View Full Version : 360 flip guide
misled user 06-24-2005, 05:55 AM this trick is quite a difficult one to master so dont get worried if you dont get it first go, also having the kickflip, pop shuvit and varial will help you master this trick.
360 flip guide:
1) Go at a pretty fast speed. Not too fast... But not too slow.
2) Put your front foot before the middle of the board and have it on a 45 degree angle. Your back foot has to be setup so the very edge of the ball of your foot is on the tail. Like a shove-it.
3) Sweep your back foot in the opposite direction you are facing, give it an aggresive scoop to start off with just until you get the feel for the motion.
4) At the same time let your front foot flick straight off the corner of your board where the concave starts. If your goofy it will be the right side, regular would be the left side.
5) After doing this let your board rotate under you until you see the board folding up to your feet.
6) Catch the board and land solid avoiding wheel bite.
still having trouble check the vid out-> 360 flip vid (http://www.ramprage.com/videos/skateboard/tricks/360kf.wmv)
eLeMeNtSkAtEr 06-24-2005, 05:58 AM Good tip. And is that you in the video? Because who ever it was, that was a REALLY clean tre flip. And if you can only get the board to 270 try popping the board up a lil bit more.
ZERO_sKaTeR 06-24-2005, 06:22 AM no that wasent him, that was rodney mullen
prskimmer 06-24-2005, 01:25 PM i can only land them with one foot
mzikeytnatum 07-01-2005, 11:48 PM dude i landed my first one on carpet it also helps to jump to the side
MegaManXZ00 07-02-2005, 01:21 PM Thanks! I'm gonna try 360 flips again now.

tehmikezero 07-02-2005, 11:07 PM yeah dude.. im trying to land it now and crap
Etnieskater 08-08-2005, 05:22 PM very nice :icon_head
Ratdart 08-09-2005, 07:42 PM Definently NOT rodney mullen
rockadio 08-14-2005, 11:29 PM yeah mullen has more of a tech looking style and watch his hands, mullen always does this weird thing with his hands when he lands his tricks, but who cares, hes awesome
Travy 08-15-2005, 12:01 AM i've landed one before and every now and then i can getthe rotation but this really helped thx
i'm pretty sure that was eric kosten in that vid and i went out and i got two after ten minutes but then i got really sloppy and i am now splat at them
stupidface 08-15-2005, 01:54 AM nice. i almost had one 2day. i was soooo close. my friend was like you almost have the tre flip and i was like ya watch. and i like landed it but i kinda slipped off.
Ratdart 08-17-2005, 02:49 PM I want to three sixty flip SO bad.
Execute 09-05-2005, 02:13 PM Tre flips suck, i always land them upside down.
Stevie Hunt 09-16-2005, 11:36 AM is it possible to land this trick stationry, it seems these not anoth momentum standing still.
steamboat21 09-16-2005, 03:05 PM I've been trying them sationary but it was not working out.. So I tryed moving and its a lot easier
steamboat21 09-16-2005, 05:30 PM But I still can do it so im not sure... can any one help me
steamboat21 09-17-2005, 06:28 PM And why every trick tip I read about the 360 flip says to be going pretty fast. What does that do?
ZERO_sKaTeR 09-17-2005, 07:30 PM that was rodney mullen
volcomlover 09-21-2005, 08:53 PM yea i always try my new tricks on carpet first that way it doesnt hurt as bad at first.
eLeMeNtSkAtEr 09-21-2005, 09:46 PM is it possible to land this trick stationry, it seems these not anoth momentum standing still.
Very possible. That's what I do....Learn my tricks stationary, and gradually pick up speed.
I landed like....15 Tre's today(trying to show off in front of Cameron Goodwin)
noooo...don't jump to the side. that's not cool. i had to fix mine cause i was doing that. scoop it, concentrate on keeping it under you, and JUMP. I had problems learning to jump when i popped it. also, the front foot hardly does anything in this trick, its mostly back foor work.
i love this trick. by far my favorite trick.
steamboat21 10-01-2005, 04:08 PM I have recently got serious about 360 flip....ut i can't dothem i can only get a 180 i think my front foot stops it
What am i doing i really wanna learn them
ethio_simon 10-01-2005, 05:02 PM i have a question about how to spin the board. for those of you who can actually land it: do you guys focus spinning the board back behind you with you back foot, or more of a pushing it forward kind of motion. ok, i don't think that last sentence made any sense. let me try again. do you guys push your back foot straight back to spin the board or push back and a little forward (forward as in the direciton you're going towards the nose). and do you guys help spin the with your front foot? or just use it for flipping?
long jetty 10-07-2005, 07:12 PM If I can land 360 shuvs easy, and varial kickflips easy, will I get tre flip easily?
long jetty 10-30-2005, 06:37 AM Damn I keep landing on the nose, I watched myself in slo-mo and everything is perfect except the board doesn't go forward enough, it almost seems as if it goes backwards.
"element" 11-19-2005, 04:29 PM thanks
marker 12-10-2005, 02:42 AM im close to 360 flips more than ever now.
my friend steve told me by what 'scooping' meant and ever since he told me what it meant and even showed how to position your feet im so close!
just need to land it right.
Shangri La 02-04-2006, 11:14 AM That was Rodney Mullen? The dude looked hispanic.
Newbed 03-09-2006, 07:14 PM my favorite trick... even if i cant land them, I want to learn them bad
sk8er_4_life58 03-10-2006, 10:24 PM good tips i used them and it helped me to land it
feedmegrease 05-20-2006, 03:52 PM May I also add that if you have a weak flip put your front foot lower on the board.
RustyNail 05-20-2006, 06:44 PM Here's my first tre I did a while back, havent taped one since.
http://media.putfile.com/RustyNail-popping-a-tre-flip
I've got them higher now. I'd say this trick is not really in the upper body. Actually, I try to relax with my upper body and just scoop my back foot hard and flick it out.
f0rs@k3n21 06-04-2006, 08:34 PM i have a question can u be too weak to spin 360s??? cuz everytime i try i have to really wind up and i cant even get it
Super Mario 06-11-2006, 02:40 PM Well,i land clean Pop-shuvits and my kickflips arent that good, but im still goin' for the tre-flips.even though my kickflips arent that good
adam holmes 06-29-2006, 03:51 AM I Landed My First Tre About A Weak Ago
zerogravity724 09-19-2006, 04:42 PM well ive been able to land sketchy tres about 1/12 trys but my friend is telling me it sucks bc my i cant catch my tre flips high and i never roll away bc the rotation isnt a full 360.. but when i do the full 360 spin it usually goes behind me or doesnt flip all the way.... any tips on catching them and rolling away
joshhhh 09-19-2006, 04:47 PM i still need a little help on the tres. i cant spin it all the way and when it does it doenst flip a kickflip. :[ when i try to spin it all they way it does a varial type thing
Habitatsk8r7 09-19-2006, 04:51 PM Damn I keep landing on the nose, I watched myself in slo-mo and everything is perfect except the board doesn't go forward enough, it almost seems as if it goes backwards.
exactly that's what happens to me. its so freaking annoying, i still land em though
THEramones344 09-19-2006, 06:45 PM yeaa thx i was tryn to learn those and hopfully this should help

flipper88 10-11-2006, 06:10 PM i know how to do them but i just cant scoop the board 360 with a kickflip at the same time/.. i can do 360 shuvit and varials though any help????
RollerNation 10-28-2006, 12:04 AM By friends wicked awsome at thies... there so fun to watch
jaydub 01-15-2007, 12:58 AM I know I can land these..it's just my flick. No matter where I put my front foot, I always get a half flip and I land it upside down. I get a fast scoop, it does the full 360 and comes around, and when it's time to land it's only half flipped. Any suggestions? And don't tell me to put my feet together on the tail. lol
Shorty's_Kid 02-02-2007, 11:03 AM ^Mine used to do that too. Just focus on the flip a little more, and flick a little harder.
pbsk8er15 02-03-2007, 09:47 AM nice 360 flip help
newerax 05-13-2007, 05:03 PM reheeheh
jaydub 06-03-2007, 03:43 PM ^Mine used to do that too. Just focus on the flip a little more, and flick a little harder.
i don't really feel a flick..
zero-or-die-777 06-21-2007, 02:39 PM that's how i do them
skatermccrank 06-24-2007, 01:32 AM truthfully...this is the exact way i do it..insane huh?
it gives you easier rotation. i myself find fakie bigspin flips much easier, and they look kinda cool, cuz most kids do tre's instead, so they're like, SWEET! i always land tre's upside down :(
oh well, practice, practice, practice :)
Derrick14 08-01-2007, 07:03 PM nice tip
basementskater 08-19-2007, 10:51 PM thanks for the tip bro i was always going too slow it makes it harder to get you front foot in the right spot:icon_peac
1337m45t3rch13f 11-26-2007, 10:12 PM the tip was really helpful. i landed a few in my basement after hours and hours. thanks!
crazyskter 12-01-2007, 12:14 AM so i can do these but how do i catch them higher? do i need to pop more? go faster? or what. thanks in adavance
peanut07 01-04-2008, 11:42 AM if that video or the written tips (which were good) didnt help you...the stefan janoski vid on youtube really helps also
fallen619 01-05-2008, 12:53 AM thanks man this helped me alot, now i have them down
Jokar 01-06-2008, 08:29 PM nice tip dude .. and thanx
sephy44 01-11-2008, 04:01 AM good tip
skatelife22 01-23-2008, 10:06 PM when ever i do a tre flip my front foot always lands on the nose and my back foot in the middle somewhat close to the front. how can i prevent this?
easy rider 02-21-2008, 06:18 AM yer 360 flips are pretty hard but once you get them they feel awesome
lsara3699 04-06-2008, 02:13 PM I love these tricks, sometimes flipping it a bit more helps it stay under you too.
Should I be able to do it if I can varial and 360 shove it?
bustedbearings 05-31-2008, 06:54 PM This Helped Me Get Tre's WAY more than this thread did... (http://youtube.com/watch?v=WGhxNIzGrqg)
i just learned varials and now i'm so used to the rotation of varials, i can't get the full rotation for 360 flips...
I amThe1 inUr80 06-08-2008, 07:40 PM ^thats probably cus ur trying to do it just like a varial but scooping harder, let me tlel you, you really dont need to scoop very hard. watch the video the guy posted up there^, that helped me alot.
okay watched a bunch of videos on tre's...
the most helpful tips for me were:
-bend low, and make sure u get a lot of height
-tuck in ur back leg (the person who said this said it gave more pressure to the scoop, it's been working for me)
-and wind up ur body, this really helps if your not getting the full rotation of the spin
sfskater 09-14-2008, 12:15 AM nice vid. i can land mine in a manual for like 2 seconds
Etaks 09-28-2008, 07:43 PM i've been working hard on them lately and i was wondering if you guys had any tips for getting your back foot on because most of the time i get a really nice flip and land with only my front foot, so any tips?
fallenNJzero 09-28-2008, 08:42 PM very simple tip still senseful though. but i land one foot on the nose and one on the bolts? so how can i solve that? i can land fakie tres near bolts somewhat consistently
KennethSkates 09-28-2008, 08:57 PM i already have tre's on lock.
but this is a really good trip.
+rep
grandhustle 10-11-2008, 03:04 AM anyone have any tips on how to keep your board close to you? like not having it spin away...
FeDeX 10-31-2008, 07:22 PM i need some help with 360 flips. i would like a video with tips!! thanks (Y)
EricsASkater 11-29-2008, 04:39 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyvyMA-Bem4&feature=channel
Sorry about the ****ty quality. Not sure what's wrong.. -.-
Tres are like impossible for me. Can anyone help me?
Bless The Fall 11-29-2008, 05:18 PM thnks dude this is really gunna help me out
fallenskater001 11-29-2008, 06:46 PM wow thanks a lot
i might be able to actually land these now
hippo472 11-30-2008, 11:54 AM thank you im going to start trying them!
DJ Hankey 12-04-2008, 08:17 PM Thanks man, I really needed to know where to put me front foot at. Like I have noticed that if I put my front foot closer to the bolts then its going to flip slower and I would have more control doing it. When I put my front foot lower down then it spins quicker, but less control.
I hope by the end of the year I can get these better pat down.
