Old school, street, flatground, freestyle, vert, tech...or maybe just a skater that enjoys every style.

I would say my style is:

-Old-school
-MILD street
-Tech
-Vert (mostly mini)
-Flatground
-I just started freestyle

Basically I'm [almost] all of them...

Which are you?

Last time I checked, style is defined as what you look like and how you ride when you are ON your skateboard. This should be titled, what obstacles do you skate. Style has nothing to do with what you skate or what type of clothes you wear (that's directed at the guy who said biebel and dyrdek have a ghetto style).

And one more thing, to the guy who started this thread, a mini ramp is not vert. The word vert comes from the word VERTICAL. You are not skating vert unless your obstacle is vertical.

Well I can't change the title anymore now, so oh well...

And my mini ramp has a little vert on it.

i do tech stuff,
come up with wierd little combos or find new things to skate.
like boulders, wallride up them and stall, kickflip and come back down.
or find some rad grass hills :]
but i do pretty much everything.

PirateMafioso

Yeah it's called skating!

Not necessarily. Its practically impossible to incorporate all of these styles. Because you only have one style, which is yours. I dont picture Marnell rocking skinnys and jamming anything not reggae, with a thrasher approach to skating. He's a chilled out, clean *** style, reggae bumpin, skater. Not a Corey Duffel who hauls *** and jumps down 20 ft drops.

Big drainage ditches, downhill, pools, flatground, street. Mostly "old-school" because the people who taught me how to skate were 80's vert dogs.

Well, I'm still relearning MANY tricks since it's been nearly 6 years but what I'm going back to and what I was is:

Technical all the damn time, every day, for days and nights street skating. Wasn't a big vert guy, loved the intricacies of street skating and all the possibilities.

As far as the other part of style, I was sort of a perfectionist but very "cool" with my landings and approach. Tricks had to look and feel good before I was happy with them. Almost perfect like video games which I'm sure you could imagine got to be frustrating.

I skate fast with a loose style and generally bent knees. Basically sidewalk surfing while busting huge ollie's!

What I skate though would be basic street (stairs gaps and manny pads) and all ramps from mini ramps to vert bowls. My flatground and tech skills suck!!! :icon_bigg

flat, street, some freestyle.
As for street, I'm more into stairs/gaps/ledges than grinds/slides. I still do them.
I can do some park and would like to skate it but don't have any around.

05-22-2008, 04:24 PM
I skate fast, pop high, try to rotate things slow and land sloppy.
I just like to have fun when I skate so I've got a pretty laid back kooky style.

Flatground, hills, ledges, and manny pads are my favorite spots. Oh..can't forget banks and weird wallrides and other one trick kinda spots.

ZephyrGod
05-22-2008, 05:37 PM
I skate flat a lot of the time. I'm also a pretty decent park and ramp skater.

I rarely do sets and i'm not a huge fan of rails. Love grind boxes and ledges though.

i think this is called forms of skating. not styles. style is like brandon biebel or rob dyrdek have a laid bad, ghetto style.

how can there be a ghetto style os skating? .. maybe you can get a ghetto style of building.. not a ghetto style of skating.. and in a metaphoric type sence a ghetto style of skating would be a poor style of skating.

anyway, yes these are forms of skating.

Nameless
05-22-2008, 06:37 PM
I skate freestyle, but I'm trying to learn to flatground, cuz I not interested in grinds n' slides :), but if I could I'd try park but certainly not vert!!

06-05-2008, 09:33 AM
depends on what or where im skating...

street, i push with my back foot, usually not sketchy, pretty good balance for any type of manny. pretty good pop (if my vote counts)

bowls, i haul @$$... the faster the better

I'd love to say I'm a fast skater with oodles of style, but I tend to skate slow if I can, unless it's unavoidable, like in a skatepark or something.

If truth be told, the only tricks I can do relatively steezy are cavemen/bomb drops...

I used to skate fast and do lots of stairs, and starting tomorrow I'm going back to that!

I like going really fast and jumping down stuff. I'm not patient enough with myself to learn new tricks, so all I really do down gaps/sets are ollies, kickflips, random lame grab tricks, fakie ollies, and nollies. Anything involving a 180 can S my D. I skate mini a lot too, but I do mostly grinds and random tricks to fakie. Whenever I'm skating flatground, I never try new tricks; I just concentrate on making the ones I know look better. I am the anti-tech.
