Oh I've heard that before, it's not real, what they did was they used to drill deep into the ground and the workers used to hear weird noises, so they lowered a mic down into the hole, and the sound heard is basically the sound the drill makes as it drills through the rock. :)

-Hell is not a physical place that you go. Hell is very real but it is not literally fire and the gnashing of teeth. Those were just ways for the scriptural authors to describe the loneliness and emptiness of being apart from God.

Haha, I don't think so simply because in situations like this they want to believe that they are actually sounds from Hell and they are pulling things out of scripture and saying "Look, there are worms there and Jesus talks about a worm!" I don't think it is necessarily coincidence, I think that the people that want to believe it is Hell pulled things out to make it fit their beliefs of a physical Hell.

I think that it does? With the exception of the Evolutionary Theory (which I consider to be pseudo science anyway), I believe that science and the Bible work perfectly together in every way that they should.

first of all, do you know how long 4 billion years is? that's 4,000,000,000 or a 4 followed by nine zeroes. a human generation is less than half a percent of that. that is plenty of time for something to happen. the universe is so big and so old. that the chances of something happening are a lot better than you think.

it was scientific consesus at the time because the church would stone you if you disagreed with them. Copernicus had to seek sanctuary because everyone tried to kill hm. don't act like the medieval world had any of today's freedoms. and we acknowledge that science has flaws. we don't claim to know all the answers (unlike some others I could name...)

You don't see the appropriate evidence because you are biased and don't want to yet you'll will most likely still clearly ignore that carbon dating methods don't nearly line up with what the Bible claims or any of the other contradiction in it.

And the Church controlled scientific consensus, read a history book. They had control of most everything at the time and when Copernicus and later Galileo also came along and showed error and tried to understand the universe better, they were almost killed for it because it didn't match up with the Church's story.

Also, Razz, Bbengyak, and company have it right. The Catholic church has done a lot in the past to make sure people believe them and not anything else. They ruled the scientific world, and would make sure anyone that did anything to make them seem wrong would wind up dead. And creationism is a joke, the bible uses a lot of metaphoric and non-literal language, that certain church goers decided were really literal... So even if you believe that bible, then you shouldn't believe something as stupid as creationism.
