Isreal beating Russia came as a bit of a shock, so this Wednesday all England have to do is draw to Qualify for the Euro, if they dont then it will be the first time in 10 years they havent =(

With so many players injuired.. who would you select to play that game ? and how can you see things planing out?

Im my view.. Steve Mclaren MUST play Beckham.. his the best in the world at long passes, not to mention freekicks. Also he just has to play James in goal.. hands down the best goal keeper in England, Robinsons had his time.

What you recon?

No David James, i prefer Robinson or even Scott Carson who plays for the U21's is quite good.

As you said he needs to play Beckham, which he probably will.

I think England will actually win. It will be a low scoring game but i think we will win.

Stevie Hunt

yeah, i cant see England winning 5-0 or anything but i can see a 2-0 victory =)

Ive got to stick with David James though, the last premiership he had the recored for savin the most goals, Robinson makes to many mistakes for my liking, he just cant seem to catch.

Robinson has an issue with saving anything from 18 yards or more! He makes these hollywood saves aswell when all he has to do is catch it. He annoys me.

england played pretty awful tonight until defoe and beckham came on, they seemed to liven it up a bit. crouchs goal was amazing. the pitch was awful aswell, after all that money spent into it. ah well world cup 2010 i guess.

Look on the bright side, you won't get humiliated by Portugal on the penalty shootouts again :D

Now seriously, England is a big loss. The European Cup, besides being a sports event, is a cultural one a swell. Austria and Switzerland's economy could grow much more if England got qualified, because of all the fans that follow the team everywhere.

The state of the pitch was because of a American footbaall game that was played on it.

What on earth was are keeper up to though.. Beckham and Crouch played amzing though.

Also.. anounced today, Mcclaren has now been sacked..

Its not the NFL's fault though, I thought they could shut the roof, but I guess they thought it was better to let it get poured on. Plus the turf they bought is for warmer climates with little rainfall, good work there by the FA.

haha yeah =) guess the bright side is were gettin a new England manager. Ild love to see Merineo (cant spell) take the position.

I know Harry Rednapp is intrested but i just hope he dosent take the job.. His the manager of Pompey and i dont want to see Pompey go all crap if he leaves.

wasnt the old real madrid manager interested?

yes, i remember reeding something about this, if im not mistaken he was also the manager of Itaily when they won the world cup. The only problem is offcourse is that he can hardly speek any English.

Also, just watchin the news.. The World Cup qualifier groups.. England have the easyest group to qualifie in.. also in this group is Croatia =)

yeah capello is now the manager.

Scott carson was awful in my opinion. AH it's really annoying because we really should have a better chance in this than the world cup.

Stevie Hunt
12-17-2007, 11:04 AM
^^ well if we have a fit team (no one like Rooney injuried) and we play the formation of 4-4-2 we stand a massive chance in my view. If i had my way ild set it out like this

David James, Cambal, Ferdinand, Terry, A cole, Beckham, Gerrard , Barry, J Cole, Rooney, Owen.

Subs: - Wright philips
- Robinson =(
- Hargrieves
- Heskey
- P nevile
- M Richards
(atleast)

Easy win..

Stevie Hunt
12-17-2007, 02:14 PM

I feel Gerrard has to play mid field.. and have you seen when Lampard plays there with him? its absoultly shocking!
Were as Gerrard and Barry really work and time there runs foward well.

I have to agree with you, I think it's a real shame though because Lampard and Gerrard are both great players but they can't play together.

Hooray for Chelsea beating Liverpool in the quarter final of the Carling Cup.

If you haven't guessed yet i'm a Chelsea fan.

We just have to beat Everton is the semi final which we should do and then probably face Arsenal in the final unless Tottenham can cause an upset.

^^ intresting to see a 0-0 game, cant beleive Ronaldo missed that penalty lol, ive never seen him miss, closest ive seen is the keeper gets a hand to it but goes in anyways. ManU played a brilliant defencive game though

Anyway, the best is yet to come when Pompey take the FA cup in May =)

Stevie Hunt
05-19-2008, 12:33 PM

you watchin the champions leagues final in a couple of days then? what do you recon the score will be?

HerbY
05-19-2008, 02:57 PM
Yeah you bet I'll be watching it :D

I really want Man Utd to win, being a man u fan et all, but I have a horrible feeling that Chelski are going to rob us of it. I had the same feeling in '99 but I don't think we will pull it off a second time.

So my heart says 2-1 United, my brain says 2-1 Chelski - what about you?

Varial_222
05-19-2008, 03:28 PM
It will be a tough one, being a chelsea fan i would want chelsea to win obviously and i think we will just manage it, 1-0 or 2-0 to us. But i have a feeling that man utd could get on the score sheet if they play Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo which is more than likely. Come on Ronaldo, injure yourself! Or we'll put on our crappiest player *cough Ashley Cole cough* and use him as a sacrifice to crop Ronaldo! :D

HerbY
05-19-2008, 03:45 PM
Haha Cashly Cole :)

Is Drogba and Terry fit for the game? I reckon if they arn't we stand a much better chance...

Stevie Hunt
05-19-2008, 07:34 PM
im going with ManU for the win, Im a Pompey fan but i really like ManU and watching them play, think ManU will be getting the Double this year =)

i can picture a 30 yard wonder free kick by Ronaldo in the 90th minite =)

who ever wins though it will be one hell of a game. And yeha i remember back in '99 ManU winning the Triple! I felt soo bad for Schouls though not being able to play in the champions league final back then lol, least his deffinitly playing in this one ahy.

HerbY
05-20-2008, 09:07 AM
Ah i remember the treble like it was yesterday, especially the last 3 minutes of the well known final ;) . I was crying as it was entering stoppage time (I was 9, i know I'm a sissy) but my dad kept saying "It's okay, united will win" - sure enough 3 minutes later we were the champions of Europe :)

I hope to God it doesn't go that dramatic again, might have a heart attack!

Also yeah I'm glad scholes gets to play, hes been so crucial the last 10-15 years the title should be ours just out of honor for scholes. I bet keanes kicking himself for retiring early now though. lol

Stevie Hunt
05-20-2008, 07:50 PM
^^ lol yeah man, also dosent Giggs pass bobby charltons appearence record of like 748 or something like that tomuro?

unfortunitly i cant remember the games in 99, my memory is soo poor but i remember watching it with my mum who was and still is a ManU fan lol and her really happy that they won.

Ive got a bet on with my teacher at collage that if ManU win then i get a garentied distinction on my final major project BUT if Chelsea win then i have to eat a painting lol

HerbY
05-21-2008, 05:16 PM
CHAAAAAAAAMPIONSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS 2008 :D

What a game. I have to say we were the second best team in the second half but I reckon we deserve it on the whole. Drogba won it for us I think. If he didn't get sent of he probably would of taken the 5th pen. Van Der Sar - LEGEND! :D

I'm so happy right now I don't know what to do with myself...PARTY! :)

Stevie Hunt

i thourt England played well in that game, there certainly improving there passing and possetion.

i had a footy game last night.. i came away with a groin stretch and a sprained wrist lol i got well mashed into lol

oooo i read on in the paper on the way to collage that C.Ronaldo actualy would like to go to Madrid if they pay ManU the right money, recon he will go ?

HerbY
06-09-2008, 04:09 PM
I think Ronaldo really blew it. He had all the United fans backing him and if he had just came out and said "I want to go" then well, I'd be fine with it. But instead he has played with the press and the fans and basicly betrayed our loyalty to him.

In a way you could compare him to Beckham. After the world cup 98 he was hated, we stuck by him, he had a blinding season and for at least 5 years until fame got to his head it was great. Ronaldo gets the country on his back for his participation of getting Rooney sent off, we stick by him, he has a couple of blinding seasons, he decides he is bigger then the club and "sorta wants to go but only if they pay him 300,000".

I won't be too sad to see him go. I'd reckon we would get 40 mil at least for him, which could buy a decent replacement and possibly much more. We are Euro Champs, there are a lot of players who would like to join us.

I wish we could find another "Giggs". Loyal, trustworthy, highly skilled and great with the media...

Stevie Hunt
06-10-2008, 03:34 PM
^^ good post

Its 80 million ManU are asking for, Madrid put in a offer of 79 mil and it got turned down. Aparintly ManU have reported Madrid to the FA for continues hassel about it now, no more talk till after the Euro has finished.

Ild like to see him stay, think ManU is his home, though next season i cant see him doing as good as he did last season because alot of teams will be marking him twice as much and if they dont then they bloody should be lol

then dont post in a football thread.

Tom
06-19-2008, 11:58 AM
While Ronaldo is a very talented player, he's also one of the biggest whining pre-madonnas out there. He expects to play football like he did in his little princess league when he was a little kid. There will be contact in this sport, and it happens that you might get more than a scrape or a bump unintentionaly from another player plying the ball. Be a man and suck it up, don't make every contact more than what it was. I can't stand watching him play and ALWAYS be on the floor whining about a little tap or push he got.

Stevie Hunt
06-19-2008, 01:05 PM
^^ yeah man thats some what true, but the thing is Ronaldo has such a great fast pace that if a player dose bump into him, even if its slightly then he will fall over, sometimes he dose go abit over the top lol and also when he dose actulally get fouled the ref says play on because its hard to tell anymore with Ronaldo lol

this reminds me, Portigual vs Germany in half hour =)

Tom
06-19-2008, 01:24 PM
And that's the problem with football now. With all these fakers and cry babies, it's next to impossible to tell a lot of the times. They need to implement some harsher rules on these things, such as game suspensions. And I realize Ronaldo's a speed train, and when he gets a little shove at that speed, he's gonna go tumbling. But don't play it into a massive injury or something where it's not. THAT's what I have a problem with.

And I can't wait for the game, I hope Germany makes Ronaldo cry :p

So, now the European Cup is over, what is everyones opinion of the championship?

I thought it was the best championship I've watched, specially when the Dutch were destroying. Also was quite happy to see France dumped out.

Spain were worthy winners as well. Now it's just England and Holland who are the underachievers...

Sonix
06-30-2008, 06:25 AM
Yea it was quite entertaining cup. Well thankfully Spain won it (I dislike German football team). I was quite dissapointed when Dutch lost to Russia though, since I was for them. Not to mention Russia vs Spain, where Russians played really lame, I mean where was the motivation and everything from last game, it was like 11 Spanish players vs 5 Russian.
On the other side, it was always fun to watch Turks, since they always made a come-back. Too bad it didn't work with Germany.
