I am having some trouble connecting my XBOX to my PC. When I use the "Test Media Connection" on the XBOX it always fails the "PC Selected" test. I have downloaded Windows Media Connect and it appears to recognize the XBOX because I "Allowed" it under devices. I thought the problem might be firewalls, but I disabled them and ran the XBOX test again, but it still failed at "PC Selected."
I am just looking for some help on the situation because browsing the web for help hasn't turned anything up.

I know there is a list of ports you need to have open in order to enable connectivity.
I'm just going off memory here, but I think there should be a guide of some sort on xbox.com.
I'll see If I can find it.

Here it is:

Yeah, I disabled both of my firewalls and it still didn't work so I know it isn't the firewalls. I don't think I would have to port forward them on my router would I?

Well since the 360 is a remote computer of sorts, it's likely that you'd need to..
I still need to learn a lot about the way the internet, and all of the parts of it work..
At the moment I'm really good with the harware and software.. but I need to start learning about all of this internet stuff.
So I can't be of much more help.
Try port forwarding though.
:)

I guess it couldn't hurt, but that is a crap load of ports.
EDIT: I found something interesting: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/XBox_360_Media_Center.htm
UPDATE: Well, I tried the port forwarding and it didn't work. I even turned off both firewalls with the router ports forwarded and still nothing. I am really not sure what the problem may be.

i could never get the media center thing to work, so what i did was go into windows media player, and allow my computer to share files with my xbox, it takes like 2 seconds to set up.
whatever method you use though, good luck with it! it is a ***** to setup with the media cetner add on.
