View Full Version : Holy Books
Tyler Self 05-22-2008, 06:20 PM Come on guys, how can you not be interested in the beliefs of other humans?
Who here has read various books such as these? By this, I mean the Bible, Koran, Tipitaka, etc? What are your favorites? Any favorite stories within these books? Please discuss.
I myself am an avid collecter of these books. I only begun a little while ago, but I have two Bibles, a Koran, and was given a Book of Mormon. I am looking to get a Kabbalah, Zohar, Tipitaka (Buddhism), Śruti (Hinduism), and other various religious texts. Finding a Gospel of Judas or Mary and such wouldn't be too bad either.
I actually bought and read the Koran with the intention of not only learning what I could, but impressing a Muslim girl that sits beside me in a class. It didn't work however. :icon_snif
By the way, if anyone is interested in helping me out with this...i'd be interested too. ;)
I remember a while ago I bought a package of Islamic books from a local Mosque (this was when I was investigating other faiths) and it included a copy of the Qu'ran and two other books (can't remember them, but they're less of a bore than the Quran itself).
I then realized (unfortunately after I bought them) that a website actually mails them out for free. One of my friends who ordered it said they included a Qu'ran and two other books, with pictures, explaining the 5 pillars, etc. I can't remember if they explained the difference between Sunni's and Shi'ites but I can explain it if you want, in laymen terms...
You can order it here:
http://www.freequran.com/html/order.htm
^ Unlike the Evolution CD's I can't verify that these will arrive (I dont see why they wouldn't), nonetheless I told two others about this and they had no problems (and I'm in Canada).
Tyler Self 05-25-2008, 05:39 PM Heheh, I was waiting for you, Brian, or someone to come in here. :P
That's a great find too. Any help in understanding the Koran better works for me. Gonna need to fork up $3.00 from somewheres...
Ibanez 05-29-2008, 10:26 PM Well I did buy the Necronomicon and the satanic bible (for musical intrests). So far their very weird. I feel bad for even buying them really. They count as holy books even though one is followed by the church of satan and the other one, Im not sure who would follow it. Who follows something called "the book of the dead"
FightFlyCrow 05-29-2008, 10:40 PM The Tibeten Book of the Dead and The Annelects from Confusios are both worth a read, so is the Tao-Te Ching.
NativeSkater 05-29-2008, 10:59 PM I read some of Magick Without Tears and The Blue Equinox(both by Aleister Crowley). But I never should've even started because I didn't even understand them. Guess I was just curious.
Tyler Self 05-30-2008, 02:45 PM I've been looking to buy a satanic bible for awhile, but I cannot for my life find one anywhere.
Kayce, do you know anywhere where I could get texts on Buddhism?
Ibanez 05-30-2008, 04:03 PM I've been looking to buy a satanic bible for awhile, but I cannot for my life find one anywhere.
Barnes and Noble is where I bought mine for like $7, to be honest everyone no matter what faith you follow should read it cause it does make up a lot of good points. Teaches you to love those who earn it.
"You can not love everyone; it is ridiculous to think you can. If anything is used too freely it loses its true meaning. Therefore you should love strongly and completely those who deserve your love"
The Bible says to love everyone, well we all know that person that hates us or rubs us the wrong way, right. The Satanic Bible pretty much teaches to say the hell with them, their not the energy to try to get to know and love them. I also read a chapter about sex in it and its straight forth rape is something you shouldn't do, sex is just something to with someone thats willing and once the desire you wanted is done.....just stop. One night stands are a-okay with the black book as long as both people are aware of what they both want and once one of them gets it its over. If the other didn't then now serving number 2.
I really don't see what the big deal people make out of it, nothing evil in it, it just teaches to get what you want out of life by setting your own rules and living with them instead of the commandments of God, which you can still follow.
You all should read the Helping Friendly Book by Icculus.

the two other books of islam i believe are the shariah and sunnah
unalive 06-08-2008, 11:24 PM The Book of Shadows was an interesting read, as was the Satanic Bible. I picked them both up from my school's library. Haha.
Tyler Self 06-09-2008, 07:35 PM Regarding the Tipitaka, looks like that'd be very hard. It being so long, and a lot (I think) hasn't even been translated to English. Wow.
On the other hand, I called up a store and they have 1 satanic bible left. :D
may i interest you in the Ramayan? its an Indian story, thats really important in Hindu society ;)

=Z28= 06-27-2008, 12:11 AM not sure i'd call anything but God, or his word, Holy.. especially a satanic book. Kinda twisted.

not sure i'd call anything but God, or his word, Holy.. especially a satanic book. Kinda twisted.
Thanks for another informative post there Z28, please post more! Just a couple more posts from you and I may consider joining Mensa!

I would like school more if my school was like that. Satanic Bible is the written way life should be lived!

Just because the books are not holy to you, does not mean they are not holy to other people, and religions. I find it fun to read about other religions. You can still be a Christian and learn about other religions. You also, obviously, do not understand that satanism is not the worship of the devil. Its pretty much saying you are your own god, and you make your own rules, but has nothing to do with worshiping Satan or anything else.
^Zeroskater, the difference between you & him is you, at the very least, consider that there are other faiths and beliefs and lifestyles out there.
Z28's brain is apparently lacking the part that constructs "logical thinking" - to him, any other beliefs from his own are wicked...just as Hitler thought, the 9/11 hijackers thought, and Bin Laden believe.
jeff65 06-30-2008, 01:08 AM I downloaded the satanic bible and chucked it on my mp3 player and read it on transport and sometimes at night.
Its actually surpisingly good. Its not 'burn cats and become a witch' its really really, a good read.
You can download it from www.megadownload.net (which i think is half down at the moment). just search bible pdf or satanic bible.

Like your mind, which has been oh so warped beyond the point of no return.
I just skimmed through the satanic bible, it makes some good points.
