View Full Version : GOS10 Discussion Thread
Pathtek4 06-09-2007, 12:04 AM Alright, lets get the historic "Game#10" on ;) lol!
Once again...Here are the rules...Any questions, please ask
1. All tricks must be done rolling.
2. Once the board leaves it wheels, it must land on all four wheels. No rail landings, manual landings, caspers, or 50-50s. No hands on board. No hands or feet on the ground, before or after trick.
Revision *Reverts/Pivots allowed*
3. When matching or setting, the trick must be done fairly clean. No toe-drag, the skater must be moving, with both feet solid on the board. You cannot stop and then tic tac away, you must land and roll away.
4. When you are selected to set, you have 2 days to set a trick, if you fail to set the trick you will be given a letter.
5. Players are given 4 days to match the trick, this can be made shorter when there are fewer players in the game, failing to match the trick also results in a letter.
6. No trick can be set more than once.
7. The game is run by the “Eastern (US & Canada)” time zone, so all tricks much be matched and set by the time stated in Eastern Time.
8. When you match or set a trick, post it up in the thread called “Game of skate 10tricks thread” this makes the tricks easier to locate instead of sorting through millions of pages of discussion.
9. When you match or set a trick, after you have landed the trick you must make the sign that is shown below, in front of the camera, any tricks without the sign will not be included.
10. You must roll away in the same position as the trick that has been set.
Hang sign for this game:

Sev7n, you have till Monday 1am to Set....Game on guys, game on :icon_woow
Varial_222 06-09-2007, 12:33 AM Lets get this game on :)
I need to match at least 1 trick in order for me to set.
And what is it with pathtek picking his name out last, AGAIN! :p
RobbySkateboard 06-09-2007, 12:37 AM oooh, I get to set second!
Despite me being 4th, I'm not going to be able to make it to my set. DBS' set is going to be so amazing it's going to give me 5 letters.
Sev7n 06-09-2007, 01:14 AM Alright guys, I've got plenty up my sleeve none of you've seen yet.. I'm close to hard double flips, I can land 1 1/2 and landed a few hard doubles but couldn't roll away.. :)
Don't expect a huge amount of difficulty though.
Supersonix6 06-09-2007, 01:55 AM What an epic game in the making!
Good luck to all of you. And I hope Tom can make it to his set. I havnt seen any of his footage before :)
P.s. Haha Pathtek, you need to buy a new hat for drawing names. I dont think it likes you ;)
TheBoss 06-09-2007, 02:28 AM Alright guys, I've got plenty up my sleeve none of you've seen yet.. I'm close to hard double flips, I can land 1 1/2 and landed a few hard doubles but couldn't roll away.. :)

Christ, hard double flips not hard?! :icon_bs:

Haha. That's me :icon_pelv
Sev7n 06-09-2007, 02:53 AM Haha. That's me :icon_pelv
Yeah right, only thing you're the boss of is fakie shove it tricks!
Pathtek4 06-09-2007, 08:01 AM What an epic game in the making!
Good luck to all of you. And I hope Tom can make it to his set. I havnt seen any of his footage before :)
P.s. Haha Pathtek, you need to buy a new hat for drawing names. I dont think it likes you ;)
HAHA, you may be right! Actually, this hat I used this time was an old hat of mine, that I don't wear anymore....It may just be mad at me {rf)
Yay, second last. From what I've been hearing about all the other competitors, I'll get no where close to setting LOL! Good luck everyone :)
DeadBlueSky 06-09-2007, 12:44 PM i've got just the trick for my set, its far from unobtainable, but is taxing enough to be a challenge but still rewarding :)
and then a hum-dinger of a follow up if i get a second go to set...
Varial_222 06-09-2007, 02:17 PM Are we allowed to set early grab fingerflip variations?
DeadBlueSky 06-09-2007, 02:19 PM 2. Once the board leaves it wheels, it must land on all four wheels. No rail landings, manual landings, caspers, or 50-50s. No hands on board. No hands or feet on the ground, before or after trick.
Revision *Reverts/Pivots allowed*
i guess this answers your question
Are we allowed to set early grab fingerflip variations?
No rail landings, manual landings, caspers, or 50-50s. No hands on board. No hands or feet on the ground, before or after trick.
I guess this answers it all ;) Wait ! Doesn't this mean that the ollie fingerflip Phlap set in GOS9 shouldn't have counted ?
EDIT - Dang DBS beat me to it !
DeadBlueSky 06-09-2007, 02:22 PM because i'm quicker than a very quick thing in turbo mode ;)
Varial_222 06-09-2007, 02:22 PM ^^ In answer to YOUR question mrck, it says no hands on board BEFORE or AFTER the trick, nothing about during.
^^ In answer to YOUR question mrck, it says no hands on board BEFORE or AFTER the trick, nothing about during.
Yes it does, it says 'no hands on board', then 'no hands / feet on the ground, before and after trick'.
Early grab fingerflip would be before the trick anyways wouldn't it?
Sev7n 06-09-2007, 09:15 PM Yeah so it'd be a no-go.. wait, does that rule apply for the BGOS? :)
I'll have my set up tonight or tomorrow night most likely.
charmander 06-10-2007, 11:26 AM Hey, do you guys mind if I make a video for GOS10?
Sev7n 06-10-2007, 12:45 PM That'd be sweet.. but I think Roboman is going to?
That'd be sweet.. but I think Roboman is going to?
Less talky talky, more sety sety.
Pathtek4 06-10-2007, 01:12 PM Less talky talky, more sety sety.
haha...that's witty and brilliant!
It should be a regular ''sig quote'' for my signature, but I have no more room lol!
atrain 06-10-2007, 04:08 PM ^ last time i tried to edit my sig it told me i exceeded the maximum of three lines for my sig.... which is strange because ive had much more than that in the past and i see alot of people with more than 3 lines
Shorty's_Kid 06-10-2007, 04:11 PM Darn. I was hoping i would be able to actually set in this game.
Hopefully next time i'll get in the first 5.
Sev7n 06-10-2007, 04:54 PM Bah, sorry not to have gotten my set thus far guys.. been forced to work in a garden all day under the baking sun by the evil family units! Or, parents..
Anyway, my set will be up tonight.. or by 1 this morning. :p

that probably means you're gonna be back in bgos7 :icon_bunc :icon_bunc :icon_bunc

oh really?
could i perhaps get a hint of your set (in private message)
btw im not a ****, nor do i talk to anyone from the gos10, so i would have no reason to tell them.

He was on the phone with me a minute ago.. he's gone out to film his set. He said some sort of hardflip would be his back-up but if not he has a major heavy hitter for you guys. Though I think most of you will match, haha.
Shorty's_Kid 06-10-2007, 10:07 PM I know, hahaha. I'm bringing the big guns out early though :)
Yeah i had a hell of a set to make, until i found out i wont be setting.
RobbySkateboard 06-10-2007, 10:56 PM I might not be able to match the first one, I might get the camera taken away, but I hopefully will get my set up IF I can't get the camera for a match, who knows, I just don't want a letter on a trick I can do, haha
Sev7n 06-10-2007, 11:29 PM I've got my match.. I decided to start sort of easy. I learned these in like 5 minutes, and in a line :)
RobbySkateboard 06-10-2007, 11:52 PM you can't do lines, one trick!
I've got my match.. I decided to start sort of easy. I learned these in like 5 minutes, and in a line :)
That's a set, not match heh. Anyways, nice set, those are annoying.
Sev7n 06-10-2007, 11:54 PM you can't do lines, one trick!
Haha, you're only supposed to do the first.
RobbySkateboard 06-10-2007, 11:55 PM so what trick? the kickflp bs body varial?
Sev7n 06-10-2007, 11:58 PM so what trick? the kickflp bs body varial?
Yeah. That is the first trick. I didn't mean any confusion by that, haha.
dirtysanchez 06-11-2007, 12:03 AM you can't do lines, one trick!
he was kidding lol, you dont have to do the halfcab/shove
edit - sev7n beat me to saying it
Sev7n 06-11-2007, 12:12 AM Hah yeah man..
So, anyone plan on not matching this?
Haha, I see roboman viewing the thread.. I watched the GOS video that's why I learned these :)
I should have some time today after school to go out and try this. I've never tried them backside >_<
Sev7n 06-11-2007, 10:58 AM I should have some time today after school to go out and try this. I've never tried them backside >_<
Ah, they're not that bad, just hell to roll away from :)
I think I'll get my match tommorow, I have three exams this week and I'll have four more next week so it's hard to find some spare time for a sesh (which is why I didn't sign up for Bank GOS 2, and why my Member of the Month interview isn't up yet), hopefully it won't interfere with my availibility for this game (even though I got a potential set on film yesterday just in case).

That'd be crazy to get MRCK a letter, haha

Yeah, I'd feel like I didn't suck ;)

You don't have to fear anything from me in a game of SKATE though, when I'm against someone who can't do as many tricks as I can I usually take it easy and set simple yet fun tricks to make them want to try and learn them. For instance if I had joined my first set would probably have been a heelflip body varial or something like that ;) My set in Bank GOS1 was really easy too, and I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed it :)

oh haha, well thats good to know.
are you going to be in aagos3/bank gos3?
was your first set in bgos1 the fs nocomply tail revert or something? or the ollie late flip-fakie

I think you should get a different name for bank game of skte 1 as BGOS1 becuz I was thinking of Beginner Game of skate one.

yeah i think they call it BSGOS now, for bank/slope game of skate
skatinkrazy 06-11-2007, 01:32 PM yeah i think they call it BSGOS now, for bank/slope game of skate
Yes, much better.
But hey boys, there is a game of skate going on here and we are taking about lots of other crpa that has nothing to do with it. So lets let them play, ey?
dirtysanchez 06-11-2007, 01:35 PM *cough*siyoun spin*cough*
thats a nollie gazelle kiwiflip right?
if so, ill have those learned in like another 5 months.
i like kiwiflips.
Varial_222 06-11-2007, 01:36 PM I just matched the kickflip bs body varial, i shall post in a few minutes :)
oh haha, well thats good to know.

My first set was the fs no-comply to tail revert indeed, the late flip to fakie was my second set and I set it just because it was probably going to be my last set as I no longer had access to a bank at the time ;) In fact I think I could have matched everything in the first game if I had been able to commit (I can do more tricks on banks than on flat), I just lost interest and let the others play.
I'm not sure whether I'll enter AAGOS3 or not since AAGOS2 will probably last a while (aronsamma :icon_woow) and if I win it it will be enough for me, I'll definitely enter Bank GOS 3 though, since it will probably take place during the holidays and I'll have plenty of time then :)

ah im not good with fs no comply tricks.
i dont know why
lateflips, i think i could get them within three days
lol aagos2 is crazy man, i think there was too many boneless double handflips/mute grab handflips etc
you and aronsamma are probably gonna post mostly no comply tricks amirite?
good luck to ya both
Yeah I guess we're going to set mostly no-comply tricks in AAGOS2, boneless variations don't offer a lot of challenge, in order to get each other letters we're going to have to go awkward :icon_haha and since we both seem to have a lot of experience when it comes to no-comply tricks it's going to last a while and be fun :)
*cough*siyoun spin*cough*
Haha, GOS7 was my first game here and I had no idea of what the standard of the tricks were going to be like, so I just went for the hardest tricks I could do back then. I really thought people were going to match it and / or to set this kind of stuff, notice how I lowered my standard in GOS8 with the plasma spin, and now I'm the one who's overwhelmed by the kind of stuff atrain and supersonix set, haha :icon_drib

haha you should pull a todd falcon on him.
its a no comply 1/2 impossible, and you just keep the board on your foot.
you could do a buncha weird flips out of that position
Thanks for the idea but from what I know, Todd Falcon is Aron's favorite skater and main inspiration of all time, therefore I'm pretty sure he can already do his tricks as well as a bunch of variations, I really don't think I should set such stuff if I want to win...
[/runs]

oh boy ahah, thats ironic.
aronsamma 06-11-2007, 02:14 PM also very very false.
I'll show you some awkward when my set comes mrck... grrrr. your feet'll have to go behind your head or some such madness
My match is up, and boy do I need a new place to skate. I mean, I'm sharing a piece of cement behind a garage with a bunch of heroin addicts.
Varial_222 06-11-2007, 02:53 PM Yet again i can't see qtips match XD
Did you "save movie file" with WMM or did you just regular save it?
Yet again i can't see qtips match XD
Did you "save movie file" with WMM or did you just regular save it?
It's a .mov, you need quicktime.
skatinkrazy 06-11-2007, 03:14 PM It worked fine for me.
Varial_222 06-11-2007, 03:25 PM ^^ My quicktime is acting up.
RobbySkateboard 06-11-2007, 04:23 PM he was kidding lol, you dont have to do the halfcab/shove
edit - sev7n beat me to saying it
I wasn't kidding, I thought he honestly meant he was doing a line, but I wasn't trying to say it mean, just the ! for emphasis! like that
Shorty's_Kid 06-11-2007, 04:45 PM YAY! an easy set! i would go match right now but we have severe thudnerstorms on our way, and its pouring right now.
Pathtek = my hero for giving me a gold bar. haha.
YAY! an easy set!
You'll be surprised.
DeadBlueSky 06-11-2007, 06:57 PM its a weird trick for sure, i'll have camera time on wednesday, i'll be getting my match then. :)
RobbySkateboard 06-11-2007, 06:58 PM yeah I just tried these, harder than I expected I keep over flipping it, I can get double kickflip bs body varial, will that count? Lol, just kidding of course.
yeah I just tried these, harder than I expected I keep over flipping it, I can get double kickflip bs body varial, will that count? Lol, just kidding of course.
Yeah, I landed a few double ones before I changed my foot positioning and got it right.
Shorty's_Kid 06-11-2007, 09:28 PM You'll be surprised.
I've done them before. They are pretty easy.
Well it's starting to dry up but no batteries for the camera. I'll have my match up tomorrow though.
Roboman 06-11-2007, 09:54 PM Hey, I set this one in GOS7! And Pathtek and MRCK both matched it at the time.
I actually really like the way this trick feels. They seem to suck up really high.
I'll match this tomorrow, I have a bit of time after school before it's maad homework time haha!
Sev7n 06-11-2007, 11:26 PM Hey, I set this one in GOS7! And Pathtek and MRCK both matched it at the time.
I actually really like the way this trick feels. They seem to suck up really high.
Yeah, it feels really loose to me, I just hate the roll away because it's hard to keep going since the landing is a bit awkward.. I might have to set a heelflip f/s body next if I'm still in, haha.
RobbySkateboard 06-11-2007, 11:57 PM I snapped my kingpin today, so I may not be able to match even though I landed one today (I didn't have access to a camera today though, so I was practicing them) But hopefully I plan on getting whole new trucks so I stop snapping kingpins.
Grrr I forgot how long matching times can be when you match first day.
Shorty's_Kid 06-12-2007, 04:43 PM My match is up. Thanks for setting somthing easy! lol. I thought i would get all 5 letters in the first set knowing you guys. haha.
atrain 06-12-2007, 10:03 PM i think this is one of those tricks i never bothered to try for the longest time and landed the first time i ever tried it. they are fun though! kickflip bs 360 body's is where it starts getting challenging
DeadBlueSky 06-13-2007, 04:23 AM nah it starts to get challenging at kickclip 270 body varial shiftys ;)
Shorty's_Kid 06-13-2007, 10:30 AM ^Yes, that would be fairly challenging. haha.
nah it starts to get challenging at kickclip 270 body varial shiftys ;)
How would that even work? Would you catch the board at 180, then spin 90 and shifty back, or spin the board 90 degrees in hardflip direction then spin 270 and shifty back?
Sev7n 06-13-2007, 02:09 PM Haha holy crap that'd be confusing.
Pathtek4 06-13-2007, 02:12 PM How would that even work? Would you catch the board at 180, then spin 90 and shifty back, or spin the board 90 degrees in hardflip direction then spin 270 and shifty back?
I think he means kickflip w/ 270 body varial plus a shifty for love at the end...Nice trick, something I would need a ledge to bother to attempt
But if you spun 270 from a kickflip, you wouldn't face the right way to land on the board.
Pathtek4 06-13-2007, 02:36 PM 90 x 3 = 270....So you do 90 degrees short of a 360, then shifty into a 90 from that direction to the straight
DeadBlueSky 06-13-2007, 02:42 PM i got rained out today so no sets or matches were filmed, its more of a 270 body varial to nose pivot really so you finish fakie after turning 270
Sev7n 06-14-2007, 03:31 PM i got rained out today so no sets or matches were filmed, its more of a 270 body varial to nose pivot really so you finish fakie after turning 270
Ah I see now, that sounded super confusing.
Any hints on your set, DBS?
RobbySkateboard 06-14-2007, 03:52 PM well let's not confuse people, before DBS sets, it's my set, I got confused, I was like, wait, isnn't it my turn? So just wait until DBS set to see...
Shorty's_Kid 06-14-2007, 03:52 PM ^Whatever his set is, it's going to be freaking impossible for any of us. hahaha.
please do somthing easy so i can make it set 7. haha.

Haha, I seem to confuse people a lot eh?
I just relearned 360 flips, I doubt I'll match this.
RobbySkateboard 06-14-2007, 03:55 PM haha, I wouldn't have admitted that you just learned 360 flips, I wouldn't have lied either, but I would've kept that a secret, now I'm going to set a 540 flip if it comes back to me! Next time I'll have more time to set, this time I just had to get one up because I didn't know whether or not I'de have access to a camera today or at all this week. It turns out, I do, haha

I can do them, haha. Just takes me forever to get. For some reason I had them for a week more consistent than 360 flips.
Robby, I hate you with a passion for setting this trick. I got a few close ones, but never got it right. Any tips? How do you set your feet for this? How do you flick?
RobbySkateboard 06-14-2007, 08:02 PM If I told it wouldn't be a good strategy would it? hehe
Supersonix6 06-14-2007, 08:25 PM Hahah, I just learnt 540 flips trying to get a 540 double flip for the King of the Cafe. Doubles are hard......
RobbySkateboard 06-14-2007, 08:35 PM you couldn't 540 flip before? I did a trick before ss6?!?!?!?!?
You need to get it though, because I'm unconsistant with them and I can't double them, haha, I'll try, so we have 2x the chance at getting them, but yeah, you'll probably be the one who gets it.
Pathtek4 06-14-2007, 08:41 PM Hahah, I just learnt 540 flips trying to get a 540 double flip for the King of the Cafe. Doubles are hard......
You got that right...I can 540flip on more occasions then off, but the doubleflip version is just ridiculous! The foot position for it just doesnt seem to matter as much as the brutal kick that has to go with it
I set the 540flip in GOS5, and looking at it now, it was very sketchy, I should of done a different one
Zja4hS1J4L0
RobbySkateboard 06-14-2007, 08:47 PM Path, I resent that! That's how mine look, and you're saying it's sketchy =( haha just kdding they are sketchy, but thats the best I've got! I try my hardest damn it! (futurama)
Pathtek4 06-14-2007, 08:59 PM Path, I resent that! That's how mine look, and you're saying it's sketchy =( haha just kdding they are sketchy, but thats the best I've got! I try my hardest damn it! (futurama)
Sketchy for a GOS game of skate though...Sketchy for just landing it without a GOS set-worthy trick? Nah, it wasnt all bad :p
Shorty's_Kid 06-14-2007, 08:59 PM Hey, i might actually be able to do this one. It'll take some hard work, but i should be able to pull it off.
And robby, what the hell is wrong with your camera? you cant even tell you even did anything on your match, and your set looks like a kickflip. lol.
Out of curiosity, would a trick such as a shove-it to nollie shove-it count if done quickly without a nose manual?
RobbySkateboard 06-14-2007, 10:20 PM as in shove it and land on four wheels then quicly nollie shove? It wouldn't count.
skatinkrazy 06-14-2007, 10:23 PM as in shove it and land on four wheels then quicly nollie shove? It wouldn't count.
He said land in nose manual.
RobbySkateboard 06-14-2007, 10:28 PM Out of curiosity, would a trick such as a shove-it to nollie shove-it count if done quickly without a nose manual?
nope, he said without a nose manual.
Pretty much like a shove-it nose pivot, except instead of me pivoting with the board I shove-it.
Once the board leaves it wheels, it must land on all four wheels.
I guess this answers your question ;)
But there has been varial flip pivots and nollie shove-it body varial reverts, so I figured we just decided "to hell with that rule".
Yeah the issue has been raised in the GOS8 or 9 Discussion thread I believe, which resulted in the following :
Revision *Reverts/Pivots allowed*
Yet fancy footwork remains forbidden ;)
Aaah! I was getting close to tre flip nose shove-its, I thought maybe I can get a tre flip nollie bigspin for gos10 :)
EDIT: Rainbow bar!
RobbySkateboard 06-15-2007, 12:43 PM that's not a revert though, that's fancy footwork, you can do a 360 flip revert, but no nose shoves.
Yeah, doesn't matter too much anyways. Hey, I'm not sure when the tre double flip match is due, but I'm going to be surfing on the north coast, so could I get a slight extension?
RobbySkateboard 06-15-2007, 01:11 PM it's due in 4 days I believe.
Varial_222 06-15-2007, 03:29 PM Haha dbs, you posted your match with 30 mins of the dealine to spare :)
DeadBlueSky 06-15-2007, 04:11 PM thats because i'm a super cool dude
fashionably late!
Sev7n 06-15-2007, 04:18 PM Fashionably 30 minutes early :p
Pathtek4 06-15-2007, 09:08 PM Well, times up for the match of Sev7n's set...Moving on :)! Next match (360 Doubleflip) will be due by Tuesday 6-19...
Q, if you need an extension, no problem, just let me know when YOU want to have your match deadline extended to (you know, what you need till)
Where's the match video?
I've had no time lately, been sick, spent two nights back to back all-nightering it for school, and I'll be up most of the night tonight getting ready for the show my band is playing tomorrow night in Toronto. The earliest I'll have a chance is god knows when with my exams this coming week.
Pathtek4 06-16-2007, 08:18 AM ^You mean the ''set'' video? That is at the end of Robby's match video.
I know you've been sick bro, do you want a day or 2 to see if you can match it if your feeling better? (and why'd you call me last night, then hang up, or did you hi speed dial on accident again? :p I called you back anyway)
^ The sickness is no problem, I've just been over the top with school work, and busy with tonight's battle of the bands. I'll watch the clip later then maybe tomorrow if I have time.
:p I just called to tell you I won't be matching cause of all the stuff that's going on. You're voicemail came on, so I just hung up figuring you were busy....with...uhh, well friday night matters *wink wink*

BUSY?? HAHA! I was at my Nephews baseball game cursing up the umpire for some bad calls and this lady with the worst ''Fake-n-bake'' tan got into it with me...Her husband said something, which require me to say ''hey captain steriods, arnold called and he wants his muscles back'' which started a entire applause from the cheer section lmao! Right about then you called, and I wanted you to hear me cleverly going off on people
Shorty's_Kid 06-16-2007, 02:17 PM Ahh damn, i cant figure out how to flip it right. It either flips two times but only rotates 270, or only flips 1 and a half and does the 360. If i work really hard i might get it up on tuesday, but thats the earliest ill get it.
Oh, and i beleive that we should switch the "5 pm eastern time" to "5 pm china time" so i get until 5 in the morning on wednesday.
TheBoss 06-16-2007, 03:21 PM I second that motion! It'd be good for the US players :)
Sev7n 06-16-2007, 03:22 PM I second that motion! It'd be good for the US players :)
Haha you're not even in this game Steve
DeadBlueSky 06-17-2007, 01:13 PM i've had this trick on lock for years now, i might go out and get one afteri have eaten
arto-geoff 06-17-2007, 03:52 PM sorry i havnt been active in this game fellas had trouble gettin a cam, ill be more active from now though
DeadBlueSky 06-17-2007, 04:12 PM goddam my match was poor, i love the english weather.
I thought it looked pretty cool, the weather here has been terrible over the past week so I don't know if I'll be able to get matches for all the games of SKATE I'm in on time, not to mention that I have exams on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and thus I won't be able to skate a lot until then. I'll still try to get a few minutes of spare time tomorrow :)
Varial_222 06-17-2007, 04:19 PM There seems to be bad weather all over Europe at the moment.
DeadBlueSky 06-17-2007, 04:25 PM i blame france...
(not really)
i've also decided on my set, it won't be too hard, quite awkward though, its a change from what i initially picked because i want to save my better tricks for when i need them :)

"Better" being, what, like.. a switch triple impossible late double flip body varial to x foot? Some nonesense like that?
Edit: I doubt I'm gonna match but I can land 1 1/2 flipped and 1 3/4 to rail on these.
DeadBlueSky 06-17-2007, 05:20 PM nope, i just learned some tricks i am very proud of and i'd like to hang back on them so i don't use up the good stuff too soon :)

You have quite an arsenal of tricks
I'm going to need a plastic bag to **** in when I see your set, so please let me know before hand :p
DeadBlueSky 06-17-2007, 05:26 PM nah, my first set will be pretty easy once you get your head around it. its an uncommon take on a pretty common trick :) no late flip/underflip skills required :)

Ah, good!
It'll probably still be.. ****-my-pants worthy just because it was your set, haha.
Anyways, I am going to finish watching Borat which my parents ever so rudely interrupted upon.
Shorty's_Kid 06-18-2007, 09:45 PM Yeah i dont think i'll be able to match this after all. I cant get it past 1 1/2.
But i landed a one footed overcrook today. :)
Yeah i dont think i'll be able to match this after all. I cant get it past 1 1/2.
They come way easier when you don't focus on the pop and concentrate on the double flip instead, try applying a lot of pressure on the toe-side edge of your deck concave before popping, it helped me a lot :)

Yeah but you're so good your board winces in pain when it doesn't do the right trick
Yeah but you're so good your board winces in pain when it doesn't do the right trick
Meh, it only winces in pain from bouncing and scraping on the ground when I miss my tricks 75% of the time  If my board was my girlfriend she would have broke up for a while already.
aronsamma 06-19-2007, 08:27 AM Sounds like Darran's doing a crossfooted tre flip. Not that I have any actual reason to believe that, but whatever.
the weather here is pretty intense too. there are thunderstorms all over the place, and I bet my electricity will go out any minute.
Supersonix6 06-19-2007, 10:37 AM Dont get all worried and worked up over Darran's trick. You all expect too much out of the poor guy! It's one of those tricks that you never see but is basically an uncommon variation of a well known trick.
Cross footed Tre flips are just messed up too haha :)
aronsamma 06-19-2007, 10:53 AM i only say that because i've seen him do it before
Sev7n 06-19-2007, 11:36 AM You mean that duck flip, as Mrck called it?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv_3LFV1hPE
2:02?
That'd be insane. Unless you mean 360 flip to x foot land.
arto-geoff 06-19-2007, 12:39 PM guys can i have a few more mins to try and post this up i filmed 1 but i need to upload it and stuff and i oculdnt do it earlier as i was in town
Sev7n 06-19-2007, 12:50 PM You've got near 5 hours, Paddy.
DeadBlueSky 06-19-2007, 02:30 PM just posted my set in the tricks thread :)
Raaaaad trick idea :) I love varial heelflips, I should be able to get that one without too much trouble.
DeadBlueSky 06-19-2007, 02:41 PM its a fun trick, i figured i would start with something awkward and interesting than just outright difficult, all that stuff can wait for when i need it ;)
Now that I think about it I've done a few varial heel reverts on a bank in the past, which I guess basically relies on the same technique. I'm eager to try this trick, it sounds like great fun :) I'll probably set something attainable too when I get to set then, since you took it easy on the first turn. I'll have to think of something fun and interesting...
DeadBlueSky 06-19-2007, 03:08 PM its not the hardest trick in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but it is deceptive, the fakie varial heel makes it a little more odd to revert than normal
Shorty's_Kid 06-19-2007, 03:36 PM Go ahead and add a K to me. No way in hell i'll be able to get close to this one. If it was nollie, maybe, but i cant do anything involving a heelflip in fakie (i know, i'm weird)
Pathtek4 06-19-2007, 03:46 PM A black cloud has decended upon me with a varial heel set...My #1 nemesis and I are going head to head: Me vs. Varial Heel (Fakie or not, still a pain in my rear)
Edit* Signature updated
DeadBlueSky 06-19-2007, 03:56 PM if any of you guys get the trick down, its a good stepping stone for fakie varial heelflip fakie manuals :)
I still haven't been able to try the 360 double flip, been busy with community service stuff. I'll see if I can skate tomorrow in the late afternoon though.
Sev7n 06-19-2007, 07:37 PM I hopefully will get a match for this. I learned varial heels and can get them fairly well.
Oh man I'm on little sleep lots of stress. I've been teaching at this camp for kids who's parents are in jail/addicted to drugs, and it's been insane. I've skated for a total of like 20 minutes in the past week. I did go out today for a few minutes and film the 360 double flip, so that's good. On friday the camp finishes, so hopefully I'll be on lots of sleep little stress mode :)
Pathtek4 06-20-2007, 08:55 PM Qtip, I don't mean to rain on your parade (sounds like your a very busy guy as of late), but I don't think that match counts man. I think the slow motion says it all when you land, even if it is a bit short of a full 360, you come to a complete stop. I don't know, if everyone else believes it should count, then i'll stand wrong, but in my opinion, that stop and turn is whats hurting it. (I didnt get a match, so kudos to you for getting it anyways)

Hmm, well I'm sort of in between.
I suppose since he is so busy that he should have further extension or it count
RobbySkateboard 06-20-2007, 10:11 PM I set the trick and I say qtips counts, I mean, he did the trick, that's the hardest part. Also, I'm excited to tru this fakie varial heel revert, it should be a good challange, I recently learned fakie varial heels luckily, so reverting it shouldn't be too much extra time to learn, I have a feeling I'll match it, hopefully.

It's actually.. a big step from fakie varial heelflips. I can get them most of the time, but reverting them is just hell!

well then, crap, haha
Shorty's_Kid 06-20-2007, 11:33 PM I cant even flip a fakie varial heel, so dont feel bad. haha
yet i get them bolt to bolt 1 in 5 tries when i do them nollie..... hmmm... i think God hit me with a "Your Weird" Stick before i was born. :p

That's actually pretty normal.
Pathtek4 06-21-2007, 06:16 AM Foot position for fakie varial heel? Does anyone turn their feet so your toes are facing forward on both feet? It seems easier for me, but the board isn't cooperating (as usual with this trick)...My destiny is to learn it ONCE AND FOR ALL!
DeadBlueSky 06-21-2007, 07:47 AM i set up as normal for these, i just adjust the way i pop, i know a few people who adjust their feet so they are facing forward though
RobbySkateboard 06-21-2007, 12:35 PM my footing for fakie varial heels is just like a heelflip but my backfoot (I guess front foot in fakie) hangs off alot more and pushes the tail with my toes as it heelflips, but I absolutely suck at varial heels.
So Pathtek does the tre double flip count?
Shorty's_Kid 06-23-2007, 04:55 PM Qtip's turn to set
please set somthing easy... like a frontside flip... haha.
p m s 06-23-2007, 07:55 PM Qtip says that he will either set a nollie lazerflip or something easy like that... end quote. :)
hes too lazy to log into his account.

I got that a lot when I was young
Particularly in the last year or two
TimTim 06-23-2007, 08:33 PM can i join the game
can i join the game
You have to wait for GOS11, plus there are certain requirements to meet.
Pathtek4 06-23-2007, 10:05 PM Yes, Q, your on the clock :) (and yes the match counted..
Shorty's_Kid 06-23-2007, 11:07 PM I'll give you an e-cookie if you set somthing easy! haha.
dirtysanchez 06-23-2007, 11:45 PM danggg
STOP POSTING!
Pathtek, there should be an S next to my name in your sig.
RobbySkateboard 06-24-2007, 12:50 PM crap, I totally forgot, haha, I matched it off camera, haha, oh well, I would've wasted alot of tape trying to match this.
Guys, I filmed a sketchy ass nollie hardflip. If it doesn't count, I do have a backup forward flip, but I don't want to set the same thing two games in a row. So first I want to hear if this one counts, if not I'll see if I have time tomorrow to film a good one. If not, I guess I'll just use the forward flip.
EDIT: Forgot the hardflip: http://media.putfile.com/nolliehardflip
Hickey 06-24-2007, 10:58 PM man you guys all have massive skills!!
Shorty's_Kid 06-24-2007, 11:27 PM I say it dosent count. You have to land on all four wheels, and rolling, you landed on the tail, and stopped.
But hey, Nollie hardflip or Forward Flip, i've got a letter.
RobbySkateboard 06-24-2007, 11:55 PM I can't see the clip (no quicktime) but if your tail scraps, definately not a land for a game of skate.
Yeah I'll film another one tomorrow, don't want to set the forward flip two games in a row.
atrain 06-25-2007, 03:33 PM nice set Qtip! i broke my new board yesterday landing one of those too hard on the tail :(
RobbySkateboard 06-25-2007, 03:52 PM my board is on the virge of snapping on the nose, it's chipping alot and now it's like 2 ply instead of 5.
Here's a better nollie hard:
http://media.putfile.com/nolliehardflip3
DeadBlueSky 06-25-2007, 07:39 PM i've not done a nollie hardflip in a long time, i hope i still have them in me :(
Pathtek4 06-25-2007, 07:45 PM I have 2 dilemma's:
1st, I have never tried a nollie hardflip :(
Secondly, I'm a complete idiot and I left my board in my truck which is at the garage for an indefinite amount of days while I drive this Kia Optima around. They had my Xterra all last week, fixed the overheating problem, but now they screwed up something with a cylinder...SO, I gotta put together another board in the meantime to try it, but not having my current ''pride-n-joy'' is going to make it even more impossible :p

EDIT: Oh, I wrote a poem for my set.
Just a single flip
And a single spin
Yet this trick remains
Annoying as sin
DeadBlueSky 06-25-2007, 08:13 PM mine are low and mobbed to hell,
but they flat spin so they could always be worse :)
RobbySkateboard 06-25-2007, 08:28 PM I'll be taking a letter, haha.
Sev7n 06-25-2007, 10:24 PM I'll be taking a letter, haha.
Same, heh, I tried it earlier and they come out as nollie vertical shove to sacktap!
Same, heh, I tried it earlier and they come out as nollie vertical shove to sacktap!
Well there's your next set ;)
Sev7n 06-25-2007, 10:50 PM Well there's your next set ;)
I'd be out by then, but my next set will probably be some sort of sigma flip or shove it to late shove it haha
RobbySkateboard 06-25-2007, 11:08 PM if I get another set, I'm setting a pop shove it tailgrab late fingerflip, so get prepared if it comes back to me!
Shorty's_Kid 06-26-2007, 04:09 PM yeah so i cant even flip these... if you did a normal hardflip, i would've had my match up like 5 minutes after you set it. but nooo you had to go nollie. haha.
I'm thinking about going with a switch mike V boneless if i ever get a set... or a nollie lazer. which would you guys prefer? ha.

No boneless tricks, so I'd say nollie lazer.
aronsamma 06-26-2007, 05:13 PM especially imaginary ones
DeadBlueSky 06-27-2007, 12:53 PM ended up doing it weird but they all count i guess, convncing myself i was rolling fakie was the key in the end, i struggled to get this today, the spot was terrible

DBS what kind of shoes are those? They look pretty rad.
DeadBlueSky 06-27-2007, 01:19 PM a pair of nike zoom sb's in blue white and orange
now that i don't get my shoes from a single source anymore...

DeadBlueSky 06-27-2007, 01:46 PM actually i would. comfortable and wear in quickly, though protection wise i would recommend attacking them with superglue unless you are adverse to your shoe looking like crap, they have the standard life span of any other shoe at the moment.
I've been thinking of buying some nikes, but they don't have them in my country so I would have to order them. I might just stick to Lakai since they are accessible and pretty damn good.
DeadBlueSky 06-27-2007, 02:07 PM i wouldn't go out of my way for them (unless they had a phylon fused toecap...)
with current "low key" trends in skate shoes all of them behave in pretty much the same way, you just need to pick a logo and a colour you like really
Well guys, my set is officially over, and to make Pathtek's life easier, here are the standings:

RobbySkateboard 06-29-2007, 02:18 PM ah great, no MRCK gets to set!
Pathtek4 06-29-2007, 03:18 PM Thanks so much Q-Tip...Sig updated, and my chances of survival looks very slim because MRCK is ruthless :p
My set is up, it's a halfcab 1/2 flip late 1/2 heel. Don't let the name put you off, you will probably find it quite easy if you have consistent halfcab flips, just go for one and get your back foot in the way halfway through the flip, and the board should magically bounce back in the opposite direction. The landing is the hardest part but it's just a matter of commitment, and it would probably help a lot to learn 1/2 flip late 1/2 heels beforehand, they're pretty easy too and will help you get a feel for the halfcab version. Good luck :)
RobbySkateboard 06-29-2007, 03:45 PM Pardon my language, but YOU BASTARD haha, getting all tech with me, I'll give it a shot, but if I don't get this MRCK, TO THE MOON!

It's easier than you would think, or at least I've always found it quite natural for some reason, it was one of my first 1/2 something late 1/2 something variations, give it a shot and you'll probably be surprised ;) I had harder tricks on film but since DBS set something easy, I thought I wouldn't set anything unattainable either. It's an interesting trick isn't it ?
Shorty's_Kid 06-29-2007, 03:53 PM The name really did throw me off. But when you explained it better, it made it sound much easier.
Im gonna go try it now, and you probably just made it sound asy to give me false hope, and i'll go try one and wont even get close. haha.
dirtysanchez 06-29-2007, 03:53 PM mrck, what were your other tricks, if you dont mind me asking?
RobbySkateboard 06-29-2007, 03:55 PM If I land this MRCK, I'm plus repping the hell out of you for inspiring/making me learn a new trick that sounds really techy.

Well if this can help, I find that the key is to pop your halfcab flip quite high (but not too high either, just enough for your board to not roll on the ground ;)) and kick down with your back foot as if you wanted to catch the trick earlier than usual, experiment with different speeds for the flip and different timings for the late kick and you will probably end up getting the grasp of it. And again, I would recommand to learn to at least flip 1/2 kick late 1/2 heels beforehand, they're fairly easy and will probably help a lot :)
Shorty's_Kid 06-29-2007, 04:03 PM ^Easy for you, i just tried it like 50 times and couldnt even begin to get it right.
I'm not coordinated enough for this crap... by the time i got my back foot up to kick it back it had already done 1 1/2 flips and landed on the ground. lol.

Did you try the non half-cab, regular stance version first ?
RobbySkateboard 06-29-2007, 04:09 PM MRCK, +rep, I landed one! off camera, but I'll land it again, don't worry, thanks for making me learn a new trick, also, you were right, pretty easy after you get over the name, I leanded one after about 10 minutes.
Shorty's_Kid 06-29-2007, 07:08 PM Did you try the non half-cab, regular stance version first ?
Yeah i tried both. With the regular stance one i could get my heel up and kiock it but it hits the ground every time i do... it just goes straight down even when i kick forward to get it back.
Thanks so much Q-Tip...Sig updated, and my chances of survival looks very slim because MRCK is ruthless :p
Just a reminder, because of legal issues with the rapper Q-tip, there is no dash in Qtip :P
xPsychopatic 06-29-2007, 07:53 PM Everyone is getting PWNed.
RobbySkateboard 06-29-2007, 08:04 PM not in the least, a few people have no letters, and some do, this is not pwned. and pwned is noob talk.

I didn't, I just went for it, haha, and I got it, but I won't have a camera this weekend I don't think and I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled on monday, so could I have an extension IF I can't get to a camera?

Uh, you do realize most of us are tech skaters right?

A label that implies that... ?

Just a joke on the whole "it takes a tech skater 50 tries to land a trick" thing.

Haha OK, I thought you were being serious :) My bad.
DeadBlueSky 06-30-2007, 08:51 AM not done this trick in a while either, we're having weather problems as well as my moving house, but i think i can get this within the time limit

Yeah I guess living in a house that can move could be a problem sometimes :P
RobbySkateboard 06-30-2007, 05:08 PM so can I get an extension since I won't have a camera until monday (my dad has it) and Monday morning I'm getting my wisdom teeth pulled and the oral surgeon said no skating until wednesday, and I should probably wait until Friday if I could.
Ok, I got the camera for ten minutes today, I did a little 1 minute rapid warm up and then got the trick within 5 minutes, and uploaded it and now the camera is gone. The match is pretty sloppy, I'm not going to lie, my toe touches the ground (not really touches as in applied pressure to, but it scraped) and it was a little underrotated on the halfcab, but can I get credit for it anyways because I only had the camera for 10 minutes and tomorrow I'm having my wisdom teeth pulled? Also, PAthtek4, please respod to my PM I sent yesterday.

Don't worry, my aim was to set something attainable therefore I'll be rather lenient, it counts ;) Well done !

No, no, no, thank YOU for getting me to land that, and I have them pretty consistantly non halfcab too, I can land halfkick, half backfoot heel like 3/10, doesn't sound like much, but they're getting there. And I'm trying kickflip backfoot heelflips (Full) but I'm too impatient, I usually end up almost fliping half kickflip backfoot one and a half heelflip, so I'm trying those.
atrain 07-03-2007, 10:43 AM ^ full kickflip late backfoot heels are hard, but so awesome. when i learned them i just focused on doing a double kickflip, but interrupting halfway with a hard back heel. i've only stuck 2, slipped out on alot more

I'm too impatient, I go for the heelflip too soon, I'm getting clser to half kickflip late backfoot one and a half heelflips, haha, that'd be cool too, but not quite as cool. OR maybe cooler?
Varial_222 07-03-2007, 10:45 AM I make it 4 hours 14 minutes left to match, then my set :D
