Hi im quite new to ramp skating and Ive only just learnt rock fakies, fakie rocks and tail taps. So I was thinking about trying tail stalls but I cant get my board to stay up on the coping!
Any help will be appreciated!

make sure you have enough speed & when your truck/wheels almost hit the coping, push the tail down firmly & lean backwards (shift your weight to the tail). at the same time that you push the tail down, bend your knee of the other leg (the one on the nose) .
you'll end up in the same position that you take, just before dropping in.
1) enough speed
2) make sure your tail is higher than the coping (wheels almost connect with coping)
3) puch tail down (at this point you bend your front knee)& keep weight on it
thats pretty much it imo

It took me so long to learn them properly. Really you've got to have a really good amount of speed.
Shift all your body weight past the coping and onto the deck of the ramp.
Just like throw your body weight up to the top you may find this forces your front foot off the board and onto the deck when first learning.

Just look back and when you see the coping come near you board just take your weight off the front foot and push down on the tail, it's all about timing really, practice should be the key.

Thanks guys ill learn this when I next go to the park!
You could try what I did, do a tailstall and add in a nosegrab to hold you up a little longer to get used to being up there longer. Also when you do a nosegrab with your tailstall it makes it look somewhat more interesting :P

I'd say its a helluva lot scarier to add a nosegrab in there. For me I know it would be. But just try and get good speed and lean all the way back, put all yer weight in the back.
Really? I learned to add a nosegrab literally 10 minutes after i learned to at least tap the tail to the coping. And it helped me build up my tail tap to a tail stall.
It's not difficult, at all. Unless Im just that good :D

Main thing is, totally shift your way back onto the tail, and pretend like you're just dropping in again...
Oh yeah, and that nose-grab sounds sick! I'm def gonna try that one...
