I had a similar problem awhile ago. I found that God was a comfort in that. Free will allows people to do what they want, and unfortunantly, God can't interfere with that. But I wouldn't say God wasn't there for me (or this girl), he was there.

It really reminds me of a poem I saw a long time ago, you may be familiar with it:

Countries have held meetings together to solve the problem of HIV/AIDS, however, the church wasn't able to chip in. The commitee trying to contain the disease has the temporary solution that will slow the disease down by handing out condoms. The church cannot agree to these standards, this is because.. well, what do people need condoms for? SEX. In the church, as much as they really want to encourage the distribution of condoms, they are unable to, because it would go against what God wants and it will mean the church admits a semi-defeat for God's plan to have sex be the event in which man and woman will produce a new life and "gift" into the world.

The reason is became so popular and gays were ousted was because an airline pilot (who was a gay male) reportedly had sex some 250+ times (he flew between LA & NY a lot) - thing is, this idiot had HIV. Now think about it, what happens when 1 person gives it to another person? And that person gives to another? And so on and so on? It spreads like wildfire.

There were several heterosexual cases, just in America it happened to spread first through gay men.

Actually, Tyler Self is correct about the marriage part to an extent. If people waited until marriage for sex, it would be much harder for STD's to spread, since everyone would only be having sex with one person.

But that wouldn't eliminate STD's by any means, it would simply slow it down. Some people with an STD don't even know they have one. If your going to have pre-marital sex, you should at least get yourself tested occasionally/often (Depending on how much sex you have).
