The new BFGoS is up!

Ok. Here are the rules

1. Although this is beginner, please make the sets/matches reasonably clean, although some slack can be given.... just dont fall off the board and you should be fine.

2. No ollie tricks, this is freestyle. Also, no footwork, although technically it is freestyle, it just doesnt work in SKATE games...yeah.

3. Tricks can be stationary or rolling, but if the set is rolling, the match must be rolling.

4. If more than 2 people have a problem with the set, with a good reason of course, a reset will be issued. If the setter has a problem with a persons match, a rematch will be issued.

5. No repeating sets, although individual tricks (if a HS Rail has been done already) are allowed to be done again.

Heres how the game works

When its your turn to set, you have 2 days to set the trick. At midnight of the second day, if the set is not up, you are skipped and we move to the next person. Exceptions can be granted under certain circumstances

After the set is made, you have 5 days to match the trick. At midnight of the 5th day if your match is not up you will recieve a letter. Again, exceptions can be made under certain circumstances.

All times and dates will be in -4 from GMT because thats what time I opperate at.

Tricks go under "BFGoS Tricks" all other discussion goes under "BFGoS Discussion". No discussion goes in the tricks thread.

After you set your trick or match a trick, you must flash a peace hand sign to the camera, just so we know the trick was done for the game of skate. For those of you who dont know what the peace hand sign is.... and I really hope everyone knows... its like this :icon_peac just for the record.

This will be sweet, all I can do in freestyle are a couple of casper flip thingos, which I don't even know the name to, some railstands and a rail flip. Can't wait for the first set. Good luck to everyone!

Doesnt seem to difficult to me, I mean, id have to go out and learn the flip, but I have no problem doing it. It has my ok.

The hardest part about it is getting both of your feet to one side...

Lets just say that if more than two people have a problem with it, then you have to reset, sound fair?

It is like a double railflip with a 180 rotation, but both feet are near the wheels.

there's no body-varial, it's just a railflip but you have your other foot on the truck closest to your flipping foot. It's an appropriate set for a beginner game.

Newbed when you get a chance can you post your set in the BFGoS trick thread? Also, I just filmed the trick, wasnt too hard, ill probably put it up a little later tonight.

Edit: Just went out and tried these, and I've almost got them in half an hour. To all those that are doubtful, go for it, it's definately not as hard as it looks.

My match is up. 2 things to excuse me for, first is how long I took in rail :P, sorry guys, but I never do freestyle, this is like the first combo I've learnt, so as you can imagine my balance in Rail is horrible, and it took me a while to get there. Secondly I realise there was a fair bit of heel touch with my front foot, but about half my foot was on so it wasn't too extreme.

I doubt it, I am sure that not every set will be like this. Good luck!

Pearso.. that match of the cooperflip was not clean enough in my opinion... your whole foot was basically off but you still have like 3 more days to match it even better...

Pearso. Id say take a little more time and try to become a little more comfortable with the trick, remember, this game is all about learning new tricks really. I mean, if you can land that within a day of the trick being set, you should be able to land a fairly clean one within the next five days.

But thats only my opinion. In the rules it states only the setter can officially call a re-match, so really its Newbeds call if he has to re-match it.

Edit: i just read over the rules and it says no ollie variations... so that trick is not a choice for this SKATE game...

When the board pop up I bailed cos I thought I did it wrong and I wanted to protect my manhood, but I realise thats how it's done :P

Hey I'm definately taking a letter. I just got worked up and pissed off every time I try cause I can't get it to spin and it lands on the graphics side everytime, I just can't get the extra half rotation. Who else hasn't matched yet and will be taking letters? It doesn't seem like to many people have matched yet?

Dude theres major front foot touch on that first casper and theres some on the second one aswell... I don't think it should be allowed.

To right, If setting time is over then i think it should move on to the next person and se7en takes a letter

Rules say the set must be in at my midnight of the date given, and by my clock that gives him...55 more minutes. If there is no re-set posted by that time im pretty sure it just moves on to the next guy in line.

It'll be a shame if no re-set is posted though, I thought that would have been a good set and I was lookin forward to trying it.

Ahh... 2 days to set.. just remembered, thanks for the reminder! I thought I had 3 days... well that complicates things, I've got a bit of studying to do after dinner, but I'll give it a go quickly, if I can't get what I play to set then I'll just do something basic.

Ok my set is up. Well, I haven't been well the last couple of days, I've been running out of time, sunlight was running out, and worst of all, my camera batteries were dying quickly. So despite all that, I managed to get this set. It's pretty easy, just a nollie calf wrap to casper, half flip out, but it's better than taking a letter.

My match is up boys , it was pouring down rain lol, me and my board got extremely drenched lol.... i dont want to hear anyone complaining about rain.... deal with it pussies.

it is totally fine.. i am just not that used to nollie freestyle tricks..and that was one of the only times i sorta wrapped the board around my calf and then messed up on the casper.... but i was only trying to match for around 10 minutes so ill def. get a better match in:icon_peac

Umm yeah, just to anyone that is having trouble with the calfwrap, set up in a nollie heel position, but with both feet on the very edge of the board. Pop as hard as you can, the harder the pop the higher it will go, and get your back foot out and under the board, and bring it back around to pin it in a figure four shape on your leg.

Umm... sorry to stir up trouble... again.... flipper88, but umm, with the calfwrap, you are meant to wrap the board with the other foot, against your foot that pops, if that makes any sense... You popped it and wrapped with the same foot.

Sense my set is up next, i've been trying to think up a good, challenging set to do. I was looking at the other BFGoS threads to see what their ideas of what beginner sets are, and one of the last ones was, one handed 50-50 to rail -> railwhip -> TS Rail to Rail -> crossfooted landing.

I don't think I could land something like that quite yet, but hopefully I can come up with something really good.

My ankle is still kinda messed up, so whatever my set is, its probably gonna have some 1 foot stuff in it. :icon_bigg

Edit: Also. Those calfwraps were really weird learning them, I was trying to do them exactly like they were done in the set, which isnt the way I'm used to doing. The way I'm used to doing them is more of a scoop, then wrap around your leg, opposed to a pop and catch, if that makes sense to anybody... Anyway, yeah, good set, I had fun learning them :D

hah, same, I kind of do freestyle but not rail tricks freestyle.. more of a mix of freestyle pressure& toeflips with underflips and lateflips.. a mix of freestyle and tech I guess

Kickpush had a message somewhere in this thread, so I'm pretty sure he's aware he's in the game. Logan, I'm not too sure about that.

As far as the set goes, if you think the one foot flip looks hard, its really not as hard as it looks. It was actually the second rail flip I learned, a varial flip being the first.

And as far as my sig goes, it takes a little longer for me to update because I'm really new the cafe, so I don't have enough posts for that big of a sig, so right now I have to do all my sig updating through Pathtek. My apologies to anyone who finds this as an inconvenience.

Ahh that's an interesting set, I'm prepared for a decent amount of big stacks on the rail to rails.... wish me luck.

I think it might be my board because when i get in position to do it one end of my board is like 2 cm off the ground, i must have a bad shape or truck to rail proportion...?

Alright boys, splendid news. Well, playing a Rugby trial match yesterday, I got a bad hit, I play up a grade by the way, in the u/15's, and anyway I blacked out for a couple of minutes... I took a high tackle and might have gotten a knee to the head on the ground or something, I've got a bad concussion. All I remember is returning the ball and I was about 5 metres away from the defence. Apparently, I tried getting up and I fell over 3 times, and a bunch of other embarrasing stuff, but basically I just found out from my mum (who is a nurse and worked in Neurology a couple of years ago) that I can't play next Sunday's footy game, and just as bad, I'm not allowed to skate for a week at the very least. That sucks most because me and my friend just finished making this sweet new manual pad (check the ramp plans section). SO yeah, is it cool if I grab an extension, 5 days to match from today, I will miss out on this set, and maybe even a bit of next set depending when it is set. So yeah could I just grab say an 8 day extension? I really couldn't wait to try this move, and I even asked if I can just try some gentle stuff, but apparently the risk of hitting my head and it's consequences (no contact sport for the rest of the Winter season [it's Australia]) are too high in case I some how bang my head. So yeah that sucks, you guys cool with the extension bit?

I think its just the sides of your board aren't completely straight. Which would definitely make balance a lot harder.

I find the 1 foot rail to rail easier to do than the Ts to HS, personally.

i was practicing the Ts to HS a lot today so i have those on lock but i can not get the proper foot position on the 1 footed rail to rail.... if my foot is to far down the board in railstand, the board will flip over my foot and if my foot is to far up on the board in railstand i can not give the board and proper flick...

I just keep my foot centered on the wheel, in a place where I could keep my balance for a little bit if I wanted to, jump up and a little back, and just give it a little kick backwards...I realize its kinda hard to explain, but maybe that helped, i dunno. Either way, good luck, and don't give up :D

Ahh thanks for understanding guys. Antihero, it's not like a head injury that would put me in a coma... Just imagine you broke your arm, and it's nearly healed, but if you fall on it again it will take about twice as long to heal. That's like the deal with my concussion, can't risk a bad hit.

I got my freestyle complete today and it turns out i couldnt do varials because of the bad shape on my other deck, i can now double railflip, my match is up, not as clean as id like it to be , but i wanted to try new tricks on my new board :)

Pearso: I know exactly what your talking about, I've been in that situation many times over the years with my ankle, and I've made the wrong choices which has caused my ankle to be extremely messed up now.

i am soo madd... i did both of my rail to rail flips and then i was so nervous about not landing the varial flip and messed that up like 3 times... and then i finally landed it and i was out of the camera view.... my match will def. be up tomorrow...

Haha, I know what its like, that set line I did I can land pretty easily off camera, I use it as a warm-up line usually, but on camera it takes me forever to land even like a TS to HS railflip.

I'm counting on you to match this set you know, just so you can have no letters like me :D

What aspect of it are you have trouble with?

My problem is I just can't get from truckstand to HS rail... just can't get into it, can't turn the board and get on it basically.

Try to roll your back foot onto the board, rather then taking it off and placing it on , if you roll it on it helps stabilise the board in HS rail and your front foot can drop onto it and maintain balance.

I did the same thing to my ankle years ago, but with a handrail... fun fun.

Like Inferno said, if you think you can land the trick, I really don't see a problem with an extension.

Hopefully I'll be able to film my match tomorrow, so with any luck it should be up sometime tomorrow night.

Today I tried for it, just couldn't pull it all together...and then my camera died. In the end I was only out for like 20 mins, and came pretty close twice (I hate those casper flips). Ill be out again tomorrow, hopefully ill have better luck then.

Lol I haven't, since we haven't had a set for ages I haven't been bothered to practice or anything. When I do, it's something simple like a HS rail, to casper out or rail flip out.

i was gone all spring break... well i have skullfire1002 to teach me some freestyle so i am tutored a little.. hah

There was one pause for a 180... but i was waiting for that car to pass lol, otherwise i woulda been put it off, im happy with the speed of my match although the rail body varial was fairly ****e...

Well, today I went out to film my set, and somehow pressuring up to TS managed to snap my truck base in half...yeah..

Lesson learned: Never buy Krux.
