Hello my fellow tea drinking scone eating UK rippers.

I was wondering what the UK skate scene is like in YOUR town AT THE MOMENT.

It is almost dead around here, my local indoor skate park is infested with bladers, and the outdoor parks with bladers and bmxers, you do get a skateboarder or two every now and again but bladers and bmxers highly have the majority.

And you never really see any extreme sports being done in ths street, a few of my friends do it, but they get kicked out of spots within a few minutes.

So what is the UK skate scene like in your town at the moment?

Amazing. It's absolutely amazing here. Birmingham is thriving and skating lives on. Infact there's now a gang of skaters of about 50 skaters who go into the city centre on weekends and just rip as many places as possible and piss off the cops. I skated with em the other day and taught some of the younger ones some stuff. It was pretty fun.

BIRMINGHAM FOREVER!

u obviously wernt around chester back in the days of Commerce house...

that used to be the main meeting spot for skateboarders, it was by the bus station and had a perfect marble floor, 6set and handrail for skating, but then it became a drug den and is now shut off and wrecked by spiked rails, and the floor is gone. you would see 50 odd skaters there on any night, along with a load of generic posers etc. they all seemed to vanish when it got shut down, you see some of the older ones skating the rows or the cop occasionally, but yea most seemed to stop. chester used to have good spots, then they all got killed either by the owners or by druggies. sucks :(

The Belfast skate scene is pretty good, the city centre is loaded with spots and they're really close together. (for the most part)

There's usually about 50-100 skaters downtown on a good day, and it's rarely crowded, (Except when all the "freerunners" wont get out of the way:))

its ridiculous here, theres good points and bad points:

good points:

lots of skaters means you rarely skate alone in town
theres no real ******* skaters
theres amazin spots
no sectarianism in skateboarding

bad points:

because of the numbers of skaters if one does something wrong all the rest get a bad
no parks
rain force people under the motorway which gets very dodgy

there a school with 5 and 6 set and some nice other spots thre too.(15/20 min walk away

bigish 3 set (sometime you get kcked out because it by a church)close by.

big flatgroud place with loads of homemade ramps and rails and ****and right next to that place theres a football pitch with a high ledge to go off.(5min walk)

those are about the only spots i can think of at the moment

London is pretty sick, it used to be ohh skateboarding your a grunger and all the black boys that did it would be called white, but now its becoming much more accepted with pharrel and the ice cream team its seen as more of a hip hop/grime type thing so its getting sick now. Loads of skaters near me, none of them wearing tight jeans thankfully, more baggy trouser and new era hats lol.

How many are there nowadays? I used to live in the UK but migrated to AU just as skating and freerunning started to get more common. Tis a shame the aussies over here haven't quite got the same idea about freerunning.

There's not as many freerunners as skaters, but they do my head in, they jump over the smallest part of a tiny wall, clap, then stand at the bottom of the stairs I'm skating.

Some of them are good, and not annoying, but the vast majority of them are little 12 year old's that think they're amazing.

They're not.

there's some kickass spots in preston, but for the newest city in england, it's really missing a skatepark :(
the nearest park is either in blackpool (ramp city) and bolton (bones) lol, granted they some of the best skateparks in england:P but i would mind a concrete park in the city centre thats for sure!:)

well the closest town to me has the best spots ever
1st spot: a lot of smooth flatland, including a 6 flat 4
2nd spot: known as adams flatbanks and a gap
3rd spot : a nearby school with sets from 2 to 10

it's ok to good round here. there's loads of spots if your willing to either catch the bus down to my city or by the docks. plus there's a few ****** ledges and flatground spots near me. There's quite a few skaters right where i live but most of them are either much younger than me or asses. There's tons of skaters in my city center but most of them are pretty rubbish.
We've got one of the BEST skateshop around though. Second only to 5050 in bristol i'd say. It's got the nicest guys in there who know what they're on about. It sells it's own decks and clothing. Has premiers of skate videos (got a cinema projector and put on volcom chicago before anyone else got to see it one year) has random parties with free giveaway raffle things, and is in the very near future collaborating with DVS so the new DVS original intent shoe will have a special insole sporting it's logo:
http://www.scenepreston.com/catalog/popup_image.php?pID=2918 (http://http://www.scenepreston.com/catalog/popup_image.php?pID=2918)
they also have a great artistic thang going on aswell. They sell special paint and stuff and also support local music and stuff

the only thing we don't have is a local skatepark cos the old one closed down (to be fair it was well dangerous, i think one guy actually got killed their cos a ramp collapsed or something:S but if you can get someone to drive you for 30mins there's probably about the third best skatepark in England. It has the largest vert in England, it's absolutely amazing. so well maintained aswell and has such a variety of stuff. they add stuff and modify the layout every so often. They have a guy there called woody (ironically:p) who designs and part builds all the ramps and also has a skateshop there, plus he rips!

Aw man, I just left Woodbridge, England.
I'm in North Carolina atm.
Baha, you guys had chav problems? I lived in between two chavs, who's mates lived right down the street. =D
I still have scars on my knuckles from the first time one confronted me alone. =P
Yeah, I got it later, but hey, nothing more than a few bruises. At least I broke a nose.

Ha, let me try to remember woodbridge as it was, since I didn't start skating 'till I came here..
There were a good few stair sets that seemed perfect for "jumping", as I liked to jump over things all the time, almost like a smaller, parachute-less version of base jumping.
And I used to run down handrails, too.

There was a sick as hell stair set I always jumped..8 or so stairs? With a "hubba" on either side, and a hand rail in the middle, up by some concert hall.

Meh, I don't remember much.
Sad I had to leave.

Ireland sounds like the place, though. But you guys have some foony accents. lol
But, I'm sure you guys think the same of us.
