Tony Hawk is a legend, hands down. Its ridiculous to ''hate'' the guy, or even not give him the credit he SO ''F''ing deserves! That guy got me into skateboarding WAAAYYYY back in the early 90's, and he's still doing it today! Thats legendary material right there!

How can you not know the name of the organization? It is the Tony Hawk Foundation. He donated like eaither $150,000 or $250,000 to a neighboring town to get a skatepark, and it is one of the nicest ones in east Tennessee.

There is nothing wrong with hawk. He is not my favorite but there is no reason to hate.

Apparently, you're the one that doesn't like Tony Hawk. I don't understand how you could just dislike the guy. He's been through so much. From super skinny kid who had a few problems with skating to an adult whom is still skinny, but not as skinny, and is amazing at vert. He hasn't done much to bring down the skating industry to make us dislike him at all, he's more like the legendary savior that helped bring skateboarding into people's eyes.hmm kinda like the Zephyr boys but he came in later with Rodney Mullen.

and he has a foundation that donates thousands and thousands of dollars to build skateparks for cities that dont have them..

if I remember correctly he donated .. I wanna say 15,000 (maybe 10,000$)dollars to the duluth concrete park opening in august.. it might have been less but whatever it's still super gnarly

I started skating because I found my neighbor's old Powell-Peralta Tony Hawk board in his garage and started shredding on it back in 1995. Who knows where I would be if I had never found this board. Thanks Tony!

I think he's over marketed.

he has severly diluted his brand by going outside of skateboarding with it. skateboard video games and skateboard shoes, decks, wheels, thats is fine too, but when you put your name on a roller coaster ride then youve gone too far (see Tony Hawk's Big Spin Coaster (http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/news/stories/20070221_02.shtml)) and started to dilute your brand. hes a good skateboarder and i have nothing against him as a person.

Something I forgot to mention is that he deserves even more respect for being a skilled skateboarder running several companies, yet managing to support a family (wife and kids) at the same time. Heck, I have trouble managing my spare time for both skateboarding and my girlfriend and I'm only 20, while the guy is a hundred times more successful in everything than I will ever be. He's great.

If you hate Tony or say hes alright then I can say pick up an old Bones movie and watch him skate vert or pool doubles with Moutain or Cab. But if it wasn't for Tony skateboarding would still be dead, and without him I wouldn't have started skateboarding when I was 5.

You all give Kudo's to Tony, which is alright. But you are forgetting the ORIGINAL skaters that made Tony who he is. JAY ADAMS, TONY ALVA, and STACEY PERALTA to just name a few. Jay started the radical moves. If you have ANYONE to thank, thank Jay Adams folks.

tony hawk has done more for YOU than you even know...

because of him and his organization, we have skateparks being built all the time. any more are in the plans of being built daily. this is because, tony is a leader and put himself out to public (which 99% of skaters would not want to deal with).

through him, we had the 1st of decent skateboard video games! (which might have inspired you to start)!

i know sometimes pro's read some of these forums... if tony, you happen to read this,
i want to thank you for everything you have done! i dont think we can ever thank you enough.
