View Full Version : Laws I think that should be changed.. Anyone Agree?
blankboard42 05-19-2008, 09:18 PM I believe the drinking age and smoking of any tobbaco product age should be reduced to 16. In Germany I believe its 16 for both and you can buy cigarettes in vending machines. If teens knew that smoking at this age and drinking was "Legal" then i think most of them wouldn't care like italians and not over do everything. Your taught in grammar school cigarettes= death and dont over drink. We dont need big ages for things as petty as this.
Boobies 05-19-2008, 09:22 PM kids do it anyways
if people want to do something illegal they will anyways
Shorty's_Kid 05-19-2008, 09:23 PM It won't change a thing.
Kids over here are idiots. They do things knowing how bad they are for them, no matter how bad they are for you. It's quite pathetic, really.
deadbeans 05-19-2008, 10:26 PM well, it's up to them.
jesushadherpes 05-20-2008, 02:18 PM the legal age to POSSES tobacco products is 16
7evenUp 05-20-2008, 03:13 PM theres one law i wanna change:
in delaware, schools only accept you if the pople you live with have FULL guardianship or custody over you. i was going to move to delaware for a year and live with sebum (Sev7n), but his school won't accept me because my parents would have to give his parents full guardianship, and if they did, they might not even get it back if the judge doesnt feel like it. plus, in order for them to get guardianship over me i would have to live there for 6 months already, which is impossible.
now ill have to move to Fond du Lac, Wiscosin and live with my aunt instead... which isnt too bad actually, but living with sev7n would have been like TONS cooler.
blankboard42 05-20-2008, 04:14 PM the legal age to POSSES tobacco products is 16
Where i live i can posses it at any age just not buy it
jesushadherpes 05-20-2008, 04:57 PM Where i live i can posses it at any age just not buy it
soooo if a cop saw a 7 year old smoking a cigarette he would just keep walkin by casually and not do anything
arto-geoff 05-20-2008, 05:49 PM ^thats what its like over here, legal smoking age is 16, but even if 13 year olds are dandering about with cigarretes the cops dont do anything.
McCrank 05-20-2008, 06:26 PM so basically you want to reduce it to 16 because you are 16 now and can't wait to smoke and drink legally.
18 is the way to go. 18 to drive drink and smoke.
blankboard42 05-21-2008, 10:24 PM soooo if a cop saw a 7 year old smoking a cigarette he would just keep walkin by casually and not do anything
he would mention its bad but coodnt do **** lol
Ford Prefect 05-22-2008, 06:54 PM i think the drinking age should be 18 like it was in the 80s.
the issue is drunk driving. especially in teens who only recently began driving. but the United States has fully embraced the car and its almost impossible to go anywhere without a car unless you live in a dense urban area.
Merging doublepost
there's also in a really dumb curfew in my area that people under 16 have to be at home by 11 or you'll get a traffic ticket(if you're in a car). Virginian traffic tickets are heavy as hell. like $600 for a speeding ticekt.
Madison 05-23-2008, 09:14 PM For the sake of uniformity, why not 18? Voting, fighting for your country, smoking, and drinking should all be decisions that an 18 year old can make...After all, how does society expect an 18 year old to be entirely responsible for his/her own actions and then disregard the decision-making process in some respects? At the age of 16, parents still have legal guardianship-and I'm pretty sure they'd be opposed to their child smoking and drinking legally (even if they are already doing it regardless of our ever so effective laws ). Legalizing something is, in essence, condoning it and that will surely lead to an uproar of debates. I think when someone is no longer a minor, he/she should be allowed to decide what's best in regards to smoking and drinking among other things.
kr3wdude59 05-23-2008, 09:30 PM Here in the US or maybe just Jersey, it's not illegal to smoke the tobacco, just to buy it.

ha i live in jersey too and i knew you couldent buy it but i didnt know about the smoking it part... i jsut learned something new today :icon_bigg ! (but i donot smoke)
phlap 05-25-2008, 07:03 PM ^thats what its like over here, legal smoking age is 16, but even if 13 year olds are dandering about with cigarretes the cops dont do anything.
Because it's legal, Look closely at the signs man
"It is illegal to SELL tobacco products to under 16's"
So it's the shop breaking the law, not the 13 year old victim of society.
sk8rz_4_life 05-30-2008, 05:29 PM If you lower it that means younger people can get to it faster and 16 year olders arn't always the brightest I know I'm not (I'm 15) but yeah what if your taking a drag and you put it down in the ash tray not finished and your 7 year old sister walks in and has saw you doing it millions of times before and she looks up to you....takes a drag instent addiction soon enough. Also, I don't want my friends dieing quicker then they will all ready and if you leave it like it is then I have an extra 2 years chillin with my peeps.
BTW I was talking about the smoking part!
Ibanez 06-02-2008, 01:22 AM Sounds like you 16 year olds need someone like me that will hook up under agers with bones and oil as long as you pay for it, just nothing camel or marboro. Why must they make it sound like their **** is a fast food menu, "give me a box of camel full flavored number 7s. or give me a box of 100 marboro 72s" Do like Newports real simple: light, meduim, menthol and have a hard pack of normal size or 120s or soft pack of normal and 120s.
But I heard its illegal to buy that for minors but I don't get it if you can have it when you 16 just not buy them why not lower the age!

Pathetic? More like immature.
I love how kids in other countries drink more maturely than people do over here. It's completely stupid and absurd how some people drink just to throw up (AKA underage drinkers in the US). Seriously, some people do that. I respect kids over here who drink maturely, even if they're under age, it's nice to see that they know when something is too much and don't get pressured to drink a ****load, but if you're going to drink a whole bunch and barf all over the place for "fun", you're completely idiotic.
It wouldn't really change much... The schools would still teach the same thing.
