View Full Version : what wheels is everyone using?

as the title says, I'm looking to try out some new wheels for bowl/vert.
I always used rat bones in the past & am using new bones atm, but they stink (I thought they would, but I wanted to try em out), the wear off way to fast. cubics are great too.

so what is everyone riding?

no-one use autobahns? You'd be surprised =). I was also surprised about you saying the new bones wheels stink. I've read many reviews about them, most of them about the DTF's, and about how good they are. You probably got the SPF's right? People were complaining about slipping out every now and then...

Not sure whether you will find them where you are Mazonemayu, but an Australian company called Kewday have been making some pretty nice series called Retro.

- I tried to post the URL here for you, but it wouldn't let me. Just do a search for Kewday, click on the "products", then the "wheels" tab.

Personally, I don't think you will get anything as good as the old G-Bones, but these are pretty sweet.

Wow...my heart gave a little jump just then...! They bring a nostalgic resonance! These were my first ever proper skate wheels. Except in green. I had them on an original blue Powell Hawkskull fishtail with Indys and god knows what bearings.

Sick find!

I can order heaps of old school stuff actually, but it's not really worth stocking in the shop.

Although I wouldn't mind getting a few of those old Powell and Screaming Hand shirts. They are cool.

I have four boards, so I have four different wheels

Pig Flex: RETRO ZIGZAG 66mm
Jay Adams Z-Flex: Bull Dog Skates ?
PP Frankie Hill Bulldog: Z-flex Wheels 62mm 78a
SMA Stigmata: CLASSIC 76mm

I just went skateboarding awhile ago, and took a tumble. I got up, checked out my board. When looking at the wheels, I noticed on the Pig Z-flex the Zig Zag wheel had a rather large piece of rubber missing from the inside of the wheel.

I don't think I hit something to cut off the rubber. I have a feeling it's a defective wheel. Got a nice rasberry on my calf, even though I was padded from knees to head.

Sucks an egg.

Since returning to skating I stated out with 58mm Pocket Pistols (too hard). Then went to some 58mm Cortech wheels, (loved them).

Heard heaps of good press about the bones SPF 60mm wheels (not bad), however I have gone back the Cortechs, as I feel they offer my grip and better ride all round.

Also swear by Rainskates Tsanami 59mm. Its a soft wheel that I think works perfectly on steel surfaces.

Spitfire is incredibly overrated.
They suck.
Heavy, they chip easily, and I, the guy who can barely powerslide, flatspotted a pair.
They ended up at like 38mm from 54mm in about a month.
These autobahns took about 3 months to wear down.
