So I am having computer problems, and am looking for assistance. If anyone is able to help me, I would be willing to pay. So what happened is my computer crashed during login. Now every time I start up the computer I get the evil blue screen of death. I get the following stop-error:
UNMOUNTATBLE_BOOT_VOLUME
STOP: 0x000000ED (0x89D49808 0xC0000006 0x00000000 0x00000000)
My Operating System (OS): Microsoft Windows XP Media Center
Research & Repair Attempts: I have researched what the problem may be and have found that it is more than likely a damaged / corrupt boot file. I have read this information at numerous locations, the most notable source being Microsoft themselves:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297185
Repair Attempt Problem: So I have tried the mentioned repairs listed on the above link to no avail. The problem is when I attempt to run the Recovery Console the computer locks up. I never make it to the command prompt.
The reason I need to repair rather than completely re-formating my hard drive is obviously because of irreplaceable information on the currently installed / damaged hard drive. Also if anyone could suggest a method of removing the data off of the current hard drive that would be great.

Yeah I get that blue screen as well from time to time (Blue isn't my favorite color anymore)
But when that happens to me I just run my start up cd and click repair hard drive but I get a different error message and I use vista but it should work I mean it can't hurt!

It locks up before I make it to the command prompt. I have tried to get to that screen to try the suggested fix "chkdsk /r". I am at a loss for what to do. A friend of mine and me came to the conclusion that my CD-ROM drive could be going bad, hence the freezing during booting from the CD drive (the installation disc). It just seems far fetched that the CD-ROM drive is going bad at the same time, but I suppose it is worth a shot.
Also thank you for the input.

get rid of all shadwing or casting as this can sometimes help. Or if you techniqual enough go inside your computer andunplug the belt thing and cable atteched to the hard drive or drives then just put them on again... i have that screen sometimes too just try these thing and it might work again.
and if you get onto the computer the first thing you should do is resert it for the day before this happened.

I also tried alternating RAM, because I read that it could be bad RAM. I don't understand the first part of your post though, about the shadowing or casting.
Lol, just noticed the typo in my thread topic.

Yes, I can get to the BIOS screen.
Alright, are you overclocking at all? I doubt this will have any effect for this problem but it's always good to bring everything down to default settings.
Have you booted into safe mode?

Have you booted into safe mode? No I was not overclocking. Since it is a boot file problem safe mode will not work either.
ATTENTION: Just wanted to let everyone know the situation is resolved. Thank you to everyone who attempted to help. I wasn't able to repair the boot file, but I was able to save my data. A friend of mine has a cable converts SATA to USB, so basically it turns your internal hard drive into an external hard drive. We then extracted the desired data. After the data I wished to keep was saved, we just formatted the hard drive and re-installed Windows.
