View Full Version : i hit my head
Zeroskater14 05-30-2008, 11:49 AM About 50 minutes ago I was skating and i fell and hit my head on a table i was using as a manny pad and i saw stars and was dizzy and my head was cut and bleeding. I was wondering what i should do. i got it to stop bleeding.
I have a headache now and am slightly dizzy. I am also really tired. I was just wondering if i should do anything else about. Thanks.
xXSkater14Xx 05-30-2008, 12:03 PM Umm, your parents home? If not go to your neighbors. Ask them to take you to the doctor or hospital if its bad. Or call your parents and see what you should do, if your home alone go to someones house. or call someone. if everything starts turning black like your gonna pass out bend over so blood can get to your head so you don't pass out.
TRY YOUR HARDEST NOT TO FALL ASLEEP! You could have a concussion.
Zeroskater14 05-30-2008, 12:10 PM i called my mom. my sister was home. i dont think i need to go to the doctor.
i just feel tired and my head hurts
xXSkater14Xx 05-30-2008, 12:12 PM Oh, well don't fall asleep. how olds your sister? and what did your mom say?
Zeroskater14 05-30-2008, 12:13 PM my sister is 13. my mom said to put a rag on it to stop the bleeding. she will be home soon
xXSkater14Xx 05-30-2008, 12:14 PM oh, well just try not to fall asleep is probably the main thing.
Zeroskater14 05-30-2008, 12:15 PM why should i not fall asleep? thanks for the help
xXSkater14Xx 05-30-2008, 12:18 PM Because if you have a concussion ,my parents told me me this btw, you could not wake up.
Street>Vert 05-30-2008, 12:19 PM you could have a concussion and it's good to stay awake for a few hours before trying to sleep because it could cause some problems... that's just what i've been told when i got my concussion
Zeroskater14 05-30-2008, 12:20 PM ok i wont, my girlfriend told me that too. im talking to her now.
sk8rz_4_life 05-30-2008, 12:26 PM Just chill it will most likly heal on its own dude wait it out and if you really think its "that" bad then you would have all ready been at the hospitle if it was that bad you would have found a way.
Zeroskater14 05-30-2008, 12:29 PM ok thanks im fine now. im not really tired anymore.
Street>Vert 05-30-2008, 01:01 PM skate with a helmet?
Edwin 05-30-2008, 01:09 PM go to hospital?
Madison 05-30-2008, 01:12 PM Medical attention is certainly necessary in this situation. Everyone's right, you should definitely not fall asleep. Just stay calm. I hope your mom gets there soon and everything turns out okay. :icon_bunc
EDIT: Did she not consider calling an ambulance?
Minihub 05-30-2008, 01:40 PM Yeah trust us man, your brain is one part of you you dont want messed up. Trust me. I've done it way too much, and it means I now can't get that mohawk because my bald head would be an odd shape. But off topic : Seriously go to hospital, you could have internal bleeding and not even know. Thats maybe over dramatic, but you never can be too careful.
Sorry I'm just reading that, and I've not helped at all:icon_bunc

jesus, it's not THAT bad, it's only a cut and a bumped head. If he got knocked out, then he would need to go to hospital for possible concusion, but he was only dizzy.
I fell 10 foot and landed on my head and got knocked out for a min with lots of bleeding, and I didn't have concusion.
Derrick14 05-30-2008, 01:47 PM Is the poor baby ookaayyy???
jk, I'm sure its nothing if you can talk about it on the internet.

Actually, it can be progressive. He could possibly be alert and communicating coherently one minute and end up with signs of an altered mental status the next. Your injury cannot be compared to his because everyone's body does not respond in the exact same way to trauma. He shouldn't risk it, internal bleeding is a possibility even when someone is asymptomatic. Bottom line is, I would never risk it...It's not a leg, it's your brain which controls numerous bodily functions. Hopefully, his injury is not severe.
Paul J 05-30-2008, 02:22 PM But seriously, you shouldn't waste an ambulance for something like that.

Yeah Maddie, ambulances are used for something more serious =/... His mom or some random person can just drive him to the ER or something. So go to the ER. (ER = Emergency Room)
Hit on the head major can cause swelling of the brain if there happens to be a edged object that kinda slit into the cut on the head deeply. Which means you can basically die...but I doubt that you will, I was just saying.
Madison 05-30-2008, 02:57 PM If his mother was unable to reach him in a timely manner, an ambulance would not have been out of the question. Protocol for this type of injury is not part of the Emergency Medical Technician curriculum for nothing. I've seen these kind of ambulance runs first hand, and I know that this type of call would not be considered a waste-at least not in my state.
I say that assuming that he's now being taken care of.
Chz02 05-30-2008, 03:20 PM skate with a helmet?
zero, you seem to be accident prone. this is the best suggestion so far.:icon_wink

I worked on the ER team at my local hospital for volunteer. Cuts in the head over here aren't major serious, we make sure to get aid to them immediately if code blue. However, attention for casual, minor cuts in the cranium area is also taken at a quicker pace than other injuries, but none of them really resulted in death. There's not been many cases of code blue though..or even worse...code purple, not that code purple relates to this topic
sskatess 05-30-2008, 04:22 PM No one besides the original poster knows how bad the head injury was so it's hard to judge whether or not an ambulance was needed, although better safe than sorry.
Zyklun 05-30-2008, 05:29 PM Definitely a concussion, I've had too many of them. Stay awake and see a doctor, most likely its just a minor one, and they will just tell you to take some advil and stay off your feet for a day, but it could be serious (a concussion is your brain swelling against your skull) see a doctor for sure though.
Paul J 05-30-2008, 05:33 PM I'm not sure if I had concussion now. I had to stay in the hospital over night, and they had to check my blood pressure and pupils and stuff every hour of the night. I think it was serious though, I could have died apparently.
Enjoi2 05-30-2008, 08:11 PM I hit my head ollieng off a curb a few years ago ,,,,,, I was bleeding and dizzy,, I never got it checked out,,but im pretty sure I had a concussion because it hurt for weeks.

big big big 05-30-2008, 08:18 PM helmets yall, my mother makes me wear a helmet and pads, she wont allow me to leave the house unless i have them on and she looks out the window constantly to make sure i dont take them off.
cha-BANG 05-30-2008, 08:24 PM Well, as mentioned above, better safe than sorry, dude i hope you get better, i've been fortunate never to hit my head, i don't wear a helmet, just a hat (sometimes). i dont skate sets much though, just small ones, 1-5. skatebaker22 05-30-2008, 10:54 PM haha, another thread where someone gets hurt, and what do they do? go post a thread on skaterscafe about it asking for help instead of getting medical attention.
Coryd55 05-30-2008, 10:58 PM Schools out dude.
