View Full Version : Casper to Casper Coryd55 05-29-2008, 10:54 PM Can someone explain to me how to do one or point me towards a trick tip or video. Thanks arling777 05-29-2008, 10:58 PM Casper to Nose Casper/Switch casper or The kind where the board ends up where it starts? Coryd55 05-29-2008, 11:00 PM Okay: Get into a casper(however which way you please) and then do something not sure what it is. Like you flip the board and land in the same casper position. 56 seconds into this video youtube.com/watch?v=1U-cgn3cEGA arling777 05-29-2008, 11:42 PM I can do the other kind consistently, and I'm working on the kind you want to do but I'm not quite there. I hope no one will criticize me for giving advice anyway. Get comfortable with caspers, so you can get in and out of them without straining a ton. Once you are, it just takes time to get used to the flip. The motion to do the flip basically involves putting your foot thats on the tail closer to the toe side of the board, with your weight on the ball of your toe. Then pull up/across your body with your front foot while lightly kicking inward with your back foot...then get your feet to where the board will end up before it gets there and catch. There's no big secret, just time. Now I have to land one tomorrow though:icon_bigg. Coryd55 05-29-2008, 11:50 PM So basically you are lifting the board with your front foot and scooping/turning the board with the foot on the tail. Then repositioning your feet under/over into the casper position? arling777 05-30-2008, 12:02 AM It's kind of hard to describe in terms you could use for other regular flip tricks. The board is basically doing a varial flip back into casper and the shuv it motion can come partly from the front foot too. You really just have to start trying them. I'd recommend trying casper to rail first probably too. Coryd55 05-30-2008, 12:21 AM Alright. I'll see what I can come up with. I'll get a video and slo mo it. Over and over again haha. Callum Bowran 05-30-2008, 05:59 AM If you scoop through the board with the back foot rather than behind you it gives you more time to get your front foot back under the board. Geo 05-30-2008, 07:54 AM it is a very hard trick to learn but it is fun when you can land it Coryd55 05-30-2008, 11:12 AM Thanks for the tips. About to go try it now. Minihub 05-30-2008, 12:27 PM I just cannot get my feet back in. Either my board is too fast or I'm too slow. I don't really want to know which... arling777 05-30-2008, 01:20 PM ^I'd prefer my board be too fast, personally. I have the same problem but its just my front foot. I CANNOT get it under the board in time. I guess I'm going to have to keep at this one for a while. bbengyak 05-30-2008, 01:37 PM ^I had that problem when I was learning them. Two things you can do, either just really concentrate on getting your foot under the board when practicing or hold the board up higher with your front foot before the flip. That's how I get the board to land at a higher angle for casper to trucks so I would think it would help for giving more space to get your front foot under the board. Tonino 05-30-2008, 02:48 PM On begin, its quite difficult to jump, flip and return to casper without touch the ground, but after you learn its easy trick... now for me its so easy, but at begin i have some problems to jump and dont touch the ground, but its easy trick after you learn arling777 05-30-2008, 03:14 PM I was trying to hold the board up higher at the beginning of the flip and that's when I was getting closest I think. arling777 05-31-2008, 07:42 PM I got two really sketchy ones today and I thought I wasn't going to pull it off but I ended up getting a decent one. Take Brian's advice about lifting the board up higher at the beginning and take Callum's advice about scooping through the board (scoop towards the front wheel closest to your leg, as opposed to backwards). Coryd55 05-31-2008, 08:20 PM Alright. Tried it a few times. I got half of the flip so i need to jump higher kick harder and work on getting the foot under again. arling777 05-31-2008, 08:46 PM I probably did it 200 times before I got one...you really got commit to it. Don't get discouraged, that number may or may not be a gross exaggeration. I've never really counted. It would be interesting to count how long (in attempts) it takes me to learn a given trick though. lamefreestyler 06-03-2008, 12:24 PM this trick is insanely hard. I just CAN'T get my front foot under in time. The flip is "perfect" most of the times however... MGokey 06-03-2008, 01:06 PM hook with the front foot, and scoop with the back foot. you also need to remember to jump so the board has time to rotate. i do mine a little wierd...but heres a decent angle that shows the scoop and catch. http://youtube.com/watch?v=TN7oMOt6Gbk (the casper to casper is at 00:57) just keep practicing. if you can already flip it, you'll have it soon. arling777 06-03-2008, 01:17 PM Matt, yours are awesome! If you can't get your foot back under in time, start with the nose as high up as you can (and still comfortably flip it), and make sure you actually jump. Once you figure out how to make the board flip with the nose high enough to get your foot back under, just start anticipating where the board will land. This might mean jumping slighlty backward, rotating your body backside etc. |
