heartagram695 05-02-2008, 11:02 PM do you parents ever threaten to take away your skateboard or even do use your love of skateboarding against you?
im just wondering because just today i was informed by my parents after having a great sesh with my best friend that my skateboard is officially taken away. they said its for not wearing my helmet but i think thats total :icon_bs: because i never wear it and they know it.
and also does anyone have any tips for dealing with parents on that same subject as in arguing that i really didnt do anything wrong because i really didnt.
Enjoi2 05-03-2008, 06:45 PM I am know for having my board taken away. I know my parents are way worse than yours,,if I argue like once Ive had my board gone for like 2 weeks,,if I get 1 bad test I have it taken till I get a c or higher on the next, just stupid stuff,,,my dog followed me last year me and my friend didnt even know all of a sudden we looked back and there was muffin following us a few miles from my house,,we were too lazy to go back so we keep walking it ended up getting lost and I had my board gone for 2 months, plus I lied about it. yall think Im retarded but im going on,,,my parents threatened this year if I get a d in math they were taking my board all summer,,,,they use my love of skating against me all the time. Now do you feel better?
guitarkid7 05-03-2008, 06:47 PM They don't mention it or anything, plus I never get grounded. My parents are cool.
My brother and dad are like "Ohh, this guy on his skateboard" joking around.
And my mom is like "What do you see in this sport" everytime she finds out I fall.
no_skating 05-03-2008, 06:59 PM Just do what your parents say. It's that simple. It sucks and it doesn't seem cool at the time, but they're probably right in the long run. If you just listen to them you won't get yelled at.
You'll probably thank them when you're an adult. They wouldn't make you do something if they weren't looking out for your best intentions.

actually i kinda do. that totally sucks that parents use their "power" to that extent.
angelo 05-03-2008, 11:58 PM To tell you the truth, your parents need to open their eyes...
Get the idea of the sport to them, show apreciation for the sport, show them how much you love doing what you do, and how you do it (without a helmet).
But if the helmet thing truly is the case, then you should just be happy that you can skate.
usmc1991 05-04-2008, 12:31 AM My parents are pretty cool, but they did get really pissed when I spent $160 on a "Piece of Wood".
ccv1991 05-04-2008, 12:33 AM Yeah I am actually grounded for two weeks from my board right now effin sucks too!
silentscary 05-04-2008, 04:09 PM my dad is like "i don't want you getting hurrttt or anything"
the funny thing is, he never tells my brother that. lol.
other than that, they're cool with it.
DJ Hankey 05-04-2008, 04:33 PM Yes, once i did something really bad and my mom threatend to take my skate board and the sport it self away from me!But i still dont know why they would take the sport away from me, maby its because its the only thing i ever do.
2h2bloodknife 05-04-2008, 07:50 PM That happened to me before, just say "I promise I'll start wearing my helmet from now on" and hopefully they give your back your board.
It is the exact same for me dude. I was out in my garage one day and my mom walks out and sees me not wearing my helmet. she's like what are you doing?!?!? i say mom its ok im not going to bust my head open and shes like dont even step on that thing without a helmet on!!!! i got pissed that she was getting so worked up so i jumped on and rode around and then she took my board away for a week -_______-
mosaic1 05-08-2008, 02:07 PM whenever my parents threaten me with the 'ill saw your board in half' i just tell them they better buy me a new one lol. :)
but i mean i dont really live with them anymore so i cant say that lol.
feedmysleaze 05-08-2008, 04:59 PM your parents dont want you to get brain damage from falling on your head. An there has been cases of it wear a helmet.
punkybambi 05-11-2008, 10:12 PM yes many times for ex if you dont do this i hide your skate -_-
colorado 05-12-2008, 02:45 PM Put your foot down. If they take away your board, steel their keys and take away their means of transportation. Haha.
Fallenskater878 05-12-2008, 02:59 PM Put your foot down. If they take away your board, steel their keys and take away their means of transportation. Haha.
haha. if i did that my parents would snap me in half
Andrew Jay 05-13-2008, 07:34 AM Nah, i hardly get in trouble these days and if i do i jsut can't hang out with friends so i just skate by my self.
Sonix 05-13-2008, 07:55 AM They have never taken skateboard from me, nor did they ever tell me that I can't skate. There were times I couldn't go out because I had to study but that was maybe for one day. My both parents support me, not financially though :D
luiggy3 05-13-2008, 09:11 AM I love my parents. They encourage my skateboarding. :D
Whatever 05-14-2008, 03:32 PM my parents really dont care
heres a tip: listen to your parents, they love u and care for you thats why they want you to wear your helmet, they probably just realized its dangerous and decided to tell u to wear it
Shadowskater 05-14-2008, 03:42 PM I can't skate for two weeks because I stole my mom's car and went downtown and ran out of gas. Then the cops came but it was that bad, well I don't think it was but still I can't skate till the end of the month now.
phlap 05-14-2008, 04:00 PM I can't skate for two weeks because I stole my mom's car and went downtown and ran out of gas. Then the cops came but it was that bad, well I don't think it was but still I can't skate till the end of the month now.
Dude, how do you even know how to drive? You're 15!
FS Jordan BS 05-14-2008, 04:14 PM my parents dont understand skateboarding... at all.
so i think that they think taking my board away isnt a suitable punishment.
dylanbrow 05-15-2008, 02:11 PM my parents don't really care that i dont wear a helmet, when i go out, they just say, "don't break your neck"
They don't mention it or anything, plus I never get grounded. My parents are cool.
My brother and dad are like "Ohh, this guy on his skateboard" joking around.
And my mom is like "What do you see in this sport" everytime she finds out I fall.
they always ask me what you see in the sport, but i just laugh at the fact.
Geissler 05-15-2008, 02:43 PM My parents have always been cool with what I want to do, and have never found a good punishment in taking away my deck..
My dad occasionally watches me skate, only to say afterwards "hey, you haven't learned anything in like the past 3 years... why don't you give it up?" {rf)
He's right, I guess, but he doesn't really understand that if I skate more, I'll get better. Meh.
seetskater 06-14-2008, 08:24 AM My parents are always on business trips so they can't really monitor me. When they ask I just say I wear my helmet and haven't been neglecting my homework.
Merging doublepost
I meant when they asked. Not when I asked lol.
Depends on their mood.
If they're pissed, they'll take my board without an explanation
If they're in a good mood, they'll encourage it
:/
My parents don't threaten me with taking my board. They like that it keeps me outside.
phantomxrider 06-16-2008, 07:09 PM hah, i just made a post about my stories. theyd take up too much space for a regular reply.
i have this one frined of mine named dustin. his parents are the most ballin people around and ive never even met them before. they ground him, but let him to tuesdays and weekends because thats when he skates the town and the park. go figure lol.
Skaterbabe15 06-16-2008, 08:20 PM My parents are actually pretty understanding about skateboarding.
Yea they have their "if you don't do this, no skateboard" moments, but otherwise their cool with me skateboarding.
Their pretty chill with anything i do.
As long as it doesn't interfere with hockey or school.
lol.
Sk8_Alchemist 06-18-2008, 09:40 AM hell yeah. I hate my parents \:
MysterySk8er3 06-18-2008, 12:21 PM No, my parents haven't taken my board away......yet.... I don't think they will either unless I do something really stupid.
The Beard 06-18-2008, 03:22 PM move out.
coreyduffelson! 06-18-2008, 03:35 PM My mom never grounds me off my skateboard or takes it away specifically, but she does ground me off of going anywhere and leaving. And you do have to go somewhere and leave to skate.
friglesnart 06-19-2008, 11:11 AM Mine don't care as long as I don't get hurt or be late for sports.
