i live in alabama and the spots here are pretty dissapointing, except for one ditch behind my friends house which is a pretty awesome spot. but before i moved here i lived in california where the spots were amazing and nobody cared if you skated in the parking lot or skated the sets in front of their stores. so if anyone on here actually lives here please let me know were the spots are.

Well, you can't really base spots on your state. You got to base it on the cities. I am sure Montgomery, Birmingham, or other big cities got to have some nice spots in Alabama.

Here in my hometown there are a few nice spots. Most of which are at the schools.

My tiny town has some parking lots if you can get away with skating there more than 10 minutes. Other than that, it's the highway/road. There is a small skatepark in the next county over though.

I live in the middle of nowhere, and its surrounded by cornfields so there arent really any spots, but just a skatepark, and that gets old after a while.

Skate spots.... >______>

The twin cities and surrounding suburbs are filled with spots. You get kicked out so quick on weekdays, unless it's later in the day, but on Sundays... All day baby. I'm stoked to live up here.

i got a few good ledges, gaps, sets around where i live

but they get old fast, and so does the ****ty skatepark....

06-11-2008, 01:26 PM
The good stuff is few and far between. What we can skate can only be skated on the weekend (and even then we usually get kicked out), not to mention there is something terriblyy sketchy with every single spot.

My spots are not great. All the surfaces round here are far to rough for decent freestyle, and it makes riding on hard wheels interesting:icon_biggeven the skatepark is like that... I think I'm gonna start a petition to have it resurfaced... I could get maybe 15 names...

my place isnt that cool
all there is, is a three, four, five, eight, and 20 stair with all rough terrain except for the 20 stair
but i think the best part is the ledges are like always waxy for some reason

skatetilldeath
06-11-2008, 08:33 PM
ya the bests spots were i live are usually down in the middle of the ghetto, but its worth it because it always makes for an amazing sesh, but you get kicked out of everywhere down there, except theres an 8 stair behind this tattoo/bong shop down there and nobody cares if you skate it.

here they are great. I cant remember who it was that said in a skate video that barcelona looked like it was built for skating.. well they were right

it has loads of places, some more well known and others more hidden but you cant run out of spots

the only problem is the people that arent skating and are there or passing by.

We have a flatland area and a 4 stair under a roof, an all right skatepark, and...most dissapointing...a BEAUTIFUL garage with a curved bank, 5 mins from my house. I figured out it was there a week ago, skated it once on a friday afternoon, and it's being closed again today, and I couldn't skate it because of exams... It was unimaginable, such a nice spot so close to my house... I started praying to god... And now it's getting closed.

Oh and we also have a small two stair... Not such a great spot though...

Gah..the school that was literally behind my backyard had a sick stair spot..it was really good.

But last year the put a fence right before the stairs..it doesnt even make sense. Its like they put it there so I couldn't try to ollie over them or go own them.. =|
Other than that and another school, my area isn't too great. =P

Yeah I know what spots are. In fact in Norway we call them "spots" as well. With a very Norwegian accent that is.

What I mean is that I have no spots here.

I've got no good area. They aren't any skate parks in Shanghai (at least not that I know of) and skating on the road is more dangerous than you think cuz the drivers in Shanghai go like 200mph. The area in front of my house is all bumpy but it's the only place I can skate on. Without being knocked down.

emenikmatis
06-16-2008, 05:21 AM
there's a few okay schools but they're usually a bust if you go with more than 4 people.
a few ledges but the bmxers have wrecked 'em.
and a few pads but the ground isn't always the smoothest
average i'd say.

phlap
06-16-2008, 06:04 AM
We used to have an amazing spot, almost like a skate plaza, but recently it has become a bust.

There's: Big 3 & Big 4, Big walls to ollie off, an 8 stair, 3 stair, 6 stair, a bank, and some skatestopped ledges that are still skatable. Theres ledges, and hubba's & 'round the corned theres bollards to ollie over, and further up theres a 7, and a few 4 stairs.

It's impossible to skate for more than 10 minutes nowadays, and then the police come and everything...

here they are great. I cant remember who it was that said in a skate video that barcelona looked like it was built for skating.. well they were right

Honestly, that guy was 100% right!
Look at Fondo, it's a complete bust, but the architect who designed it couldn't have possibly not thought about skatebaording...

We have pretty good spots, but you get kicked out before you can do them or there's something wrong with it to mess you up. Like this perfect 4 stair, there's about a 1 inch drop right before it that messes you up. and a perfect gap right next to it, but it has a curb after it and you either have to clear the curb or ollie like on top of it and it will hurt. and i know i cant clear it.

well i got a park, some ok spots, not many BIG sets, theres a 12, a 7 flat 7, and some crappy 6 flat 7.. umm lets see..other than that theres like..2 sets and 3 sets haha some 4's in the mix.. umm we kinda just find stuff, like there was this weird concrete ledge,to like a 3 foot drop, maybe more like 4-5, and you do a trick over the ledge, catch it NICE, and drop that whole thing, and ride down on perfect pavement :)

theres lots of stuff i just cant remember it unless i go skate ^^

It is currently illegal to skate in my city, but here are some spots we used to be able to skate:

4 foot loading dock
5 foot loading dock
multiple other loading docks ranging from 2-4 feet
Covered 3 stair
Bush gap 5 feet tall 7 feet long
Bush gap 3 feet tall 5 feet long
9 stair
Concrete Bank (Hard to skate though)
Short, but fun concrete banks behind a warehouse
another 3 stair
4 stair
6 stair at church (5 minute walk from my house)
5 stair at another church
2,800 square foot skate park. (It is built on 1 tennis court.). The skatepark consists of 2 quarterpipes, a funbox, 2 rails, a box, and a kicker. The kicker is 5 feet away from the fence, though.

Basically, all that we can skate from all of that now is the skatepark.

We have a park... that sucks.
Then we have a few sets from a 2 to an 8... not bad some kinda suck.
And that would be our skate spots. ****, I know.

Well im pretty lucky because i live near DC so there is a lot of places.

Stairs-11-20 set.
Hand rails- Good condition of rails.
Gaps-If you search for them really hard you can find some decent ones.
Drops-So far every drop i have been and really nice.
Ground-Some are smooth, but the side walks and roads are messed up.
Kickers-none.
Manaul pads-long and short pads every were.

theyre pretty good cept its a long walk to every spot, weve got a 4 rail at a building that we can only go to on weekends, weve got this huge gap at a strip mall here be the video http://youtube.com/watch?v=ck0UmHP_FAI&feature=user
then wes got a 6 set behind one of the stores at that strip mall. and theres this spot called showroom, its actually pretty sick, but its on the other side of route 9, so its a pain in the ass to cross

I have a rail at home, but theres a couple loading docks and random curbs around. Theres this one outdoor shopping center that is literally my backyard that has perfect ledges and stairs, but theres a butt load of security and police there so it's pretty much impossible to get 5 minutes with a board in there.

i live on a dirt road 1 hour away from a small town with no skate spots or skate parks and all i skate every day is my wooden door step and some chipboard laid out on the ground ghetto i think :D

My situation is almost exactly like that, except I also have a blacktop highway near my house to skate on while cars go by at 75mph. I've skated on that thing for four years, until they re-did it and now it's too rough to bother with.

I usually go to a friend's house in town and skate behind shady, abandoned lots with broken beer bottles everywhere and just skate flatland. Oh, there is a national forest park thing a few miles from my house, and I skate at the Marina whenever its closed. That's an awesome place. It has massive hills, two four sets and one six set. It's the best place we have around here, but the downside is if you mess up and your board shoots off, it's probably going into the water.

ZeroSkaterFTW
07-03-2008, 12:49 PM
Most spots are flatland, there are maybe 3 sets and they are 2, 3, and 5 sets. One set is a six but the run up is too small. There are many ledges, many grass gaps, and one loading dock at the post office [which is perfectly legal, if no one is there :) ]. The good thing about my city is that, everything you skate is legal, and the cops can't do anything about it. The Post Office is illegal, but if no one is there, the guy that works there doesn't care. In the city about 10 minutes away from mine, there are tons of sets, and many ledges and gaps.
