Boston radio mainstay Howie Carr (WRKO AM) was doing his drive-time show last night on weird town by-laws and how people can be discriminated against without even knowing it. While the subject was lighthearted at best, I took it as an opportunity to get live on the air and get my two cents in about what's going on at Ipswich River Park in North Reading (two downs from where I live).

The main gripe is that the IRP has (among other things), a tennis court, basketball court and rink for in-line skating. It also has a skate park, but it's usually infested with people in-lining, bmx'ing and rollerblading. The real pissah is that they just hung signs all over the place saying stuff like "Tennis Court for Tennis Use ONLY! Report Violations to the Park Service!" Same sign with the in-line park. Nothing...not a word...is said on the skate park sign and I've seen at least a half dozen people eating sh*t when someone not skating gets in their way. So I got on the air and spread the word that skateboarders, young and old alike are being cast aside. I even had one guy at work say heard me and I sounded great.

That's a really cool idea, man.
Glad your getting up and doing something for the skaters instead of just complaining.
