View Full Version : Skaterscafe uk gathering!
Paul J 05-05-2008, 12:24 PM It has been decided in an msn convo by me and edd (SSkateSS) that it would be a rather amazing idea if we were to have a skaterscafe uk gathering! Now, we were discussing, and thought London would be the best option, as it is easily acessable from everywhere. Either bay 66 or southbank would be awesome venues, but it's up to everyone really, we don't have to have it in london. Now for a date, July would be best, this year of course, but yet again we need to all decide on the best date.
Not sure if it will happen for sure yet, we need people to show some interest or course and there's not too many people from the uk on this site, so yeah anyone can come, not just people from the uk! more on the lines of europeans rather then americans as it would be rather costly for them but if you're super rich then you can fly over if you want, that would be immense.
Now show some interest! and discuss.

Minihub 05-05-2008, 02:15 PM Hey Guys:) Its unlikely that I'd be able to come down there to London, or really to anywhere in England:icon_snif Its gonna be a hectic summer. But just letting you know anyway that I think its a great Idea. And if I can't come, I'd still be happy to help yous organise.
FS Jordan BS 05-05-2008, 02:20 PM depends on the date, and how much i progress...

silentscary 05-05-2008, 02:48 PM i might actually be able to if its the very end of july :)))
i always fly through london, so maybe i could get an extra long layover and come skate with you guys : ))

We need to decide on a venue and a date. I'm not sure about the best places in london, because i've never skated there but bay 66 looks pretty sick.
terence123trh 05-05-2008, 04:57 PM this would be epic

ild say southbanks because i ruthly know were that is lol
FS Jordan BS 05-06-2008, 11:36 AM i think bay 66 is under the portabelor road or something. its deffinatley under a road.
sskatess 05-06-2008, 11:55 AM ild say southbanks because i ruthly know were that is lol
Southbank is easy to find, i go there every few weeks or so, if you can get to waterloo station it's like pretty much in sight as you get out the station.
It's great there because you can get to other spots easily too plus camden skatepark is pretty easily accessible (which is a pretty cool park)
Sk8erwill8 05-06-2008, 01:21 PM Man this sounds like an idea i was meant to be going london this summer anyway:)
ZephyrGod 05-07-2008, 05:02 PM I doubt i'd be able to get all the way up to London from Devon for the sole reason of meeting some skaterscafe members. Although i'd really like to if i could.
I'm not sure what i'm doing this summer yet as i could be moving to France at some point.

Well I live in derby which is a 3 hour car journey from london, I'll prob get a train to st pancras int and then tube it the rest of the way.
sskatess 05-10-2008, 01:06 PM The train is the best, I'll be getting it to london bridge then the tube to Waterloo i suppose.
phlap 05-13-2008, 06:58 AM Now, we were discussing, and thought London would be the best option, as it is easily acessable from everywhere.
But a sizable portion of UK members are from NI & Scotland, Not forgetting the north of England.
And because I'm going to BCN too, I won't make it, due to a lack of quids.

I was thinking stoke plaza, which is in the middle of england, but SSkateSS argued that london would be better :(
terence123trh 05-13-2008, 07:39 AM ^ stoke palza looks ****ing amazing, not sure what else is around there though, and i probaly wont be able to make it.
sskatess 05-13-2008, 11:18 AM I was thinking stoke plaza, which is in the middle of england, but SSkateSS argued that london would be better :(
I didn't hugely argue lol, i just thought that london has easiest transport links and such.
Paul J 05-13-2008, 11:44 AM I didn't hugely argue lol, i just thought that london has easiest transport links and such.
muahaha :P
yeah it wasn't really an arguement, just brick throwing and negotiating.
arto-geoff 05-13-2008, 12:36 PM i think london would be best mainly because its the easiest place in england for me to get to :D
skateandlive94 05-13-2008, 01:54 PM I would love to go but I'm only 14 and I live In Somerset so getting trasport there would be practicly impossible. If you randomly chose Taunton in Somerset as your venue that would be top banana but that's not gonna happen...
Minihub 05-13-2008, 04:42 PM Deary me... How much is a train ticket Glagow to London anyone have any ideas?
In fact, I'll look it up ...
EDIT: Maybe up to £100. Sorry guys I think I might have to sit this one out :p

silentscary 05-16-2008, 10:23 AM im afraid i cant make it either, my mom booked my flight before i could tell her to leave me time in London, so the layover is only 3 hours in the morning, so it's impossible for me aswell :((
but have an amazing time!!!!

Ampx612 05-29-2008, 12:34 PM I would so be up for it but.. London is a bit far for me to make it which sucks :/ but why not have it on go skateboarding day in Manchester, Vans skate team are doing a demo... Up to you guys :)

Paul J 06-01-2008, 09:53 AM Damn, not sure If I can afford to stay over the night :/
Ampx612 06-01-2008, 10:24 AM damn, that sucks >.<" Ah well, i'll probs see you at the és game of skate at projekts the next day, just a spectator :P

joe1206 06-23-2008, 04:25 PM You could go to creation/epic skatepark in birmingham
london sounds great i think southbank is kl i can defo make it as long as its not late late july since im leavin on the 27th but yh sounds gd now i just need to get good :P
the_skater123 07-15-2008, 02:33 PM go to stratford upon avon theres a good skatepark there
Paul J 07-15-2008, 02:44 PM I think this idea basically died after a few of us met in manchester. Me and rob (01rmck) will be going to stoke plaza and bones skatepark (in stockport) this summer but we havn't decided any dates yet. Anyone who wants to come is more then welcome to ;)
Ampx612 07-15-2008, 03:32 PM Bones will probably be on Saturday 26th July.

arto-geoff 07-15-2008, 07:43 PM alright heres my idea give it a chance. i say we all meet up in belfast and everyone stays in my house and we hav a party
Paul J 07-15-2008, 07:51 PM ^ You f*cking genius, why didn't we think of that before?
I say we all meet up in Canada, eh? eh? Cmon!
Ampx612 07-16-2008, 01:46 PM I say we all meet up in Canada, eh? eh? Cmon!
I see what you did there xD
:( unfair, im not allowed to bay or southbank without a adult. -.-
If you do plan on hitting london, i wouldn't mind meeting at a place like greenwich, charlton or woolwich.
Just add me on msn: liekstoof@live.co.uk
arto-geoff 07-20-2008, 02:06 PM how about isle of man
how about my local park ?
unoriginal 07-21-2008, 01:58 PM Im coming over to england, gonna be around oxford and london.. The london idea is completely off then? =/ How long would a train ride from london or oxford to stockport take do ya think? Its what, about 250km?
Paul J 07-21-2008, 02:12 PM ^ uhh about 3 hours on the train maybe. Lol
unoriginal 07-21-2008, 02:15 PM Hmmm well that sucks!
Maybe another time then xD
Maybe next year when I go to england to study I can meet up with some of you guys :P
NOOOO the stockport thing is on sunday
saturday is the inliner comp!
sunday at 11 - 4
Ill be there, ill be wearing a trilby or a new era cap and have uber curly hair
Merging doublepost
infact, come to central skatepark in manchester! its awesome!
01rmck 08-03-2008, 04:37 PM ^^^man i hate central, you have to be amazing to skate there every obstacle is straight onto another. Plus no street. Although it is home to the smallest step up in the world lol:P
I think the best skatepark i've been to so far is ramp city in blackpool but it's a nightmare to get there so that's kindof out of the question for a meetup tbh.
The house in sheffield was AMAZING yesterday. My body is wrecked though, all of my left side is bruised:p. And also i learnt that ollie manual kickflip outs are possibly the most annoying trick ever:p how many goes did i have paul or aaron?? Probably close to 60-70?? I had to give up in the end:(
Then again i learnt masses of new (mini)miniramp stuff so it's all good:D
Paul J 08-03-2008, 04:45 PM ^ Something like that, you got one of the challenges though!
I failed all mine, I didn't even try the 720 forward flip aaron told me to do :/
BTW make a video with the mini ramp footage. Or send me mine, pleash ;)
01rmck 08-03-2008, 05:03 PM ^^^Come on man, thats the basics! Lol was that kickflip actually any good? it felt really sloppy haha. I was stoked with my doubleflip rock and bean/fastplant (whatever it's called) though:-D
I should get the footy off my camera tommorow. I've got to sift through like 20minutes of straight footy, nightmare. I'll tell you when ive got it off my camera then we can decide what to do with it.
Ampx612 08-04-2008, 06:10 AM lol yeah, rob did one of his challenges, and its pretty obvious you could have landed that manny kickflip out, paul on the other hand, did nothing, you fail paul, 720 forward flip isnt even hard i can do 1080 forward flips with my teeth, for shame paul.
JAYKAY <3

awh i like central, even if it is a bit cramped with the obstacles
have you been since it got re-done?
and yeh the step up is tiny
sskatess 08-04-2008, 06:44 AM Argh, I wanna go to one of these meetups lol, Need to find a place that's good in between us all. Obviously there is London but it's a bit far for a lot of you.
Ampx612 08-04-2008, 07:03 AM edd why do you live in such an awkward place lmao
01rmck 08-04-2008, 11:26 AM awh i like central, even if it is a bit cramped with the obstacles
