Why did you guys pick photography over videography?
Just wanted to see what you guys thought about each one.

AlmostaSkater14 06-09-2008, 06:56 PM the reason i like photography better than videography is because for one i am better at it. and i just like how you always end up noticing something cool in the way whoever is doing the trick is doing it. and it seems more experimental kind of. the way you need to find the right angle for certain spots and certain tricks and all that. MiniMan 06-09-2008, 10:08 PM Personally I like filming better, But from a normal point of you some pics are way better then vids but yea i like both ShredTheGnar 06-09-2008, 10:29 PM Because I didn't want to drop $2000 on a VX. xXSkater14Xx 06-09-2008, 10:39 PM Because I didn't want to drop $2000 on a VX. Is that the only reason? And have you ever tried filming? savedskater43 06-09-2008, 10:57 PM i personally like both because they are different but then again its pretty fun to take beautiful pics :) drtbk933 06-09-2008, 11:15 PM For me it cheaper to get a good quality picture from a camera than a crappy quality video from a camcorder for the same price. Sk8_Alchemist 06-10-2008, 07:08 AM a good photograph is the best moment in the trick, that one that you pause the video for. Photography RULEZ ShredTheGnar 06-10-2008, 10:05 AM Is that the only reason? And have you ever tried filming? Nope, there's more and that was one of the lesser reasons. Photography seems a whole lot more artistic than videography, and I have always enjoyed photos that provoke emotions, therefore I thought I'd make some of my own. And I totally agree with the post above me, skate photog is freezing time at the best part of the trick. Yes I have filmed a whole lot and while it is fun, I still prefer stills. xXSkater14Xx 06-10-2008, 10:16 AM Nope, there's more and that was one of the lesser reasons. I really like your username. haha I was thinking about just getting a panasonic gs80(since it's pretty cheap and produces great colors.) And maybe a fairly cheap but good camera. What are some of those? ShredTheGnar 06-10-2008, 10:22 PM No such thing as cheap and good in camera world xXSkater14Xx 06-10-2008, 11:29 PM Fairly..? Like Canon Optura's or gs80's except in photography. Shadowskater 06-10-2008, 11:36 PM Photography because I am better at it. photogian 06-12-2008, 03:37 PM photog because theres way more of an art to it. you have to have good lighting, composition, timing etc etc etc. its just way more fun all around andius 06-15-2008, 11:52 PM No such thing as cheap and good in camera world Not true at all, you can get amazing deals on both camcorders and cameras that produce amazing results. You just can't get the latest and greatest equipment. Most of the expensive equipment is much more qualified than the user most of the time anyways and the quality is usually only incrementally better than the much cheaper "last generation" equipment. Hell, my two film cameras are older than me and were dirt cheap yet can yield amazing photos. "cheap" is relative though Naive 06-16-2008, 11:13 AM it's easier, takes less time maybe. but I didnt want to pick one of the two i'll try and combine both of them, i love photography a lot but videography is awesome as well, even if itss more difficult and takes longer to film and edit stuff, i still love it |
