I have to agree with dodge on this one, however you have some pretty unique ideas which I like.

What he means is keep your dirty feet off the floor.

My feet only went on the floor for the crappy old school kickflip after the casper trick and on the handflip.
And i finding it a ***** 2 learn tricks like truckstands, pogo, butterflip and that so i just been learning more rail tricks.

I thought it was pretty good.

More variation would be nice instead of mostly railstand tricks.

Never let your feet touch the ground on caspers...ever, ever, ever, ever, a million times ever.

...and instead of stepping on the ground, jumping up and doing an underflip, learn to do real old school flips.

Otherwise it's a good start.

Yeah you can do old school kickflips by putting pressure on the side of the board above one of the front wheels. No need to tuck your foot under ;)

Good video though, It's hard for you to get rail tricks clean probably because you're on a street board and the trucks and wheels arn't right. Join bfgos! it will get you to learn new tricks :):D

arling777
05-31-2008, 04:58 PM
^Actually, thats incorrect. You do old school flips by standing in the middle of the board with your feet parallel and toes facing the nose. You then hook your toes and some of your foot underneath the edge of the board, jump and pull up.

I do a flip trick like you described, though. Except I do them while doing a 360.

Yer i need 2 clean that casper up.
And for the old school flip at the end it really didnt need 2 be left in.
But i will take in mind wot u have said.
And Dodge u say this "this is why people think freestyle is a joke..."
With no reason why u think this so go on explain............

At the end? I'm talking about the thing at about 24 seconds

...oh and try not to touch your thighs when you're standing in rail. It doesn't look good.

YOu have some nice rail to rail stuff going on there, try to keep your feet off the ground when you do caspers... but you already know that
and what msi song is that? ive never heard it

You know you said its hard to learn stuff like pogo's butterflips and truckstands thats beacuse you ahve to practice them its not going to happen over night you just have to keep working at them.

My feet only went on the floor for the crappy old school kickflip after the casper trick and on the handflip.
I don't give a damn what your feet 'only' went on the floor for, they shouldn't be there at all. Either learn to do the tricks properly or don't put them in a video.

And Dodge u say this "this is why people think freestyle is a joke..."
With no reason why u think this so go on explain............
He doesn't need to explain, it's pretty obvious. People see videos like that and take it as freestyle; excuse me for coming over all purist, but I do not want to be associated with a discipline of cheated and poorly landed tricks..

You've still got things to work on and my guess is that you know that. :) Good start though. As others have said you have some good rail work. Just work on cleaning things up some and adding more variety.

The song is of MSI new album IF.
And all i can say 2 callum is i will clean my freestyle up in future before filming it, making shore i never touch the floor.

wtf is your problem? you're being really harsh to him, look at yourself. seriously.

You're being a bit stuck up about this, just because he's not landing stuff as clean as you can, you treat it as not freestyle. If your gonna give him critisism, then be possitive about it, c'mon man.

Sure, it's a bit harsh but I would think that it's justified. Freestyle is a small discipline of skating and I'm sure Callum takes pride in the fact that he skates it and with that in mind I'm sure he would not want a poor representation of freestyle with a video with tricks where a person's foot touches the floor on plenty of tricks. I've heard plenty of times ignorant people say things like "every trick in freestyle is done with your foot on the ground" or "freestyle is easy little flatland tricks." Where do you things like that come from? People getting horrible first impressions from poorly made videos such as the above. Personally, when I make a serious video part or montage I make it a top priority to make sure everything is landed cleanly and they are tricks that I am proud of and is a good representation of my skating. Those are two standards I feel most people should hold themselves to.

It wasn't a serious montage for a start. He's a begginer, you can't expect him to be amazing and give a good impression for freestyle, he only wanted some advice.

And for another thing, callum just posted a video of himself which was basically the same and HE put his foot on the ground for most of his tricks, hippocrit?

Now, if he's done this for a joke, which I sure do hope he hasn't, then that is a really horrible thing to do.

bbengyak
06-01-2008, 11:30 AM
No one is asking him to be amazing. Sure, he can ask for advice and it wasn't a serious part but I still believe it is not much of a hassle to hold themselves to those to standards I pointed out before.

As for Callum's video, horrible? Maybe. Hilarious? Definitely!

Did he come along and mock you on purpose? no. Did callum mock him on purpose? yes.

There's no need to lie. And stop putting words in his mouth, he said nothing of that.

Jesus you guys are having a fiesta. If you feel that this guy has done wrong, don't be all like "OMG DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN OR ELSE YOU'RE LAME! YOU'RE SUCH A DISGRACE TO US FREESTYLERS!" because you gotta chill out and maybe teach him some things to improve on technique and skill. OOOor provide info that lets him know what's freestyle and what's not instead of just degrading the dude.
He could grow up to be the best.

when your filming a video there should be no sketch.
Take the time to get it right and clean on film.
Dont make freestyle look lamer than it already is!

that's a cool video, I like your rail combos (I SUCK at rail flips) and since you were doing the combos on a street board, it's like 5 000 000 000 times harder to balance! a word of advice: get a freestyle board, it will be the best investment you will EVER make!

and plus, don't listen to Callum or anybody who says you shouldn't be making videos or anything, posting videos on here is a good way to get constructive criticism..usually..just not today for some reason lol

Please treat people the way you would like to be treated, expecially those who are asking for your comments and/or advice....thanks!!

it's like 5 000 000 000 times harder to balance! a word of advice: get a freestyle board

Thats so not true, people like Gunter and Rodney skate street boards all the time and they are at the top. Whats up with everyone thinking that freestyle is so much easier on a street deck.

arling777
06-02-2008, 09:40 AM
Gunter probably uses offset wheels and trucks that are closer to flush with the rail.

Rodney Mullen is an alien.

(correct me if I'm wrong on the first one, I just assumed).

Callum Bowran

06-02-2008, 10:03 AM
Yeah but dont rodney and gunter use off set wheels???

Callum Bowran
06-02-2008, 12:42 PM
Guenter does, I don't know about Rodney. Apparantly he was using the Oust metal hub 'Brain Spiders' for round three, so I guess not...

Erwin
06-02-2008, 01:52 PM
Last time I saw Gunter skate he didnt even have offset wheels, maybey because he doenst do a lot of rail tricks anyway. But aside from that, my point stands evenmore, using a street board wont make things harder (in general) like people seem to thing and a freestlye board isnt a magical shape that makes freestyle tricks easy.

Note:
oops i meant to say freestyle board offcourse in my previous post..

Toad_Freestyle
06-02-2008, 03:25 PM
when i get my fs board ill do a comparison. street board v fs board for freestyle. pointless..... but im boredd :P
