View Full Version : Official Request a Tutorial Thread
Johnny Sprague 02-24-2007, 03:11 PM So, if you are looking for a tutorial, and cant find it, ask about it here!
I'll start off.
Does anyone know how to make letters look like they were stamped onto a piece of paper? I'm trying to make a logo for Nick (thisisoriginal) and I need some help with that.
Thanks guys,
John
Could you give an example? From what I think, there should be a font for that.
Etnieskater 02-24-2007, 04:10 PM Use the pillow emboss in blending options I think.
Johnny Sprague 02-24-2007, 04:20 PM Lord Moo: Eh, I looked everywhere for one. Couldn't find it.
Etnies: Thanks! I'll try it out on my other computer in a few.
Vandatta 02-24-2007, 06:50 PM Johnny Sprague, heres a few fonts that have that "stamped" effect your looking for :

**EDIT** i didnt see the tutorial my bad
Johnny Sprague 02-25-2007, 11:19 AM Doh! Sure, try to sucker a useless tutorial out of us =]
I was thinking of doing a tutorial on cropping, anyone want to supply and image REALLY hard to crop?
Johnny Sprague 02-25-2007, 04:34 PM No...
Sure, hold on a sec...
http://www.nuerble.com/port/text/clutter.jpg
Crop out the women with her hands on her cheeks =]
Vandatta 02-25-2007, 04:50 PM a cropping tutorial wouldnt be that hard to make. Cropping is rather easy, just zoom in very close and use the Polygonal Lasso Tool. :)
There are far easier methods than zooming in. That takes a longgggg time.
nuthead 02-26-2007, 10:50 AM So how do you crop nicely? I need to learn it. Also, my vectoring is real weak...Need to brush up a lil bit.
FightFlyCrow 02-26-2007, 10:56 AM At some point soon I will give a stencil making tutorial for the Gimp. Which should be able to be translated to photoshop pretty easy.
arto-geoff 02-26-2007, 11:35 AM Can someone tell me how to make a picture into a zero style ad?
Give me an example of a zero ad, and i'll try to whip up a tutorial.
arto-geoff 02-27-2007, 02:18 PM cheers lord moo, like this here:
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d72/INEOIVulture82/zero-thomas-1280.jpg
It's really nothing more than a font and some basic vectoring? Or maybe colorization. I guess I can post a [BASIC] tutorial on making a zero style add/banner/whatever.
arto-geoff 02-27-2007, 02:52 PM okay thatd be sweet man cheers
Vandatta 02-27-2007, 05:07 PM Arto-Geoff, I'd suggest searching through http://www.dafont.com/ to find a font similar to those in the Zero ads. Look through the sections of font styles that a font like that would be located. Good luck :)
FightFlyCrow 02-27-2007, 05:26 PM Arto-Geoff you can look at my stenciling guide for the way to get the photo like that. Just do not worry about cutting out the background, and the bridge making.
Johnny Sprague 03-02-2007, 09:36 PM There's an easy way to render...
Take a pre-rendered image, and take the magic wand and take the white out ;)
Vandatta 03-02-2007, 09:53 PM There's an easy way to render...

That works but the results aren't that great. The only way to get very good results is to do it manually with one of the lasso tools.
Johnny Sprague 03-03-2007, 02:48 PM The results are fine, depending on how well the person rendered it at first.
The lasso tool isnt the only way, it might be for you, but not for everyone.
FightFlyCrow 03-16-2007, 05:50 PM Does any one know of a way to export an image from Gimp that has invisible areas. Meaning if I post the image on the cafe it would have parts that are the light blue color.

matixskater 03-17-2007, 11:11 PM i wanted to make an analog stencil so i could spray my wall, but im having trouble enlarging the logo. I select the borders, and convert them to paths, but it will always ask you to input a value above 0.5, which makes the path do weird stuff. Is there an alternative way to enlarging simple logos?

HighVoltageSk8r 03-25-2007, 09:03 PM Vexeling?
FightFlyCrow 03-25-2007, 09:45 PM From my research I have determained that vexeling is the same thing as vectoring.
HighVoltageSk8r 03-25-2007, 09:50 PM Yeah, thought it might be something like that. Thanks F!F!C!

theirs no shortcut way to do it. Edits like that takes a lot of time and effort. The way they describe it their is the exact way to do it. Zoom in and trace it with the pen tool.
I Cant see this
