foot. 50% is pretty bad.

Just because I haven't posted often in this, doesn't mean I'm not in this? I haven't posted because frankly, i'm rusty on my freestyle ''in general'' and hence can't really post about anything on topic TOO much (unless you want a bombarment of questions from me, lmao)...I'm cool, i'm here, i'm learning more then anything...I can't match what's been going on right now, but trust me in that i'm learning to benefit myself in the future (or hell, at least give me a chance). The level of difficulty that you all are on is straight ridiculous. I'm just happy to be watching quality freestyle for maybe THE FIRST time in my life (like a semi-live thing)

Monday I woke up for work, and my eye brow hurt. I got up put my contacts in, and looked at it, but couldn't see anything, and nothing looked bad, just sore.
Tuesday I woke up, it hurt, and was a little red, but not that bad in the swelling department. Well, last night Missy say's to me ''Your eye is all puffy, so I went into the bathroom to check, and it was swollen on the top eyelid.
This morning I woke up, went into the bathroom, and was like ''Holy Hell'', my eye was HUGE. The top and bottom are a tint of black/blue, and swollen. I got my contact in, but that sucked and was painful, and went to work. Well, I asked a doctor at work and he said ''It isn't a stye or cist, cause it isn't hard, but you could have been bite by a spider sleeping''...SO, here I am, miserable with one contact, not exactly sure what it is, but hoping that when i wake up tomorrow, my eye is down a bit'' (i've been putting ice on it all afternoon)

oww hope it gets better man, my eye/eye brow used to swal up alot, its because i got my eye brow pierced and ages ago i used to catch it on my pillow so by the moring i could barly see through my eye because of the swelling, horrible feeling though isnt it..

Yeah man, its the worst...It wouldn't be so bad if I eye lids didnt hurt, but its like I blink and HELL pain. It's a never ending cycle of constantly being reminded it is there. Looks like its some NyQuil for me tonight, haha. So tomorrow, whatever the eye looks like, i'll do my set, and post it up as earliest as possible. Yeah man, if you want to pivot go right ahead :). Actually, that was my intent, but being a massive heavy guy, getting into casper without an ollie is rather tough for me, so I just end up sliding the board around...Pivots are fine by me

i did get a letter and my set is up its not very hard but i did get well pissed off about this.

3/4 kickflip body varial to HS rail, to varial double railflip out - is that right? That's what it looks like, but it's pretty dark.

^I think he's commenting that you just rolled the deck instead of picking it up and actually flipping it.

lol Kinda both. Kinda hard to "kick" it with that trick. The movement is much more of a roll using both feet (one to pressure and one to roll/lift in the same general direction) than a kick. lol Call it "kickflip" if you want, but that makes it rather oxymoronic. :) I will just call it roll flip for my own sake. lol Just for future reference that is prolly what I will refer to that trick as. I will try to have my match up tonight.

Had a go at it today... No idea how that's supposed to work. Closest I got was a rail slapback half underflip, much to my amusement. I agree with Aron, good set.

Well unfortunately I couldn't land what I'd intended to set which was rather unsatisfying, so I filmed something easier in the interest of moving the game forward asap. I'll post the video once it's finished processing.

It depends on what the weather's doing really, the garage floor isn't 'sticky' enough for this trick (there's a clue for you).

Well, whilst the trick itself may be harder, there's less parts to it than the other in which you'd have to learn three tricks if you didn't know any of it.. so less time learning hopefully!

Right, well due to me not having done a broken fingers since I was skating 26x7 inch board and getting super tech, it looks like I don't have them on lock anymore, so you have an easy match as a result of my lack of impatience.

^Hahahah, easy match? It's not so bad, but damn I'm going to have to learn that fingerflip to rail.

Three main points:

1) Don't let it get into 50-50 properly; this'll cause the board to flip a little slower as you don't have to use extra strength to pull the board against the tension.

2) Angle your back foot slightly (though I think you may use your front for standing on the truck..) so that it's pointing towards the board. No idea why this helps, I just find it does.

3) When you're in the 50-50, keep your front foot (again, this could possibly be your back foot) close to the board and about the level of the wheel so your foot can follow the board down and catch it in rail.

I'm pretty sure I've seen you do them you know..

^I think I've fluked that one a few times, played around with it, but consistency has been a problem. I don't think I've done it in any of my videos. Maybe you're thinking of the tailstop backhanded fingerflip to rail?

Quite possibly... I may be mistaking videos of yourself and Mr.Bunn again though, I've been known to make that mistake.

If you can fluke them, then you can do the set provided you leave your camera on for long enough.

When is it that it has to be matched? I remember someone saying something about shortening the time for matches when it got to the last three or so... then again, that could have been a different game; my memory's so appaling.

couple of questions, when you flip the board does the board flip toward you or away from you? and how much does it flip?

it flips towards you to begin with, but because of the varial it ends up spinning away from you. Imagine holding the board with your back hand in 50-50 position and then doing a half flip as if you were in switch 50-50 then put it down to rail. In essence, it's that but with an extra flip, it's just because of the axis the board flips on it acts as more of a 180 with a 1 1/4 flip into hs rail.

Try to change the distribution of power between your legs - if it's going too far infront of you, you're probably pushing too hard with your back foot. I don't know how clearly you can see on mine, bu I have my foot slightly off centre so I get more 'torque' for the spin off the front foot.

Hmm... just a little sketchy, but there's nothing in the rules against pivoting back straight away.. just so long as you didn't 'almost fall off'.

I'd also appeal against the use of another gymnast plant, but I guess one from tail is different than one from rail just as getting into 50-50 from tail is different to getting into 50-50 from rail... even if not, you've got around it in the rules by saying about tricks not counting if they're in combos, so by that technicality I could film something else with a cross footed reintges to n/h 50-50 in.. fun fun fun!

Well, the guy who's camera I was using currently has it for his Media AS coursework, but i'll try and steal it back and have a stab at this with my new found handstand tips from your fine self Mr.Opperman, but don't be suprised if you don't get a match.
