Pooldog I need to pick your brain on a normal progression of tricks for transition skating.

Pooldog I need to pick your brain on a normal progression of tricks for transition skating.

The things to work on within the steps can be done in any order but you should do alot of step 1 before 2 and so on.

Step 1:
Drop in.
Kickturns and pumping to fakie.

^^ This stage is just to get you comfy with the ramp and your centre of balance.

Step 2:
Kickturns on coping. (backside slash grinds)
Rock to fakie.
Fakie rock
Fakie to tail stall.

^^ Tricks to try after you're comfortable.


Step 3:
Frontside Kickturns.
Rock and roll.
Axle stall.

I actually learned Axle's before any rock trick but in hindsight I think rock to fakie's are easier than Axles.

Step 4:
Frontside rock and roll.
Reverts.
Fakie kickturn to rock and roll.
Fakie Kickturn to rock and roll to revert.
Backside Pivots
50-50 (sliding axle)
Axle stall to revert out.
Axle Stall to fakie.
Nollie kickturn to fakie rock. (kickturned disaster)
etc.

Step 5
Anything you want to learn including blunts, disasters and frontside airs.

^^ As you can see, once you've done step three you'll be comfortable enough on the ramps to try whatever variations of the tricks you want.





These aren't strict at all. My actual progression was more like . . .

Nothing but dropping in pumping and getting speed in a bowl. This included slash grinds, bert slides and early grabs.

Axle stalls, Boneless's on ramps, grinds and early grabs over the coping.

Then I learned how to rock. From the rock I learned; Rock to fakie, Rock and roll, Fakie to rock, Nollie kickturned disaster, lipslides (own), 360 rocks and 540 rocks. And I learned all these in about the space of a week.

Everyone always says that ramp is way harder than street but if you get your balance down and you're doing everything right you can progress pretty quick. It hurts way less than stairs too!

A pool obsession's never a bad thing. I was in the middle of a pool obsession when I made my username, even though the best things I can do in a real bowl is pretty standard. There's nothing better in the summer than a long session with your mates lying around the pool. We stayed there for 6 hours one day and when my Dad came to pick us up we were dehydrated, not far off heat stroke and we were covered in concrete dust.

I just checked the sheet. Two of the mini tricks were worth 25 each and the seak and finds were 50 each so I got just under 200 points!!!

I'm not to bad. I can do a solid backflip and some other junk. I geuss I'll do it. If you've got any suggestions for me then plz shout out.

The only thing I can think of is me with a pair of old sneakers duck taped to a deck doing backflips and front flip 180's. It's fun but not very creative.

Well guys i skated a bit today, i was trying to film a triple kickflip but i could not, and in the last attempts i filmed all the 10 points tricks from the flatground thing, but the file got corrupted and i don't have it.. but well that's not exactly a problem.. i can film those tricks anytime haha

Hehe, I haven't gotten any footy in about half a week. But I had a biatching good skate this weekend so feel happy for me! I skated a huge new vert bowl in Sydney and I was getting tile on both sides nearly every run and I even got deep end coping!!! I was soooooo stoked.

Sh** I just injured my heel real bad on this big ass gap at the skatepark. Man I had the balls to do it and everything just rode up on it popped a perfect one landing about 2 feet past the gap, it was about the size of a 7 stair...back foot was on but front heel stomped concrete in a bad way son. Bad sh**. I'm basically a gimp at the moment. Keep my fingers crossed for it not to hurt to bad tomorrow.

ouch man ive had that happen before, was skating an old drainage ditch and i slammed at the top, and wouldnt ya know my heel landed dead on the edge of the concrete, that was like 2 weeks ago, still hurts lol

I just had the best skate ever!!!

Started out at the park with a mate then all these younger skaters that worship us rocked up (they skate pretty good too) and we all went for a huge street. So we pretty much took the entire park of 6 skaters with us on a school session.

After tkating the 4 5 and 7 sets we see these other skaters scream out "COPS!" and in 2 seconds we're all sprinting around the outside of the school to get out the gate. This school's on top of a massive hill, and of course with the added freak out of knowing the cops are about to get in the paddy wagon and hoon us down we all take the challenge of a hill bomb.

We bloody charged.

We only saw the cop wagon come out of the school when we got to the bottom and turned around so we had a good 2/3's of a km ahead of them. We pick up our boards and sprint across a car park in through a backyard and hid in another carpark a street over.

We ended up sneaking our way back to the skatepark through the backstreets.

In the end we got a whole lot of footage, a 180 down a 5 and a 5-0 to tailslide on the mini at the park.

It was a good skate.

Man, I just had tthe best session today, was amazing. Started out getting woke up at freakin 9am on a sunday by my friend telling me to head out and meet them up town to skate, so i woke up showered all that good stuff and headed out, met them uptown and ollied a fairly big gap second try. then i first tried a fs 180 off a 3footish ledge. Then we met up with 2 more friends and kept on skating, Bombed a HUGE hill like 2 blocks long and very steep on rough pavement and went to the other side of town. My friend first tryed a BIG gap, about 5 foot or so long maybe a foot high. then we went to the 3 stair set nearby it and i figured out how to do pop shove its down stairs, Got them pretty nice and got one fairly nice one on film. After that one of my other homies busted out a 360 flip down it lol, Then brought his truck over to the stairs and parked it in front of them and put the tailgate down and we grinded his tailgate :P a few minutes later my dumbass friend who has landed one ugly ass hardflip got cocky and thought he would bust one out down the 3, credit carded himself and it was hilarious. Sucked for him but it was still pretty funny :P then we pissed off a store manager on film to be a ****.(The guy is a complete *******)

My sessions have been alright, I've been skating ramps nearly everyday I have some free time. Massive improvements on everything except flatground.
