View Full Version : New Board Feels like crap
Haksaw 06-09-2008, 01:01 PM My Friend just got me a new board (Habitat deck, Bones wheels and bearings, and phantom trucks. its been awhile since ive got a new board (2 years ago) so idk how it should feel but it feels like ****. the trucks keep sticking and turning way to much i changed the bushings and that didnt do much i tried tightening the trucks the it keeps cutting off peices of the bushing and im getting piss please help me out.
JJBDude 06-09-2008, 01:04 PM It's not uncommon for new trucks to be a nuisance to people however I have never heard of the brand Phantom and am therefore going to assume they are a cheap nasty brand with poor quality products.
Try and deal with the way they are, if not I recommend getting a new well known high quality pair.

uhhh
phantom is a rather large company
their made by syndrome aka people who make silver, plan b,fdk
JJBDude 06-09-2008, 01:07 PM Well I stand by my comment of the company not being well known. I have gone through skateboard forums for years and skate everyday and have never come accross the brand so you know....
Haksaw 06-09-2008, 01:12 PM Any other advice?
Buy new bushings.
Break your board in. You just have to ride it until it adjusts to you. It will become comfortable by the end of a single day.

Ill try that but it feel so weird its tough.
You just have to do some skating on it for a while.
You'll get used to it.
Gnome 06-09-2008, 07:37 PM Is it a new board size as well?
If that's the case, your leg muscles need to take time to adjust to the new size of your board
rekees 06-12-2008, 06:42 AM wtf lol leg muscle ahhahaa
Naive 06-12-2008, 07:47 AM well if you havent bought a new deck for 2 years I'd expect it to be a bit weird at the beginning.
give yourself time to get used to it
kk360 06-12-2008, 08:16 AM New decks are like that. When I got my board I had lost my best tricks(tres, hardflips)but now I have them back so no worries.
phantomxrider 06-18-2008, 09:23 PM i never had problem with phantom trucks. thats even where i got my username form. ever since i set up my first pari two years ago ive always liked them. anyways, try recycling your old bushings. thats what alot of pros do.
MysterySk8er3 06-18-2008, 09:27 PM Like other people have said just skate. That is really the only thing you can do with new trucks. You have to break them in and get them loosened up to were your old ones were.
0ocircao0 07-15-2008, 03:18 AM You probally just need too get use to it,i had phantom trucks and they were horrible when i bought them.
skatee15x 08-07-2008, 11:45 PM im almost certain your trucks are on backwards
Epic Fail Guy! 08-30-2008, 06:23 PM Yeah I had this same problem, I switched out my bushing and it was fine, try that.
Seattl3sk8er 09-10-2008, 11:09 PM Ehh... I haven't had luck with the newer Phantom trucks. I like the older ones better and they're hecka cheap! As for your problem, I have to agree it's the bushings. I reccomend Bones Hardcore bushings or Shorty's Doh-Dohs.
geoff_rowley 09-11-2008, 12:30 AM yeah dude just do wat everybodys been sayin you just got to break it in. i got used to my board i been skating an 8 for a wile and i got used to it (i had to get it cuz i break boards like crazy and my mom just bought me a fiberlam)

Krux is made by the same people that do Independent, Santa Cruz, and Creature.
And if a pair of Krux somehow caught fire I wouldn't piss on them to save them, but I swear by the other brands.
Phantom is fairly cheap, your problem with the hanger getting stuck in positions is classic you needing to break in the bushings, keep riding and don't tighten down the trucks, it might take a week or so.
goddan 09-18-2008, 10:19 PM ride it for a bit so the trucks break in
