I think you will ahve to take off the current griptape and then reapply new griptape. I am not sure how you would take it off. Just take it to the skateshop and get them to change it.

you normally only need new griptape if the grit, the sandpaper feel of it is gone, or if the grip tape itself is peeling off.

The griptape should in most cases last as long as the board, unless you leave it in the rain too much. If it is peeling off, then just manually take the time to rip it off. It will come off, but with alot of effort. Most skate shops won't do this for you unfortunately. But if you try to put some more on over it, it most likely won't stay on. Just peel it off, buy some new griptape (around 7$) then either get someone at a shop to do it for you, or do it yourself

Yeah you want to take the old grip off first,it easy just use a razorblade and peel a corner off then just take the rest off with your fingers.

Take a hairdryer and heat the grip tape making the glue of the griptape to break apart, then peel slowly, and reapply new griptape.
