Baseball season is back and I am so pumped. Chicago Cubs fan here. Not sure that the NL Central will be any better than last year, but at least within the division it appears there will be some competition between the Cubs, Cardinals and Brewers.

I don't follow the American League too closely but I guess I pull for the White Sox in the AL.

Any other baseball fans out there? What is your team?

Used to be a Cubs fan also. LOL. whats up you yankee. J/K I moved to Georgia 4 years ago from illinois. Im now a proud fan of the Braves.

I also dont follow the AL much. Cubs are off to a pretty decent start this year. I hope they do something!

Dodgers. Not so psyched for this year. Pitching's decent, but not enough bats. Andruw Jones was a stupid signing, he's not even hitting his weight.

I'll pull for the Angels in the AL, they've got a shot.

Cubs destroyed the Brewers last night 19-5. They put up almost as many runs as the Chicago Bears average points scored last season (20.9). The NL Central is going to be tight this year. Geovany Soto had a huge game, too...two 3 run homers in one game! Can you say rookie of the year?

The Cubs will fall apart against my Cards like they do every year. I already have tickets for two games when they are in Philly.

As for the fan survey thing, I thought St Louis would be way higher. Lots of players have taken a lot less money to play in St Louis because of the city/ fans.

My Cubbies had a huge sweep of the D-Backs this weekend. Started the Padres series off right last night with a severe beat down. Three more games against the Padres and then a home series against the Pirates this week could be a needed shot in the arm for the Cubs after that mini-slump they were in.

I'll admit they're not doing that great though.

The White Sox are back in first after the Reds swept the Tribe in interleague play this weekend. Now the Sox have a series against the Indians themselves, a real chance to to put some distance between them. Hopefully the Sox can benefit from a crappy division and sneak into the playoffs.

Peat
05-29-2008, 12:20 PM
Yeah, the Dodgers offense looked feeble at best. Although they've been rocked by injuries, so part of it is just bad luck. I was glad to see the Cubs win some games where they weren't putting up tons of runs.

Peat
06-20-2008, 05:37 PM
Cubs win!!! Sick walk-off homer for Aramis Ramirez to beat the White Sox in the first game of the Crosstown Classic. Both the Cubs and Sox are in first place, the city is so stoked right now...you'd think the Cardinals were in town or something.

When I was living in St Louis it was great to go up there for a Cards game. Too bad that wont happen this summer.

Peat
07-07-2008, 01:24 PM
A shaky road trip for the Cubs ended on a high note with a series win over the Cardinals in St. Louis. I didn't see the middle game, but the radio made it sound like that non-call on the Molina check swing in the 9th was a pretty bad call...not sure if it is broadcaster bias or truly a blown call, but the Cubs would have had a sweep if it weren't for that. Either way, Kerry Wood blew it big time and deserved that loss.

Big news in the NL Central today with C.C. Sabathia going to the Brewers.

I was watching the game, it was close. But could have gone either way. But Im a Cards fan, so thats probably not really true. Im still holding out on a second half jump from the Cards, and truely think it will happen. The Cardinals are always a much better second half team.

Tough split series for the Cubs against the Phillies. We just couldn't put the runs up on the board. Hopefully this isn't a preview of how the Cubs would fare in the playoffs...althought if we play like that the rest of the season, the Brewers stay hot and the tight race in the East results in a wild card in their division we may not make the playoffs.

I'm not a baseball head, but the Red Sox are the home team. Understand that I sat through '75, '78, '86, '03, etc until the heavens opened up and we finally ended that wretched curse. 2007 not withstanding, it was an amazingly emotional time for anyone and everyone in this area. And I'm glad that my self, my son, my father and grandfather were all alive when it all went down.

I hope so...I'm worried b/c the Twins are hosting the Royals in the Dome for their remaining games...Sox have the Indians.
