View Full Version : How often do you ''shave''?
Pathtek4 10-26-2007, 01:48 PM I'm at a point, where if I don't ''touch-up'' my face every 3 days, by day 5 its nearly filled in! Quite annoying really, because I get up too early in the morning to shave in the shower, and i'm not one of those people that prefer to shower before bed. Plus, I only shave in the shower with a mirror from my old chevy celebrity...Anybody else have it worse then me?
On a recommendation note, use the Gillette Fusion with the Gillette Fusion Hydrogel...it makes it quick and painless!!
Every day. I'm not down for the stubble look.
aronsamma 10-26-2007, 02:05 PM at least once, or maybe twice if i'm going out in the evening.
trm4583 10-26-2007, 04:09 PM I'm a bearded gentleman. I trim it up about every 2 weeks unless I fell like doing the mountain man look, then it could be a couple months. Although I do trim my stache every couple days, I don't like eating whiskers.
Every 2 or 3 days now since I cut my beard. I miss the days when I'd wake up and just NOT have to go and shave :(
Kowycz 10-26-2007, 05:24 PM I have a beard but still have to shave around it about every 3-4 days. (I don't mind the stubble)
Admonition 10-26-2007, 09:03 PM I've had a beard for a good while, but recent rule changes at work forced me to go clean shaven -.- So now I shave pretty much daily.
Haha, I didn't realise there was a poll too :p
Dog Town 10-26-2007, 11:48 PM Daily. We have a boss that does not allow any face hair except a mustache...he retires in a year or so and I can't wait.
I had a beard till I was 22 (when I started working at my current job) but I can grow some serious hair in a day or two.
This is about 2 days worth...lol

FightFlyCrow 10-28-2007, 12:06 PM I have my winter beard now, so never(and never really trim it). But in the summer I would shave about once a week. I dont really like the stubbly look, but I dislike shaving more.
GiantApe67 10-28-2007, 08:34 PM Once a day, twice I have a client appointment at night or something. I had a beard from '98 - '00, but I looked like a guy trying too hard to look older.
chewy 10-29-2007, 04:39 AM I'm still trying to get away with once a week like back in high school, but it's not working so well anymore. So slowly I'm trying to get in the habit of at least every other day because it hurts like hell shaving it when it's long.
denacem 10-29-2007, 06:57 AM i shave about 3 times a week, if i wait longer i get "rashy". and it looks better to be completely shaved anyways.
Daddy-O 10-29-2007, 09:27 AM I've had a goatee for about 10 years but I still have to shave the surrounding areas daily or I feel nasty. I hate shaving but I also hate being stubbly. Plus, I gots to be smooth for the lady.
I'm just about ready to get rid of the stache though cuz it adds about 10 years to my face (according to my kids). I'll keep the chin beard though and maybe braid in some beads a la Jack Sparrow. :icon_cool
LemiPie 10-30-2007, 03:54 AM I shave my legs every 3 or 4 days in the spring/summer, but in the winter...mwahahahahaha maybe like once a month or until I can hardly stand it...mwahahahahahahaha!
jesushadherpes 10-30-2007, 08:40 AM i can get an almost full beard rocking in like 3 days, so i have to shave every other day but i mean i can easily pass as 21 wheni dont shave in a few days so its useful because most people think im in my 20's.
Beuford23 10-31-2007, 02:51 PM Mine's a real bugger to deal with. I have sensitive skin to start. My full-on Grizzly Adams beard only takes a matter of days to exude its' glory. Problem is, with sensitive skin it gets itchy fast. So I shave (Fusion). Problem is, with sensivtive skin the razor irritates my skin. I'm dammed if I do and dammed if I don't.
For me it's a delicate balance between true 24-36 hours shaving time. Any later than that and I'm in trouble. Any sooner/more repetitive and I'm in trouble.
But, on a good note. The wife digs that i don't get a Cantinflas looking bigote!
lemons7 10-31-2007, 03:56 PM Dang. I'm impressed that you guys can get a full beard going in 3 days. My family is like... 1/20 hispanic, I don't get ANYTHING from it. EXCEPT FACIAL HAIR. I have the full blown generic mexi-stache. So facial hair looks terrible. At least on me. But it grows very slow and more straight. So I can shave like, once a week and still look mostly clean.
Lemons, you need to be our cafe version of Danny Trejo. PPLLLLEEEEEAAAASSSEEEEE!
BuckWyld 11-01-2007, 03:19 PM If I shave in the morning I have the 5 o'clock shadow going by about 3, that being said I usually shave once or twice a week because I am a lazy bastard.
I shave once every two or three days, stubble looks like crap on my face and I have a very sensitive, acne prone skin I like to keep clean.
Every 15 minutes because I'm that manly
oldguy 11-05-2007, 09:37 PM Only when I remember to. Sometimes 2 days sometimes 2 weeks.
slothdog 11-05-2007, 11:11 PM i dont really care what it looks like, i just shave it when it starts to get annoying or i get bored.
remyhero 11-06-2007, 02:51 PM everyday I work, if I dont have to work I dont shave and I look like a mountain man
01rmck 11-06-2007, 05:41 PM i tried shaving with my non-electric shaver today. jeez, it's well bad! It grates against your skin:S horrible. i'm sticking to my electric from now on.
i think i've already answered the question before but just incase i havn't i usually shave about once every 2/3 days. i don't mind having stuble, it gives me something to play with lol, but i get comments if i leave it longer than a week
invalid 11-07-2007, 10:18 AM Once to twice a week, which is no more than I have to, because my boss is a ****head. I want to rock a beard so bad :(
Mookie 11-07-2007, 02:06 PM every 6 months maybe it doesnt grow hardly at all only mustache and chin
stacyk 11-10-2007, 05:50 AM I shave once every two or three days, stubble looks like crap on my face and I have a very sensitive, acne prone skin I like to keep clean.
i feel ya pain MRCK, i'm much the same with acne proned skin
i grow a red beard (if i let it grow) and it's quite wirey even though i've got soft brown hair on my head, so it looks strange also.
only in the last 12 months i've had to shave everyday though
it didn't grow very quickly before that, but if i let it go more than a day now, the razor won't get through it and just clogs with the thick wirey red fibres my chin produces
i do hate shaving but if i remember to do it every day my electric razor is good
but won't do a thing on day two, it's just to long
Random As 11-12-2007, 02:21 PM Depends on who I have to meet with on the day, Sponsors = Shaved Skaters + No shave.
8 hours after need to shave again, 5 days beard.
lol
DomitianX 11-14-2007, 08:33 AM I shave when I start pulling out hair when I wipe. If I snag a hair after a good crap, I know its time to shave. My wife loves to help out.
Haha.
I usually shave every 5 days or so, but I should really do it every 3 now. I've become lazy and its starting to grow back faster. I only use an electric razor because like MRCK and stacyk I have really sensitive, oily, and acne prone skin. Ever time I use a straight razor I break out, so I avoid it.
choker 11-17-2007, 10:07 PM its rare that i do, cause its rare that i get hair thats noticeable, and i do it then cause the more you cut it the faster it grows back
Tyler Self 12-24-2007, 04:27 PM It got to the point that, when I was shaving in the morning before a Wrestling match, I was having to go shave again before my match (at about 7:00 PM) because my hair was back. By day 3 I can have it full, which is usually what I do. During the summer and Wrestling off-season I let it go. It grows quick but once it hits a certain length it appears to either slow down a lot or stop. I favor the "i'm-too-lazy-to-shave" look. :)
Goblin_Skater 12-24-2007, 04:48 PM My face looks funny if I shave (I seriously look like a little kid or something lol) so I just set the electric to a 1 setting and shave the whole thing or do it without the plastic piece around everywhere else except my goatee area. I would then just trim that to about a 1 setting as well. All in all I take care of my facial hair situation about once per week. Lately I have been letting it grow though to help combat the winter winds ;)
Flipperz 12-24-2007, 06:09 PM I just thin out my goatee and side burns, but keep 'em enough that you can smell what I ate/smoked a few hours before. lol, if that tells you enough.
Ibanez 12-24-2007, 07:55 PM Some reason Im 21 and Ive only shaved once in my life, my grandmother told me that I started growing a mustache when I was about 12. I got stubble on my chin when I was about 17 and since then I still have little. My chin hair just seems to get longer but come on like 4 to 6 years between shaving I should have full, long goat going right now.
I shaved just to test it out, sometimes I wish I was half Native American, they didn't have facial hair and seems like Im doomed to have little.
SidVan 12-27-2007, 09:06 AM i only shave once a week, and that's only because my fiancee bugs me to. i got really really rough facial hair so shaving is torture for my skin. thank god no one cares at work.
Reno_Rotary 12-31-2007, 12:19 AM I shave when I start pulling out hair when I wipe. If I snag a hair after a good crap, I know its time to shave. My wife loves to help out.
wow, when I saw "shave" in quotation marks I also thought he was talking about down under, I guess you should have read the thread.
funny none the less.
girlsk8r 12-31-2007, 05:53 PM ^^ I totally thought the same thing. haha :) It really all depends for me. In the winter I shave my legs like every few days cause I wear pants so no one is really looking at my bare legs. But in the summer It's like everyday to keep them smooth. As for other places... just depends and I'll leave it at that. :)
bailsalot 01-04-2008, 02:03 AM i dont really get that much facial hair to begin so not very often for me unless the stubble just starts getting on my nerves or something or my wife starts complaining about it.
Craptaculous 01-07-2008, 08:19 AM As the notion strikes me. My face I let go because I look really fly all scruffy like. I have to keep the old lug-bag smooth though, or else my chick won't go down.
jhelm007 01-07-2008, 09:16 AM Last week I shaved for the first time in about three years (full beard, but usually trimmed up neat so as to not frighten small childrens). Now I have to shave every 2-3 days to remain hairless. Shaving is a drag and a PITA. I'm looking forward to being shaggy again.
zerohalo21 01-23-2008, 10:27 PM i shave like once a month... To lazy to do it more often...
oldrampratt 01-23-2008, 10:31 PM Have to daily, hate to, but when the job requires it what can you do? Is it the weekend yet?
Black Label 01-23-2008, 10:35 PM I was using an electric, and I think it was old and just pulling some hairs out instead of cutting them. I only had to cut it...eh once a week? It grew back in patches and I could never get that full 5 o'clock shadow.
I say this because I went pure razor/shave gel only about a month ago and I have to shave every other day now and it's not patchy like it was. I'm sporting a beastly 10:35 pm shadow right now.
skatetransition 01-24-2008, 12:35 PM I like to keep my goatee, but i shave the sideburns and under my neck once a week, or if im with my girlfriend for the weekend ill shave everyday until I leave. gotta stay fresh.
remyhero 01-27-2008, 07:09 PM I use nair on the other parts.
Higher-Class 01-29-2008, 09:13 PM My facial hair grows really slow, so I get a five o'clock shadow after about 2 days. My shaving habits are kind of like my haircutting habits; let it grow until it starts bothering me, or until I have something important to do. I haven't shaved in about two weeks now, and it's looking pretty beastly. My only problem is that hair doesn't grow in the middle of my mustache, in that little vertical area beneath my nose. What's up with that?
WoodPusher88 01-31-2008, 07:11 PM I shave my legs every 3 or 4 days in the spring/summer, but in the winter...mwahahahahaha maybe like once a month or until I can hardly stand it...mwahahahahahahaha!
hahah you're like my girl friend. she's quite the same.
Anyway, i have to shave everyday. i have a goatee with chin straps, so i gotta shave around that, which is a bit annoying, trying not to mess that up. but if i don't shave everyday i start getting a full beard ahaha.
damn italian blood.
Bakerman 01-31-2008, 07:13 PM I dont shave yet but i should start soon
skaterbob 02-05-2008, 04:48 AM my facial hair grows in all patchy. so its really horrible looking when i dont shave. but probably like once a month .
Skateyasha 02-28-2008, 02:01 AM I've been growing out the beard lately, but I have to shave the stache every day, or it turns into a dirty sanchez... beard I would normally have to shave every other day.
Chaseypoos 02-29-2008, 03:01 PM Every 3rd day...
4W4K3 02-29-2008, 03:36 PM I try to shave every 5-6 days. I let it grow out on my cheeks/neck, and get a little hair on my lip. By then my GF is complaining and I shave haha. I could probably shave every other day if I wanted to stay clean, but I don't mind a little roughness.
SkateBoard_Dee 03-06-2008, 10:33 AM Never all i have is a lot of chin hair no mustache or anything but i do got a little hair above my lip i might shave it
OlSchoolGuy1982 03-09-2008, 10:45 PM every other day, gotta stay clean for work..
ThrivingInk 03-14-2008, 12:20 PM i love my stubble. dont think i have used a razor in like 6 months. I just trim it to a second day shaven look...
What kind of aftershave do you guys use?
Higher-Class 03-14-2008, 08:28 PM What kind of aftershave do you guys use?
Gillette... I think I spelled that wrong.
I'm psyched to be able to say that I have a beard now. It's not a full beard, though; I keep it shaved into an Abe Lincoln thing. I'm hyped lol
oldrampratt 03-15-2008, 08:19 AM WELL, I'm on Vacation for the next 9 days. Going to see how long I can go til my lovely bride tells me to shave...I going to guess before Monday she'll ask me to get rid of the scruff...
Stevie Hunt 06-20-2008, 01:17 PM lol nealry every day, dosent stop growing.
When i was with my ex she forced me to shave my chesty hairs off, being stupid i listend to her, now i ether have to put up with a stubly chest or a completly bear one lol it sucks
The Beard 06-20-2008, 01:29 PM i tend not to shave for a good few months and just let my beard grow until one day i think to myself" holy ****, i could hide my junk in this thing.. better give it a trimmy trim trim trim."
Just shaved off my beard on Sunday. Back to shaving eevryday now.
Every 3 days... sometimes longer if I can get away with it at work
McCrank 06-26-2008, 11:45 PM I barely have any facial hair growth. So every 3-4 days is good.
mc studda 06-26-2008, 11:49 PM im on the twice a week plan.
Geissler 07-23-2008, 06:52 PM Trimming the stray hairs, like.. once a week, hah. My did didn't get full on thick facial hair till his late 20s, so I'm not holding my breath!
Planb2276 07-25-2008, 11:44 PM edit: Sorry I posted this on accident, didnt notice it in old folks chat
Irish23 07-29-2008, 01:56 AM once a week maybe haha
Johnny Darko 07-31-2008, 06:44 PM never shaved, for the reason that if i start, ill never stop. although ive got rid of the sideburns many times.
been told i should start my many different people many different times. **** 'em, i prefer not fitting into the mainstream.
lazerusRy 08-21-2008, 01:08 AM Trim the beard 3-5 days, and shave rest everyday
