View Full Version : variel kickflip help Austin08 06-05-2008, 04:27 PM any tips for them,i cant do them KrispyKicks 06-05-2008, 04:28 PM Its a shuvit and a kickflip. Just a little flick and then pop the shuvit. Sorta at the same time. Youll get it if you keep practicing Quagmire 06-05-2008, 04:46 PM I use to set up like a varial flip but then just do a pop shuv it and i would flip it without even trying it would just happen. Give that a try see if it works for you. robnks 06-05-2008, 06:08 PM try puting more of your weight over your front foot . and whenyou pop off and flick. it should spin and flip the way you want . the trick is crazy cuz the trick is front foot opperated. opposed to a tre where it is mostly back foot. RIP_BOB_GNARLY 06-05-2008, 06:19 PM Just keep working on timing. Once you get the timing down, jsut jump forward like you would for a bs shuvit and stomp your feet on the board. I can do them inconsistently. My prob is landing on it after the flip and rotation. I usually over jump the board with my front foot. So, just keep practicing. That is what I ahve been doing. matthayessaves! 06-05-2008, 07:27 PM check out the trick tips on skateboard.com the pros teach you really useful cha-BANG 06-05-2008, 07:48 PM ok here's my tip for ya First off, you want to make sure your back foot is set up how you would put it for a pop shuv-it. Now, you want to make sure that your front foot is like a kickflip, or however you feel comfortable about flipping your board. (i personally put it more towards the middle than a normal kickflip, but thats me) Executing the trick A. You want to roll at a slow speed at first, when you're just learning, make sure your feet are in the right position, and crouch. B. Now, you are ready to do a varial flip. pop/scoop with the back foot, like a shuvit, and then you want to give the board a nice flip, like that of a kickflip. C. In order to stay over the board, you will need to jump forward a bit (in the direction you face when just standing on the board. (the way your toes face :)) D. When you are in the air, make sure to jump forward as mentioned above ^ and land with bent knees to absorb shock, and make it smoother. ::::TROUBLESHOOTING:::: Common problems when attempting the varial flip. -You may not flip the board all the way, landing upside down. WHAT DID I DO WRONG? you need to make sure your flick is SOLID, it has to really FLICK, you can't just roll your foot off of the board, FLICK IT LIKE ITS NET FLIX -You may land on the ground with the board in front of you. WHAT DID I DO WRONG? you only flipped the board, you didn't concentrate on landing. you need to make sure to watch your board, get the feel of where your board goes when you do the trick, and jump accordingly. -Another problem may be only rotating the board 90 degrees, while flipping the board half way or fully kickflipping. WHAT DID I DO WRONG? You need to really SCOOP back, make sure that you can pop shuvit first, and you shouldn't get this problem. YOU MUST HAVE THE HANG OF POP SHUVITS FIRST. if you still get this problem, but only on varials, try hanging your back foot's toes off of the endge of the board for a better scoop. keep trying, you won't get it first try, you just need to keep going, be positive, watch trick tips, and just KEEP TRYING. i hope my tips help you out, i wish you the best of luck with your trick! guitarkid7 06-05-2008, 07:49 PM Psst..
