Hey, i was just wondering what makes you guys keep on skating, and how you started and why you skateboard. Heres my reason.

Well one day i found my brothers skateboard and i started to do ollies and stuff after a while, until i bought my first good deck. I skate because you get to add your own style and you have control, and it defines who you are, and you can customize tricks and make your own. I keep skating because every time a land a new trick(s), or i land a trick for the 5th time, i still feel like its my first time of landing it.:)

i started because my bestfriend told me to. and i skateboard because where i live its unique

Skateboard completed/saved my life. Or else I probably would be one sad fat wow addict with absolutely NO LIFE!

I sort of feel ashamed for saying it but the Tony Hawk games got me into skateboarding as well as other people I know.

i agree with the rest of your reasons but i don't really see how manipulating a piece of wood defines who you are??

Also i skate because two of my mates still do and its something to do plus im trying to loose a bit of flab so its good for that too

i always thought it looked cool, but i finally started skating because i had this great plan to show up my guy friend that would always say, "girls can't skate!" (he was only half serious, but whatever). anyway, i finally learn, and the loser has gotten over skating to devote his life to something else.

now, i just skate to skate.

dang, i only ever have one person to skate with, haha. Still love it though.

Cause it is fun I geuss and alot of my friends skate and I am not palying any other sports anymore so skating is the only exercise I get.

I don't skate. Skateboarding is for gay people.

It makes sense to me more than a lot of any other things. Landing a trick feels so good, and you just want to land more. Making up your own tricks, skating how you want, doing the things you want to do on it..is just pure bliss.

I dont know ,,,,its awesome landing a trick ,,just rolling the feel of your board as you pop and the feeling of flipping it and spinning it, and second jumping off stuff,,its just fun and artistic just the style,,I cant explain it.

It's fun, and i like to do it with my friends.

when i was six i saw some kids skating and wanted to do it. so i started to skate for awhile, bought a pro deck, but then it got stolen. after that i didn't skate until last summer.

start:because I felt like picking it up after dropping it for 7 years

why:to get the honeys! jk mate because its my escape from the world, I feel completely alone and happy when skating, like if I were only alooud to cruise for the rest of my life, I would be fine with that as long as I get to skate, I am happy.

I skate because you get an undescrible sense of freedom, along with a huge adrenalin rush. Which makes it really fun. Meeting new people, staying fit, and it attarcting girls are just perks.

...No actually I skate because I just truly love it!It is the only thing in my life that I could do for 10 hours and not ever get bored.I also just love the independence and all the different styles and cultures involved in skating it is jut great.

Started cuz all my friends were, and it was my transportation. I had no bike, and my parents wouldnt drive me anywhere. when I was like 15. then I quit my junior year of highscool.

got back into it like 5 months ago and Now I skate for exersise, and enjoiment, and freedom.

Am starting to skate because it feels good and its fun,you meet other skaters and good way to keep in shape and its a good way to get around when you dont have any transportation.

I do it for the scare, the thrill, the feeling of rolling away. Its like i escape into my own zone. Skating is my out for all negative vibes feeling and things in my life. It is my safehaven. It will never let me down. It will hurt me, love me and always be there for me to beat the **** out of. Not to mention I have a strange addiction to pain

why? cause I am having fun from skating, I got really good friendships since I started skating, I put all my stress into a piece of wood, aluminium and urethane. it just helps me to run away, like drugs, but in the healthier way.

Just because. Really no reason except that I like it and its not competitive.

i skate because it relieves all the stress in my life. also, its one of those few things where if u learn it you can do anything with it, i relate it to graffiti, if you get good at graffiti, no matter where you go you'll always be good at it, whereas if youre good at video ghames, youre only good at video games when you're somewhere that has a system or a computer. idk if you guys know what im trying tto say but its just one of those things you can see passing down to your kids to learn, and you can show them pictures and stuff like that.

its great to be able to develop your own style too and just do anything with it you want, hell you can make up your own variations of tricks and improve what you have, thats another thing, once you have a trick, you can always improve, no matter what.

2. Recently I borrowed my friends skateboard, and I thought it was pretty fun. Now I have ordered a skateboard, to have something to practise on in the vacation. :)

I skate because it provides myself a sense of freedom. It helps me to reminisce about a couple childhood memories. Lets me know that everything in the world isn't that bad. Skateboarding helps me control my stress/anger by unleashing everything on a rolling piece of wood.

Without freestyle skateboarding; I seriously think I wouldn't be here and alive today... :(

well i started skating recently but the main reason was because i am tired of sitting in front of the computer the whole day and i wanted to do a sport that i can do alone, anytime and almost anywhere:)

Only thing I can really do is push around and cruise up and down some smaller ramps but it's fun and very relaxing for me. I was having a terrible day yesterday but then decided to skate for a while (had been 2-3 months since I had even skated) at a skatepark I found recently. Calmed me down completely after my crappy Tennis performance yesterday. I remembered then why I was doing it.

I first decided to try it because my little brother (who's 13 soon) wanted to do it too and I told him I'd learn with him and skate with him. I wanted to spend more time doing something with him, and get him off the couch some (he is a couch potato and even right now is playing a video game after just waking up lol). Then after screwing around with a wal-mart board for a bit (which barely rolls now, the bearings are crap) I decided I wanted to keep skating and bought all new stuff from skatewarehouse (which has been a HUGE improvement!).

I may not be any good, but it doesn't mean I can't have fun skating around and that's what I intend to keep doing - having fun.

Its fun,you can create tricks...make friends easy...I started sk8 because i see Rodney Mullen(the king),he give me inspiration.

Because i tryed football and basketball, and over time they got boring really quick. So my freind told me that i should start skating so i went out side and skated for a hour. Then i was having so much fun skating with my freind the one hour turned to 3 hours, and then i had to go in. When i got home i thought to my self, "man skating is so fun, i cant wait till tommarow". So i like skating because there is no teams and not that much haters either. I mean that by no one will say, "oh you suck i cant beleive you did not land that kick flip on your first try". But unlike basketball people are always saying, "air ball" or "you have no shots". And dont get me started with foot ball; "i will smash you" or "i will truck you". Also i skate because its just the right crowned for me like people will not make fun of you if you dont land a trick. But other sports its all jocks, and jock are really retarted and are bunch of low lifes that like to pick on kids to look cool.

I started mainly because it looked fun, life really wasn't challenging me, skating looked cool and i learned how to skate (kinda terrible though) thanks to mainefreestyle who showed me and taught me how to skate

There's nothing like cracking the tail off the ground, feeling the board level out under your feet, and getting that moment of weightlessness before stomping the wheels to the ground. It's one of my favorite feelings.

It only allows me to have fun, and progress as I fell fit! It does not what me to ride when I don't feel like riding, but it DOES what me to ride, when I DO feel like riding. It is my love! It is my passion, and it IS why I skateboard!

I skate because its fun and it's better than being on the computer all day.

I skate because it's who I am, and it's the best feeling ever.

Because it gives me an incredible rush, it takes my mind off everything else and alows me just to focus on the board. That feeling is awesome. The sound of the skateboard is also awesome.

And even if I suck at skateboarding I still enjoy it more than loads of other things

best friends started me. i looked up to him, now he rarely skates and im skating 24/7. i do it because i always have fun, and its like, im unaffected by the world when riding...nothing cna put me down when im on my board
