I went down to Pike County in Kentucky to visit my cousins (I live in Morehead of Rowan County, KY), and I brought this $20 board I bought at Walmart. It was a Mongoose Board. Well, I go over to his house, and he is showing me all this stuff on his Birdhouse board. Well, on my last day there, He told me I could have it, since he quit using it. I was happy, because Birdhouse boards are pretty high quality and expensive. And, I was happy. In order, here are the list of boards history for me:
had a fake board
bought a fake board
borrowed a real board
gave back real board
bought real board
gave away fake board
got pro board
quit riding real board

hahaaha it will be good for you to learn on it but then after that your going to have to get a better board because birdhouse is ok but in my opinion isnt the best

birdhouse is meh. good for learning and vert, but not really the highest quality. you can get better decks for the same price

birdhouses are pretty strong but i personally dont really like them. it does feel good though to get your first good board.

Seriously, what the hell is with you people... So you stereotype the whole brand, and even though it has tons of street riders, only a few 'vert' riders, you still call it a vert board. Its obviously not and you are all being 'biased' by the bad hype. All boards have a different shape. All birdhouse decks are not made for vert... Thats one of the stupidest mis-conceptions that I've ever heard. God damn. Brands have different shape, you may like ANY of the brands' shape. Why knock out Birdhouse because you ASSUME that it is a vert board. I personally liked the shape for awhile, and now found one that I like better. Foundation.

I think I may be able to help in this conversation for I have been skating a birdhouse for 2 months.
This was my first board and I've learned how to pop shove-it and BS 180 on it. Is it the best board? No. Is it a horrible-only for vert board? The board is pretty dense due to it's 6 ply build (with one extra thick ply) It's pretty durable, and pretty heavy also. It has a nice concave and I can ollie pretty well on it. It's lost all of its pop on the tail, in 2 months skating 4 hours a day. I'm not sure but I guess that's a pretty long time for it to last.
Birdhouse's don't fail, they aren't only for vert. They're fine boards, just not the best.

ZOMG I don't like the shape of Black Label decks so it MUST be a pool rider board because I know a pool rider on that team.

You don't know from personal experience, your saying what you 'know' from your personal experience outweighs EVERYONE elses. Even though there are even some on the forum that love birdhouse. There are alot of pros and ams that love their boards too. And they are not 'vert' riders...

Unless your calling miniramp/quarterpipe riding, VERT. Which it is NOT. Then you a complete fool... All boards can ride quarterpipe fairly equally. Actual halfpipe stuff, it may help to have a different board as its something completely different. QP skating is almost an extention of street skating...

Well they may be the best to some people. It depends on what shape you like. Different people skate differently. I know a guy who skates 'Girl' his boards stay crisp for months! I have another friend who bought a few girls and they lost their pop within a month or two. They each skated about the same amount of time and are at about the same skill level. I guess the different ways that people skate may wear boards differently. Different boards are more resistent to certain things.

Personally I used to love Birdhouse till I came upon Foundation. It was the greatest board I ever had. Now I think I'm generally sticking to Foundation. I love everything about Foundation, the shape, the weight, how long they last. I don't know how to explain it. Everytime I get a Foundation I am become alot better than I was with whatever other board I had before it. Which I've had quite a few...

You kids that are saying birdhouses are only good for vert are dumbasses. Birdhouse boards are just as good as any other pro board. You ignorant boons just think that since Tony Hawk made a smart marketing decision to get them into stores as completes, that they're all ****. Birdhouse is made by Blitz which makes Baker and Flip, and I'm pretty sure used to make Element before Element was bought out a few years ago. So does that make Baker and Flip boards vert-only?
