View Full Version : Balance wtf? Ball of your foot or whole foot or what?
KrispyKicks 06-06-2008, 07:20 PM I cant seem to find the right position of kickflips. The position i get in for a good flick always makes me curve off to the right and i lose balance. I put the toes and ball of my feet ( right under toes) on the back. Then i tried one with like the top half of my foot on the tail and it was nicer, but harder to keep balance. What should i do?
guitarkid7 06-06-2008, 07:22 PM Just put them in the most comfortable but do-able position.
Thats what she said..
xXSkater14Xx 06-06-2008, 07:22 PM Whatever feels more comfortable to you.
ISkateZero 06-06-2008, 07:22 PM Whatever feels comfortable, I put my toes and balls of my feet on there.

Okay look, i know all you say whatever feels comfortable but, if what is comfortable is also sloppy or poor or making it inconsistent, and theres like a quick-fix positioning then im gonna wanna change it , kno what im sayin?

For me atleast, poor and sloppy looking tricks came from non-comfortable foot positions.
KrispyKicks 06-06-2008, 07:40 PM Alright, i think i got it. Its the second most comfortable but the most efficient, top half of foot, which is a little more then toes and ball of foot. Ill just get more comfortable with it.Thanks.
guitarkid7 06-06-2008, 07:58 PM Don't worry or think about the trick so much. Just get your back foot in a comfy, nice popping position.
But it sounds like you found that anyway.
KrispyKicks 06-06-2008, 07:59 PM Thanks. Your pretty chill dude.
Planb2276 06-06-2008, 08:06 PM lol, No one likes whole foot positioning.
twitchy_foot082 06-06-2008, 11:55 PM well honestly i dont even look at my back foot when setting up. i just like place it on the the tail an put it where it feels confortable. But I would say like toes and ball of my foot or top half of my foot is where i put it.
phlap 06-07-2008, 04:02 AM Generally, having your balls anywhere near your skateboard is a bad idea...
I jest... Put your toes and ball of your foot on.
fallen23zero 06-07-2008, 01:14 PM whatevers comfortable for you. just until these las 3 weeks i was movin my foot around. it could take a while for you to get comfortable with em
lsara3699 06-08-2008, 10:11 AM Do what is comfortable even if your kickflip is sloppy, it will come with time.
Planb2276 06-08-2008, 10:20 AM in my opinion, who cares!
aussiead 06-09-2008, 07:25 AM I had to change my foot placement to get heelflips cleaner but whatever feels right.pratice is the main thing
flatthump 06-09-2008, 05:06 PM As you get better and better at kickflips, and skateboarding in general , you'll be able to put more and more of your foot on the board. The more foot on the board, the more potential for gnarness.
kk360 06-09-2008, 05:32 PM Toes+ball=Good Balance and decent pop
sk858619 06-15-2008, 01:26 PM its probaby gunna be sloppy the first time you land it so dont worry about getting it perfect at least for now.
the reason why your turning and drifting off the board is probaby because your not staying parallel to the board which is what makes your foot land out and prevents you from getting your foot back on the board more comfortably.
Paul J 06-15-2008, 03:49 PM Toes and ball of foot would mean you'de be in a tip-toe stance which is deffinetly not what I do. Top half of foot on the board should be used for straight flip tricks, however of you're doing a flip trick with a spin (for example tre flip) then use toes and ball of foot on the side of the tail etc
tres all day 06-15-2008, 04:33 PM its basically what is most comfortable like everyone is saying, that is true but to me it doesnt make a difference how my foot is
SpiderSlam 06-15-2008, 07:56 PM toes, and ball of foot for me :]
