Hi,
I want to get a longboard but I'd like to know what board/bearings/trucks you would recommend for a 260 pounder like me.
The following is a list of brands at the biggest skate/surf shop here:
the available board brands are:
sector 9
skull skates
landyachtz
lush
motion
jam
insect
arbor
the available truck brands are:
independent
randall
pivot
tracker
seizmac
baku
gullwing
bearing brands aren't listed on the web site.
I'm assuming any decent board and trucks should be fine, but i have a feeling i'll wear out bearings (wheels too?) pretty fast.
What should I do (besides hit the treadmill)?
Thanks in advance.

Where I'm from people seem partial to sector 9's, but then again the major skate shops nearly ONLY sell sectors...
okay... so maybe that didn't help... O-/-<]: :)

i have a really big buddy around +300lbs. that skates longboards.
i called him up and he recomends arbors because that's the only board that holds his kindof weight. and either tracker or seismic trucks. i like the seismic because of the springs for better turning and what not but its really personal preferance :)

Dude, get a loaded board. They have custom a custom flex depending on how heavy you are. I recommend getting a flex one. Check out they're site. http://loadedboards.com

I make a 8ply and 9ply, we use the blanks for various appliances, cruisers to slalom boards where no flex is needed. As well big dudes and not all are big, most will smash your teeth in let along snake you and pull a 3' front side air on a 42" board. I'm 6'5" and 250 and former military man, I fall the earth shakes type stuff so I know I need a good solid board to ollie or even kickflip.
Ps I kickflip to upset most guys riding drop trough mounted boards :) hehe

Hi ya.
I ride a sector Nine Luke nose walker 57 with Seismic trucks and Avila 3DM 75mm and ceramic 11 bearings. This is a killer set up.
This set up is killer for high speeds and serious carving..The seismic trucks react just like good old water, and this board is built for speed.

yeah.. they only seem to sell sector nines the 2 places i live too (college and home)
make sure whatever board you get that it doesn't flex too much for you.. if you are jumping up and down and the board hits the ground, you probably want something a little more stable. (most longboards will bounce btw) (something that i never got used to)
