View Full Version : make-a-wish story
LukEASY 05-28-2008, 09:24 PM There's this kid who's in 8th grade who has cancer and sadly isn't doing too good. He used to skate when he was more able and he loves skating. So, I'm pretty sure it was the make-a-wish foundation, but anyways, if not it was someone just writing a letter, Dave Bachinsky, and Pat D'onfro from Shape came to see him at his school and it was really touching, not going to lie. He was so excited and I'm glad he got to experience that. I feel so bad for the kid, it really sucks. I didn't really know him all that well, but that's irrelevant. I respect them [bachinsky and d'onfro] a lot now for coming out to see him, they could've just written him or something but they actually went to his school, then hospital [because he wasn't feeling well enough to go to school that day] to see him.
Not trying to be inconsiderate, but we got to skate with them later on in the day at a few local spots, it was sick. He's insanely good, and it's really funny because I'm way taller than him, he's probably only like 5'3".
Assassin1 05-28-2008, 09:35 PM That was a very nice thing they did, hope things get better for the kid, nice to hear you got to skate with them.
ndib0804 05-28-2008, 09:36 PM thats pretty cool dude... that kid deserved it!

they gave him an estimated time of a month, and that was 3 weeks ago :'[
Skaterbabe15 05-28-2008, 09:42 PM :O
omggg.
That is soooo sad.
Elemental106 05-28-2008, 09:43 PM the make-a-wish-foundation never fails to touch my heart. It does so many good things for those who have unfortunate diseases. I even cry at some of the things I see because sometimes seeing another kid's dream come true makes me feel like my dream came true too.

WOW! that is so crazy and unfair for this kid. I hate to see kids being sick and dying because they have so much more left to live for. That's really awesome that he got his wish, though. Hopefully he'll beat the odds or at least make it longer than they estimated.

xXSkater14Xx 05-28-2008, 10:41 PM aww poor kid. glad he got to meet them though. hope he gets better. :[
kflip2curbstomp 05-28-2008, 11:46 PM that was a really cool thing for them to do, but it also seems kinda unfair to the kid cuz he was probly like twitching to go skate
AthleteSK8 05-28-2008, 11:53 PM Aww man, I feel sad for the kid, having cancer at such a young age. I'm very happy to see that they would go to meet him though, very touching.
heartagram695 05-29-2008, 12:12 AM that really sucks...my only hope for him is that there is a skatepark wherever he goes when he dies.

Heaven is a half pipe :P
evanGR 05-29-2008, 04:12 AM I definitely show all my respect to the Make-a-Wish foundation.
This weekend the foundation comes over to Belgium to organize a marathon for kids with certain problems.
I AM RUNNING IT.

Good point. It sucks so much when someone so young goes... they have so much to live for.
