OK, so I downlo..."bought" this program called EyeQ and apparently it's main goal is to help you improve your reading skills, so far I'm on session 7 and it _does_ seem to be working, sort of...

I want to know if anyone else has tried it and what their results are? Lots of people seem to think it's working, certainly some parts of the program ARE helpful (ie: word find, maze, etc). Here's where I'm skeptical:

• First off, I don't know if this program is helping me read faster or move my eyes quicker (or both). There is a difference between reading quickly and understanding everything. If all I'm doing is training my eyes to move quicker then it'd be equivalent to training a police officer move his head around like a lunatic at a scene of a crime, it's just useless. If you can't understand what you're seeing than it doesnt matter if you're up to 1500 wpm, in the end you're doing yourself no good.

• For anyone who does have the program, do you notice something "strange" about the pre-session and post-session scripts they test you with? For one, and I may be paranoid, but I think I'm noticing the pre-session scripts having words that are more difficult to enunciate (ie: ingenuity) as opposed to the post-session ones which I seem to fly through (maybe it's because I just did the exercises?)

If anyone else wants to try it let me know, I think their website has a demo up a well ( http://www.infmind.com/ )

Hold on, Razz, you're the last guy I'd expect to need reading lessons.
What's going on?

EDIT: I took the short test, apparently I can read 465 words per minute.

It's mainly to improve reading speed as I understand it. Not a hooked on phonics type thing.

I'm quite sure Razz can read just fine.

That's interesting you think it may be manipulated to make you think you're reading faster. Reading college level scholarly stuff first versus some Dr. Seuss afterwards, of course you'll read faster!

I'll let you know in a few weeks after I have some time to try it out. There are people who can read ridiculously fast AND still know what they are reading, so it can't be a complete scam, right? Makes sense that it could be a learned ability.

It improves your speed, not (lack-of) comprehension

Ahh, what's the advantage, surely anything over say... 200 needs no improvement?

I'm not sure what the advantage is, but I had to do it back in middle school. Its supposed to up your reading speed and (if you're doing it right) comprehension. Its weird, the way I learned it there was a little machine that auto-scrolled these short essays you put in.

I started reading at about 380 wmp, I'm up to about 500 wmp now...apparently "testimonials" have had people up to 1400, surely many of these are bullsh*t, but I'm sure people improve.

It might help with your ability to recognize the letters and words quicker; I don't know if you could comprehend it at that rate though.
