Start the move rolling forward with a good amount of speed. ben right down as if going for a big ollie. make sure the ball of your rear foot is on the toe side of the tail. this is important

A couple more important things, First, (you can see that in the pictures)addition to snapping the tail down, the rear foot also smacks the tail sideways (scooping the tail with your back foot). This is what causes the board to turn a 180 in the air. Second, your front foot -- get it out of the way by lifting it up. If you want to do these high, this is important. if you want ot so small ones dont lift your front foot quite as high. watching the board, and his feet are positioned to come back down and make contact

land over the trucks when landing, which means it is solid and will not break the board.

Are you doing pop shuvits or just normal shuvits??
If your doing a pop shuvit, just remember to pop before you spin the board, if your doing a normal shuv-it, then try to push the board with your front foot aswell as your back foot (just so you get the full rotation), also remember to jump as you spin the board so your ready for the landing ;)

pop shove its are the best! lots of pop man! a great tip to get them to look good is to jump higher and pop a little bit less. that way you can spot your landing and smack it down on them bolts!

Good guide man...but with the back foots positioning you should have the ball of your foot in the MIDDLE of the tail.So that it keeps the board leveled out and it doesn't flip.

hey can you help me? I can sometimes land pop shuvs stationary but my feet are always right next to each other which causes the board to slip out from under me. Any tips?

I used to hav the same problem my only advice is to keep your eyes on the board and keep reminding yourself to open out your legs so that they are over the bolts if you keep remining yourself eventually it will become second nature

You forgot the problem that all the skaters I know have had:

You have to jump towards your chest a bit, or the boar flies out. Like towards your chest, when your shoulders are parallel with the board.

You should add it.

It is not possible to jump towards your chest. It is attached to you.

the trick to popshuvits for me was starting small. at first, i just smacked the tail as hard as possible, but this makes it hard to catch when ur learning. experiment until you find the sweet spot that pops it a perfect 180 (not too little or too much).

just practice small pops, like barely higher than shuvits. once ur comfortable landing them moving then its just a matter of taking it higher. landing them moving try not to rotate your body above the board, catching them in the air (rather than stomping on them) gives you more time to adjust.

other than that, the hardest part is figuring out the perfect combination of "shove" and timing the land. experiment with back foot placement and power. it takes a lot of trial-and-error, but once u learn em, you never forget them, because they become so fundamental to other tricks.

frontside shuvs are a lot harder because you can hardly see what's going on, so it's mostly by feel. just make sure to keep your weight on your back foot for the whole trick (the front foot does nothing until the catch). find a sweet spot on the tail that gives you the 180 f/s pop and jump backwards with it.
