Well it is upon us the Skater's Cafe King of the Cafe. Each team of five skaters has one month to complete as many of these tricks and challanges. All videos must be edited and post by 12 midnight Eastern Standard Time on June 29th, 2007. Each challenge that is successfully met earns points for your team. At the end the team with the most points will be declaired the winner, and get a cake or something. Each team member must complete one objective in each catigory(the underlined part) or the team gets no points in the catigory. Also there will be two weekly challanges that the team can complete for bonus points. There are also 100 bonus points availible: 50 points for best team name and 50 points for best video. theGish asked if the flat tricks can be done down stairs. No all tricks in the flat group must be done on flat ground. Doing them on banks, down stairs, etc. makes some easier. Also unless stated otherwise all tricks must be done regular.

Manuals do not have to be long, just enough to prove you can do it. Slight pivots are allowed, but not full 180 pivots.

For grind gap grind and manual gap wheelie. You have to do a grind/manual then ollie a space, and do another grind/maual. There has to be a bit of space between the two boxes, rails, ledges, etc.

They have to be lagitimate grinds/slides meaning you have to ollie into them, but can be done on something on any height.

In my opinion, I think weeky challenges should be put in the tricks thread on a weekly bases....it keeps interest up, and make sure nobody forgets! The major points are coming at the end of June anyway, so the weekly challenges are just kinda like ''Pop Quiz''

and you gotta give it to the kid... he won two game of skate comps. the am and the pro. but i do concede to the fact that chris cole is absolutely amazing at skateboarding no matter what it is he is skating.

Of course both guys are awesome, and it's pretty obvious to me that discussing the quality of their skating is out of question, I'm just saying that Alex's 'backside 360' in the clip atrain posted should in no way be considered as a legit backside 360, he did a cheap backside ollie then powerslid, where's the difficulty in that, how is that harder than a backside 180 ? Such cheap shots shouldn't be allowed in this game, especially when it comes to 30+point-worth tricks, it would ruin everything...

A good 360 ollie has to be spun at least 270 degrees in the air or it's just cheating, everyone can do backside 180s on a slippery floor of some kind and extend their legs during the landing to powerslide the rest. Hell, you could even do smooth looking '540 ollies' like that.

And I know what you mean, and I'm not trying to be annoying, I'm just trying to prevent this game from being ruined by people posting half-assed tricks instead of trying their best and getting points they don't even deserve getting.

yeah to do it propper you will need to spin more than 180 to get it done and have it look right but it does not need to be all the way 270 either to look proper.

I know what you mean, but then again whether a trick feels proper or unproper depends on your own standards and these standards vary for everyone. For instance, atrain said he thought Miruzov's backside 360 was proper just because it looked smooth, while there's no way in hell I would personally count it since it's obvious to me that he doesn't even have the right technique down to spin an actual backside 360 ollie, all he does is a backside ollie to pivot and there is no way that a backside ollie to pivot matches a proper backside 360 in terms of difficulty. The odds are that the points for each trick in our list of challenges were determined according to the difficulty of the trick and the skills it takes to master its technique. In such a case the 'it looks smooth therefore it counts' logic doesn't apply, what matters is the technique since what's expected from you is to be able to actually do the trick, not to disguise easier tricks to make them look particularly good.

In my opinion that's how the ideal backside 360 (or any 360 ollie trick for that matter) should be done - it's all about the technique it takes to be able to spin it properly. Now, obviously I guess it's OK to let a few degrees slide just like they let it slide for Cole's trick and trust me I know from experience that even 90 degrees is pushing it for this kind of trick, but noone can do everything perfect all the time. I'm just saying that when it gets to the point where the skills it takes to master the technique of a trick are less considered than your abilities to disguise an easier trick with a different technique and make it look good, in a game where the scores are determined by the difficulty of the challenges, the whole thing just can't work.

Again, I don't mean to sound harsh or to be annoying in any way, I'm just pointing out what I think is right and I just want to prevent people from all teams from getting points they don't deserve so the game can be fair for everyone ;)

So today I found a 5 stair to ollie up, and looking at it, that top step has to be like chest high on me....So lets say hypothetically I do make it up, land 90 degrees, and then just pivot out, would our team still be awarded 30pts? I have a better shot at it that way...Because, 5 stairs, lol, is pretty darn high

YES! I measured that too (cause its at work and couldn't try it at the time), but its around 5-6 inches each step. I'm going to do first stall on each step going up and work my way to the top, rather then just going for it all at once

You don't want to see my nollie flips ;) They're butt ugly, I got them consistent on flat just recently (they used to be on and off), however I have good nollies down stuff, I just need to make it to the only 3 we have here on time and manage to get the trick before I get kicked out by the security, that's why I need to know how much time left I have exactly, so I don't waste my time and effort for nothing.

Kayce, could you try to make the next weekly challenge a little less spot-dependent? I don't have any stair sets, and skating at a grocery store is a good way to get arrested and/or have my camera stolen.

yes the lip is harder than the nollie flip i just got the lip on that F-in shopping cart and it definitely took me about an hour to get it where as the nollie flip was like 5 tries.

the wheel part... that support bar makes it really short and hard to do cuz to hit anything more than the very end you need to go over the back wheels. So its not impossible but actually a lot more difficult than it seems.

me and some friends have always skated carts behind a grocery store in my nieghborhood and i lipslid, fs boardslid, and bs boardslid it, i mean it took forever but i did it, and the really only trouble i had was not catching my trucks on the front wheel or something retarded like that, but i was just giving you a hint on how to get your team some points, you can take the advice or not, but i hope it helps

Monster walk is alternating end overs. The easiest way to do them is do a fs pivot on the nose, then a fs pivot from fakie. You will always be facing the same direction while doing a monster walk.
