"Government limits individual actions and choices, from the way in which we educate our children to the food that we eat, from the type of light bulbs that illuminate our living rooms to the benefits that we receive for working. It is time to again trust individuals to make their own decisions. At the core of libertarianism is a trust in and respect for the personal choices of every individual. All Americans should be free to decide what is best for themselves and their families."

seems reasonable ive always liked the libertarian party but not as much as green.

Seems like a more realistic Ron Paul.

I'm all for this, I don't care what party they are, if they can promise smaller government then they have my vote.

you need government, but I believe it should just supply the basics.

Out of curiosity who would one vote for if they wanted no goverment? Out of the current candidates.

I have never voted for any one in my life. Every election since I was able to vote, I have casted a blank ballot. I believe that voting for any one(no matter who) is against what I believe, so I will vote for no one.

Interesting choice. You probably give some one a fit when they're sitting there trying to figure out if you tried voting or not.

I always thought you were far liberal.

There are some in the anarchist community that think voting for the lesser of evils is a good idea. I disagree with that. My wording wasnt super clear, but I think I got my point across. Here is it another way:

As an anarchist, I think that voting works against everything that I desire. So I vote for no one.

Well that's a democracy, I don't see the logic in not voting at all. Voting for the lesser of two evils is the way it is now, and I'd rather have someone like an Obama as opposed to a Hillary or McCain, and I actually like Obama

Which brings me to another point, what exactly do you desire? Anarchism over democracy? I bet you'd regret that...

theres no such thing as anarchy ffc

I think this thread should turn into a thread on anarchism, so I am going to open a new one based on your above post.

I don't like voting for the "less of two evils", I have watched and understand Mr. Barr's position and I will be voting for him.

I saw him on Colbert the other night. I'm for anyone who wants to restore our liberties and keep the government small. Obama's message of change is hopeful. But that's all it really is... a hope. The republicans and the democrats basically keep their same agendas every 4 years. The 2 party system is corrupt and it hasn't been satisfying the American people's needs. I think it is time for change. I think it's time that we have more options when electing our leaders. I'd love to see either Barr or Nader in the white house. It's sad, but it's not going to happen. The people need to stop conforming to the two party system. We need to realize that the people have all of the power, not the system. If a majority of us vote for a new kind of leader, we're going to get real change, not just the hope for change. I'll be voting Barr in November if Nader isn't on the ballot. That is if I don't just cast an empty ballot like FFC... which is very tempting.

I absolutely agree, I just think voting Barr will end up hurting one of the candidates as opposed to helping a greater cause...

Of course Barr's votes will hurt the other candidates.. because they won't be getting those votes. The two major parties complain about the 3rd party candidate taking their votes away every election. I could care less. The Elephants and Donkeys need to stop whining and start preparing for more competition. Everyone expects it to be a 'two person' race every year. It's sickening. The problem is that if no one ever branches out and votes for a candidate that isn't either Republican or Democrat then that is all we will ever have. If we want to have a wider selection in years to come then we have to start voting for more contenders. In every interview of Barr I've watched he says that he's not trying to hurt either of the major candidates. He acknowledges that he has no chance to win. He states that he is trying to broaden the presidential options for years to come. This really does need to happen too. What percentage of the popular vote goes to the third party every year? Around 1.2% usually..(that's a guess). I can guarantee you that far more 1% of American voters don't fall into one of the major two parties. People vote within the main parties because they don't want to 'throw their vote away', but what they don't realize is that they're really throwing their votes away for years to come by confining themselves to the same reciprocating cycle.

He was on the Colbert Report the other day.

"What made you become pro marijuana all of a sudden? Did someone slip you a hash brownie?"

"Well, the brownies were good but I don't know if they had hash in em."

Lolololol.

Voting for the other canadates will end up hurting Barr....and what is the greater cause?? (just saying as far as who we vote for) ;)

Of course if McCain picks Condoleezza Rice as his running mate that would be the smartest move he could make.

I understand the theory in that, it's just as much as I'd like Barr to win I know the Americans will never elect him, in other words:

1) Barr
2) Obama
3) McCain

^ My opinion of best to worst, I know that #1 is not going to get elected because people just won't vote for him and he entered too late. I can end up voting for #1 and thus hurting candidates #2 & #3, but deep down I know #1 wont win...and we may end up with #3 as opposed to #2. It might just bite us in the ass...
