I'm coming from snowboarding and decided to pick up skateboarding to fill in those months between snow. I cheaped it and bought a "complete" off of ebay. Items description as follows:

ELEMENT MUSKA LA FIBERLIGHT COMPLETE SKATEBOARD
ELEMENT 7.5 DECK (MUSKA)
PRO INDY TRUCKS (BLACK)
53mm LITEZPEED DURA ROLLERS WHEELS (BLACK)
SUPER FAST BEARINGS
SHORTYS HARDWARE (PHILLIPS)
JESSUP GRIP (BLACK)

Asking around, people (well, 2 people) have told me this wasn't even worth buying, but like I said, I'm a complete noob. Just learned to ollie at a standstill the other day and I'm not even that good at it. Problem is that people have said that I should just invest in a good setup from the start so I don't have to readjust to good hardware once I start picking up tricks and stuff. Would equipment even make that big of a difference to a beginner like me? Only real qualms I've got with this setup so far is that the trucks seem a bit loose, but I've heard that's not that big a problem.

I've got some old Abec 5's lying around from back in the day when I inlined, will those work better? Also, what difference would getting new wheels or deck make? The deck feels pretty good (snappy). I'm kinda hefty so I don't expect to be ollieing too high until I lose some of this weight anyways.

new deck and new wheels always feel awsome, but you know, if youre a begginer - you dont really need new things.

im not a big fan of element, but sounds alright to me. yeah having a good deck makes it easier to learn new tricks, if youre a beginner or not.

You can tighten your trucks so their not too loose. Also, I had a Toy Machine fiberlight. It didn't last long because fiberlights chip fast. But that won't be a big problem because you are a beginner not doing alot of flip tricks or gaps. So that sounds fine to me.
