View Full Version : Freestyle TRUCKS reviews
Dog4life 06-01-2008, 05:58 AM Would be usefull to discuss about different trucks on the market for FS.
UP Trucks: I was really happy with those , absolutely awesome. Light, pogo pad and perfect for 7.25 decks.
Unfortunately after about 6 months, they are half broken between the baseplate and hanger. . . Probably because now it's almost 25 degress and more over here, and with extreme heat they act bad.
Fulltracks: Good truck, except i always brake the baseplate and pogo pains.
Bullet trucks 106 : i gonna try them today. they look almost identical to the fulltracks.
I would be interest to know how the grind king minis are for FS ? or other good alternatives.
lamefreestyler 06-01-2008, 06:27 AM Tracker fultracks:
MY GOD MY KNEE, the kingpin digs into your knee and leave you with bruises, the bushings that come with them are even worse, they're cr**p really. But I've ordered some new bushings and Grindking kingpins to turn them into awesome trucks (or that's what I hope).
so if you order tracker trucks, make sure you buy some new bushings and if you want to spare your knee you might want to buy some inverted kingpins.
EDIT: This is my experience with them so far, they're also quite heavy. I will be getting the new stuff in about 2 weeks, I'll come back and review them once more then.
MGokey 06-01-2008, 08:51 AM Indy 109s, what a heavenly truck.
i must agree 100%. light, good turning geometry (but mine are tight as hell anyways) and they just look hella good!
callum dont you have something like 5 pairs??? :icon_drib
Callum Bowran 06-01-2008, 08:53 AM Indy 109's are beautiful. The hanger's wonderfully designed, it's just so easy and comfortable to get your hand around it for sidewinders and the likes, and there are no uneven or sharp edges to worry about.
In reference to the turning geometry, being a stereotypical freestyler I wouldn't know, but as they're used for slalom trucks aswell I imagine it's pretty good.
For me, their best feature is their width. With a fulltrack, when your board goes much below 7 1/4", rail starts to become a little unstable. Because you have to have a fair few washers behind the wheels on 109's in order to get to 7 1/4", as the width decreases you can just take off more washers.
Their only downside I guess is that the inside ring is quite easy to snap, but then again I've never had a freestyle truck that's not broken on me so I guess breaking's just a problem in all trucks.
Here's to hoping the ACE trucks (ex co-owner of Indy's new company) I ordered will be very much the same, just a little more durable!

I used to have five pairs... I bought Outlook's last pair, and I bought out the last Witter had aswell when I heard they were discontinuing them. As of now, I have a one pair with a spare hanger, then after two hangers have gone, that's my love affair with the 109's over :(
smallskaterkid 06-01-2008, 01:40 PM i got some bullet trucks and there great
Callum Bowran 06-01-2008, 02:22 PM Can you expand on that a little? What's great about them, sizes etc.

Well they fit my size 7 x 27.5 perfectly but could also fit boards up to 7.3
They are very stong and the kingpin doesnt dig into your leg as much as other trucks

i guess you are riding your first fs setup . . . . .
I have the bullets, and they are pretty the same as the Fulltracks, except the hanger is a bit lower and come with better bushings.
Anyway soon as i can I will change the bushing of my bullets, and get extra riser pads.... For the kingpin i put just some tape on it.
The Up trucks where wonderfull talking about stability in rail ecc.

Yeah i am riding my first fs setup
im a bit of a novice :)
arling777 06-01-2008, 04:25 PM I'm not too picky about gear but here goes...
UP TRUCKS: They turn just fine, they're light, and I didn't have any problems with damage over the 5ish months that I rode them. I liked them a lot when I was riding them but then I switched to gk minis, I went back to try the up trucks again and I didn't really like them. They seemed to bounce off of the floor...or something like that that I can't remember.
GK MINIS: I really like this truck. No issue with the weight, the kingpin doesn't hurt b/c it is inverted, and it turns fine to my liking. I didn't really miss the lack of the pogo pad that the up trucks had either. The only beef I have is THE BUSHINGS!!!!!!!!! I tried a few different pairs and the stock ones suck, and none of the other bushings fit properly! I ended up having to shave down a pair of B!tch bushings and stuck with that.

Indy 109's for $80....geeez.
Zak Kimball 06-03-2008, 03:47 PM What about the ace 00...
has anybody tried them? they have a 3 7/8" hanger, thats almost like the 109's
If anyone has experience with them please share. im thinking of trying them myself.
Callum Bowran 06-03-2008, 04:24 PM Pretty sure the 00's are too thin, kind of like the tracker midtracks. I've got a set of ACE 11's on my way to me, so I'll post a review once i've tried them.
Edit - Just measured, 109's have a hanger width of 4 7/8", so the closest size to them are the 11's which are 4 1/2"
Zak Kimball 06-03-2008, 04:45 PM well, on the ace website (http://www.acetruckmfg.com/) They say that the 00 has a 3 7/8" hanger and it says to add 2 1/2" for axle width. That adds up to 6 3/8" which, if I am not mistaken, is 1/8" thinner than the 109's. It might just be that ace trucks have long axles.
Let us know what you think after you get them though.
Callum Bowran 06-03-2008, 05:02 PM Well, I wish I'd have bothered to pay attention to that earlier... 6 3/8" sounds alot nicer than 7" trucks. Luckily I'm using Bones Freestyle I's, which are pretty much flush with the axle.

it happens to the best of us...
I wonder why it never happens to me?
