Everyone knows that mastering a trick requires commitment to practice. It means trying to do it over and over no matter how many times you fall. So just for the curiosity I would like to know in average speaking, how long does it take you guys to practice on a trick before you feel you mastering it?

It depends on the trick. It also depends on what you really mean by 'mastering' a trick, to me mastering a trick is getting it on lock on all terrains, flatground, drops, stairs, up stuff, banks, funboxes, tranny, and being able to do it spontaneously. So from this point of view it can take quite a while, or not. Again it really depends on how hard the trick is.

There are lots of different difficulty to different tricks.

Heelflips took me 1 week, Pop shove its took me 1 month (I was not used to jumping forward in a trick, that time i only knew ollies), kickflip IS taking me 2 months and going.

I wouldn't call any of my tricks perfected. My axle stalls maybe.

I'm still perfecting everything from Ollie's to B/S heels.

It really depends on the trick, some are higher ranked than others. Like who's going to learn 720 flips in the span of time they learned an ollie? I learned how to ollie in a day or two. I had intense practicing at the time though because I had just started. Determination makes the win.

I wouldn't say what MRCK for ME.

To ME, its having a trick on lock, and taking it off a ledge or on a bank in a couple trys. I say that because I don't have any sets to try a trick off of, and rarly a small ledge.

And it really does depend on the trick. Because if your learning say.. BS flips. And you have really good kickflips, BS 180s, and varial kickflips, you might learn the trick a little faster then something else. MAybe not.

As long as it takes.
Everyone's different, and so's every trick, it just takes time...

I can't help but notice that the answers on here are slightly less amusing than the ones on the Sidewalk forum.

depends...

some tricks i may learn 1st or 2nd try... then others may take a month or more...

i just get into a zone to learn it, but once i lose that feeling, i might go back to that trick a couple months down the road... or maybe a year..

yup it depends, specially if you know how to do something that contributes to it. like if you're learing fakie bigspin, and you can already fakie 180 and fakie shuv, it'll take a lot less time than otherwise.

i learned twisted flips first try, thats all i remember landing first try though lol :)and fs shuv haha

all depends on the trick. for example i considered my tre flips mastered once i had them consitently landed off of loading docks about 3 weeks after i landed my first one. varial kicks i considered mastered once they were just plain consistant the same day so it all depends on how hard the trick is

as long as it takes... sometimes mastering a trick comes naturally... other times, it takes lots of time. 360 flips took me a long time to master. however, hardflips came naturally and i was landing them easily and cleanly. yet, this was 10 years ago when i used to skate. i'm getting back into it now. i tried a hardflip and almost landed it after 10 YEARS! 360 flip, not a chance haha.

i learned 360 flips. 2 years ago. it has now been a full 3 years of me skating. i can mostly land 3 flips first try. so basically it took me 2 years to master my 360 flip. and they are ugly as dirt.

how long?

somone could say 2 years. but that could mean they skate every day or they dont.

it depends on how MUCH you skate. not how long.

IT TAKES ME INSANELY LONG LEARN A TRICK!!!

Simply because, I gots no time!!
(Its been roughly a year, and I still haven't mastered a ollie)

Oh well... I don't mind, skateboarding (to me) isn't all about mastering as many tricks as possible as fast as possible...

idk. varial heels were a pain. They took about 1 month to get somewhat consistent. Then I lost them for about 3 months and have them finally on lock.

Everything was different for me. Ollies took a long time and then other tricks started coming easier.
