This is the guide for Mini DV cameras which are mini tapes.

What You Need

1. A Video Camera
2. A Firewire
3. A Firewire Docking Port

The Steps

1. Hook up you firewire cable to your camera. One end should go into your computer the other end should go into your camera. *TURN YOUR CAMERA ON AND KEEP IT ON UNTIL YOU ARE FINISHED UPLOADING*

In this case mine is a Canon ZR 800

2. Once the window pops up with the options click on "Record Video Using Windows Movie Maker".

3. Once Windows Movie Maker is up click on Capture From Video Device. ON THIS STEP PUT YOUR CAMERA ON "PLAY"

4.There should be 4 steps. The first 3 are basic steps that I do not need to explain. Down below is what the 4th step should look like.

You will be able to watch your video while it is uploading. you can stop it at any time.

once you stop it you will be able to save and edit your video.

You are now finished!

*If you have any quiestions please PM me, I will be happy to help!*

Mods, i think this needs to be in the technique section. if it is can you move it for me?

Thanks

When I do that without the firewire, it comes out but bad quality, so is not having the firewire stuff doing this?

Very nice guide indeed. I'm actually going to sticky this so that any technically challenged people can find it first thing.

Hold on...
