Ok so i'm sitting in class and guess what comes on the announcements?

next year there will be a "SKATEBOARDING COURSE" you get full course credit, and all you have to do is set your own goals and skate three times a week!

and every month our vice principal (who is a G) will drive us to skateparks

That is so awesome but i have a feeling every kid in school that doesnt skate is gunna be like skateboarding class?!? cool im signing up!!!!! could turn out bad but at least you get to skate during school!!!

Oh man. That would be sh***y if the class filled up with non-skaters just trying to get an easy credit. Make sure you and your friends sign up early.

yeah same with me. they would never do it in my school. i only know of a couple of skaters. me and like maybe 2 other kids in my grade. two sophomores, and then a bunch of seniors who rarely skate either way. so they wouldnt let us do that.
it would be sooo cool if they did though.

i wish i had that at the high school i'm going to next year. but there's a ton of skaters in my grade and older grades so maybe it could happen.

Its amazing on how much progress skateboarding has made and how many labels it has and the different music change and styles.
and now theyre letting us skate at school.

god that would be awesome in my school. there's tons of people that skate in my school. just about every boy at least does sometime and there's like 100 serious ones but our vice principal is a moron but were getting a new principle so one can hope.

I regret graduating this year. The upside is there is a skatepark about 5 blocks from my college in easy driving distance.

But if I could have skated for school credit, high school would have been a good place to be.lol

I don't know if your school is going to carry all the way through with this.

*Envious* Actually now that i think about it, there's actually one middle school in my town that has something like this. They go once a week i think and just skate for the whole day. Too bad I couldn't convince my parents to move =]

The closest thing we have at my current school is Skate Shop Class. (It's a middle school) We make ramps/rails/ect and skate them. Which is still pretty cool i guess...
Too bad its my last year.

are school is like a "self directed" or something.. but we only have one set class for each course a week. the rest we just plan in, so we have free blocks. and there is a skatepark just across the street.

My schools way too team sport oriented for me. I jsut don't buy into team sports like rugby or football. There not much for the individual other than badminton, tennis and swimming. It sucks. We're not even meant to bring in skateboards, health and safety or some bull****, we still do though.

Yeah, our school just banned bringing skateboards on the bus, and if you take your skateboard outside, you can't come back into school with the skateboard.

Probably because they associate all skaters with alcohol and bringing it into school or something.

But yeah, I don't know if I'd believe skateboarding as a class. I could believe an after school program with liability forms and what, 'cause a lot of schools do that with snowboarding/skiing.

Either way, whether it's true or not it's brought the idea up, and maybe someone will bring it to the board of education or something.

I had a gym class, but the gym doors go out into the back parking lot, so our gym teacher let us skate outside. It lasted two days until some janitor snitched on us.

A teacher said something about creating a school skate team, like an after school thing like football or whatever. He said we'd skate in a competition, nothing happened about it tho lol.

yea i think i heard something about a skateboarding club on the anouncements at the beginning of 9th grade but i never really bothered signing up or w/e because it was probably just at the crappy skatepark and they would be like trying to teach u an ollie or something or how to drop in and id rather just skate on my own time not in some club thing

cmon your school is giving credit for skating? no **** people will say "oh i wanted to start skating anyway but never had the time to do it so ill take this class" then they end after the class is over

its like how skating cant be in the olympics. its just to mainstream

seriously dont do it. all your doing is making skating more controled by the goverment (school = goverment, thats why its illegal for us not to go)

imo being stoked for a class is for tools. because thats what they want you to do, they want you to have that 1 class in the day thats so much fun so you go to school and they get money then they spend that money on somthing us kids dont need. (our school bought flat screens while the benches we sit on are falling apart on us)

trust me theres more to this class then skating dont do it.
