View Full Version : I'm a BIT crazy, but I don't care.
I'm planning on printing out a letter (multiple copies) to witness and placing the letter places around where I work (Hardee's. I've worked 3 days now :) ) to witness for Jesus. Think this is good or did I miss something as far as Jesus goes?
Dear Sir/Madame:
I will tell you, as I'm sure you already know, life sometimes...well...sucks. Things get hard, stressful, confusing, and depressing. A person can go from happy as a bird to crying their eyes out in a matter of seconds. Not to mention a reality we all have to face: death. One day we will all pass away and cease to be a part of Earth. 'Tis a scary thought, isn't it. So, really, why though should we want to live? A life filled with pain and suffering, and one day death? It really is a grim thought. But I say now, there is hope, not only for the future, but for today!
We all do things that are wrong, and this is not all our doing, but the doing of one who desires only to "kill, steal, and destroy" you: Satan! Satan hates you more than you imagine, and loves to use false advertising, so to speak, to make things that will inevitably lead to your demise look wonderful, and he does a good job of it. Fornication for example. "Hey, a one-night-stand won't hurt you, and besides, it'll feel good!" Yet in the end you could end up, even using a condom, contracting a number of STDs and/or creating a baby that you can't take care of who will end up having a broken life because of your mistake. Or smoking. It seems good at first, but after a while, it hooks you, and then it's a downhill journey to death...a painful death. I personally saw my grandma die of lung cancer in Nov. 2007 because of smoking, and before she died she ended up being on morphine because of the pain. It hurt her, but it also hurt her family, and all because of Satan's hold.
I should know his plans especially, because he almost completely destroyed me. I was at a point in life where I cussed like a sailor, abused drugs, and was addicting to pornography, stealing and lying to make up for the drugs and porn. This all lead to a deep depression I fell into, and eventually thoughts of suicide. Satan almost had what he wanted. I was almost dead, destined to rot in hell with him for the rest of eternity, but when I was at my lowest point in life I cried out to Jesus, and Jesus set me free of it all in an instant. I was instantly set free from porn addiction, lost my desire to be high, my vocabulary changed, the depression left, and the thoughts of suicide ceased, and all in the instant he came and set me free! Hallelujah!
But, you see, your freedom is in Jesus. We are all destined to rot in hell, and deserving to. I don't care how much of a "good person" you are, how often you attend church, or how often you give to charity. The Bible says that all have sinned, and the wages of sin is death, referring to the second death, which is the Lake of Fire! Because we've all did wrong and fell into Satan's diverse temptations, by the law of the universe, we all deserve to burn in hell. But not only a hell after death, but a life that is like hell on earth, filled with lack of joy and an emptiness that you cannot fill, because we were created so that only God can fill it. And as long as we've sinned, God, being holy, cannot come to us. Also, as long as we've sinned, God, being just, can't allow us into heaven to live with him for eternity. At this point, all hope seems lost for us all, but let me tell you where our hope lies.
God, being just yet ever-loving, decided that he couldn't let us be destined to hell without a way out, so he gave us a way to live. God sent his son, Jesus, to Earth to live life. He lived a perfect life, the only man ever to do so, and yet took the most painful death sentence ever came up with by man: flogging followed by crucifixion. In doing this, he took our punishment for sin, and rose from the dead 3 days later to claim victory over even death! In him doing this, he gave us a way to live a joyous life on Earth actually satisfied and content, and also live with him forever in heaven after we pass away!
The Bible says that all we have to do is believe and repent. If we believe that Jesus died and will follow him, meaning trying our best to live by his commands, and we will confess him, he will forgive us for our sins by his death, give you life, and be your friend. Ask him today.
Lord God, King of heaven and of earth, I have done wrong in your sight. I've sinned against your name. But God, I know that Jesus died so that I could be forgiven of my sin, so I ask you to cleanse me today, and let me come into a relationship with you, so that my life can be complete. And help me God to not sin against you, so that I can live a life pleasing before you. Thank you God for your forgivness. In Jesus name, Amen.
If you said that prayer to God from your heart (and not necessarily the same words, but the meaning), then you are now forgiven and going to live with Jesus. I suggest now to start reading the Bible, God's word, and to get in church to learn more about him. And pray. Talk to God about everything. He needs to be your closest friend, and he hears everything you say to him, and he'll reply in some way, whether it be through his Word or revealing an answer to you in another way (or even through a prophet, which is pretty cool actually I think, but yeah).
Thanks for reading and God bless,
Henry "Pop" W. (a mix of nicknames I've gotten over the years)
But yeah. Any pointers on that?
mc studda 06-12-2008, 09:48 PM or you can just go to church and tell people about god? being weird and freak about religion is not how you influence people
or you can just go to church and tell people about god? being weird and freak about religion is not how you influence people
I could, but there are MANY MANY people who don't go to church. Remember Paul in the Bible. He went as far as to witness in some temples of Greek gods. Being a "Jesus Freak" is exactly the kind of thing Jesus wants; somebody who will do anything to glorify the name of Jesus, even if it causes them personal pain of some sort.
Hellview 06-12-2008, 09:59 PM you might want to change it to "addicted" to porn not addicting to porn.
anyway theres this thing we have in the skatepark volunteer room that says "preach the gospel, and if necessary use words"
the minute I open up a letter like this and see jesus on it, I usually throw it away.
I'm not saying the letter is a bad thing, but the minute somebody sees a guy hiding jesus letters everywhere it turns them off from religion, you know what I mean?
I think there are better things you could do with the letter rather than stash it in random places at work. You never heard of jesus placing letters anyway, I think you should just talk to people. but not all jehovas witness style because thats wierd too.
jakedaskater 06-12-2008, 10:09 PM you've been working there for three days, and you already want to start pushing your religion on other employees? that must be some kind of harassment
Boobies 06-12-2008, 10:11 PM people dont want your beleifs rammed down there throats
im sure they all know about Christianity, so if they want to be christian they can
all your going to do is piss people off
you have you beliefs and they have theirs
mc studda 06-12-2008, 10:14 PM izzy you need to not be a freak and teach the word of jesus not scare people with it. leaving random notes would make me mad even tho i am christian. just be chill about religion man and follow the word of god instead of being a physcho. better to act then to just talk

True but if you can do both it's a plus ;)
yeah your deff christian, that's why you got a weezy pic as your avatar
How does what we wear or display ourselves as make us less Christian? I've seen some really "hardcore Christians" who are much more gangsta looking than his avy. I don't see at all why he can't be a Christian and have the avy?

Not the employees. Customers ;). Bathrooms, under the salt shakers at the tables (folded up of course), etc. And not just for the job but also at other places. Just I'm gonna be at work a lot so that's a start. The employees will hopefully be able to see Jesus in me + any conversations that veer off to religion.

lol
that might me a little bad for business
Tyler Self 06-12-2008, 10:41 PM I wouldn't put your own story into the paper. And if you must do it...make it shorter, and be able to hold the persons attention. You started out good, but I lost interest fast.
glidenhi 06-12-2008, 11:07 PM Izzy, I think what you have written is true and it gives a great testimony of what has happened in your life. It could be very helpful to a lot of people. Nevertheless, I don't think it is fair to distribute it in someone's place of business without asking thier permission. Part...or all of it could be offensive to some of the customers.
mc studda 06-12-2008, 11:53 PM how is weezy makes me not christian?
Boobies 06-13-2008, 12:49 AM honestly i saw that around a restaurant, i would rip them down and complain to your manager,
how would you fell if in a restaurant you saw signs that said "god is stupid, and religion is bull****"

pooldogfromoz 06-13-2008, 02:31 AM I love your enthusiasm friend but that sounds insanely annoying. Just let people live their lives. I sinserely doubt that anything you say will turn me to Christianity, and I know nothing I say will even dent your belief. So why can't we just be content with out lives?
I'm happy with my life-style, and it isn't becouse I'm uneducated in the beliefs I could have.
Just chill and enjoy your existence the way you want to. Without thinking of others. I'm happy and you're happy, is that such a bad thing? Why fight a war that doesn't exist?
swordman540 06-13-2008, 02:48 AM Don't force religion onto others. If you are truly a Christian, believe that you should not let them find God, but let God find them.
And if I was acustomer there, I will complain and you'd probably be fired. If we're all happy believing in what we believe, let it be.

The thing that you don't take into consideration is that people have their own beliefs, and are entitled to them just as you are entitled to yours. I don't know what makes you think you have the right to jam your religion down peoples throats, but I know that if I went there and saw that letter, I would complain to your manager and possibly get you fired.
=Z28= 06-24-2008, 12:04 AM Grats on the job mang.
Maybe ask the manager or owner if he's cool with it, just incase... if a customer or someone comes up and gets pissed off (people are ridiculous man, you never know), you won't get any heat.
might I suggest mail boxes too? =]
lilro 06-24-2008, 12:47 AM Nobody's gonna read the whole thing. Especially at a restaurant. And if they do they will probably tell your manager and you will most likely be fired. You don't go to McDonald's and see a bible at every table do you?? Didn't think so. With that letter it will create a sense that Hardee's is a christian restaurant. And will probably shy customers away. It will then make the local news and cause conflicts that will be spoken about by Anderson Cooper lol. Not such a good idea.
FreestyleFred 06-25-2008, 02:26 AM Hey man, you have the right heart for evangelism but I don't know that you are really taking it the completely right way. Sometimes it can be tempted to straight up give people things like this to read (and sometimes it is very effective) but often times it isn't the best form of witness. I can assure you, the best way that you can witness to these people is to just be a normal dude and represent Christ by your lifestyle. If you are representing Christ by the way that you live, they will be curious.
I used to work a construction job and as tempting as it was to just give people brochures and books and Bibles, I didn't do it because in the end they probably would have been far less likely to listen to me. Instead, I walked the walk and they began to notice that I didn't curse when I hit my finger with a hammer and I didn't talk about women like sex objects, etc. Several of them started to ask me about these differences and that was when the opportunity opened up for me to explain why I am so different and I had the opportunity to share my faith with them.

Yea, did he tell you that himself? There is a reason for churches, talk about your stuff there. Do you really think that someone wants to go out to eat and read a long letter about jesus? No, they want to sit down and eat some dinner for ****s sake. You should chill out with the whole religion thing, your 16, go hang out with some friends and maybe you should worry about religion when you have kids.

I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one who has found/will find a couple of problems in here.
First off, the "people are ridiculous" comment was just plain ignorant. If you're posting up things like what Izzy wrote in someone's place of business (AKA ramming it down people's throats,) of course there are going to be people upset. What if I went to a place where you were looking to do some business, and I started running my mouth about how the Bible is bull****? I can imagine that you'd be livid. It's the same thing, and I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate it.
Mailboxes? Are you kidding me? If you were to put one of them in my mailbox, you'd better hope that your sorry ass didn't write a return address on it. People have minds of their own, in case you didn't know or something. People are also entitled to freedom of religion. Keep your beliefs to yourself and let people live their lives.
le electric chr 06-25-2008, 04:06 AM sounds like a good idea. i should do some of these on how no one can be sure if there is a god or not. thanks for the great idea, izzy :]
flatthump 06-25-2008, 04:29 AM you've been working there for three days, and you already want to start pushing your religion on other employees? that must be some kind of harassment
It actually is harassment if he gets one complaint about it and continues to do it. It does not fall under freedom of speech.
Why don't you make a more general letter instead? One that doesn't mention Jesus.....just a higher power.
I personally think it's kind of stupid. It's hard for ANYONE to believe (in America at least) that anybody went out of their way for somebody else. Make sense? Making a letter that construes a higher power will get you off the hook and people might actually read it.
It really is hard to believe you're doing this so other people can experience the higher awareness you might have received from "Jesus Christ". I mean ****, the bible actually tells you to do it and to even push it on people if it hurts you!
That's worse than Carrie underwood being the new face for Nintendo DS.
7evenUp 06-25-2008, 06:27 AM talk about pushing believeson others.....
have you EVER seen someone print outletters like that preaching for science and that jesus isnt real?

just saw this, its exactely what im getting at

So, is trolling this side of the forums a full time hobby or just part time?
I realize you along with the other people who enjoy flaming get some kind of demented satisfaction from it, but isn't it more fun to go skate something?

Is being a ****ing retard a full time hobby for you? He didn't flame once (I just did, but he was asking for it), he just said that he shouldn't force religion on others, he never insulted Izzy or anybody in this thread.
Regardless of what you believe, you shouldn't push your views on others. Wanna know what that accomplishes? You piss people off. Would you be pissed if I put a long essay on a paper telling you that Allah was the almighty god, or praise Shiva, or that God didn't exist? That's right, you would.

God does not need to find anyone he knows and loves everyone.
Izzy, What you've written in the letter is very true and important for the 10 commandments is our gateway to heaven and repenting is very important. that is why David was chosen to be Jesus's ancestor, because David did sin but he always repented. But I think a letter like that would not interest anyone. Except Christians. If you really want to spread God's word pray to God and tell him. Ask him to make you a good evangelist/pastor/preacher or whatever. God will appreciate it and he will answer your prayers. I think you'll touch many lives. I for one also want to spread God's word.

If someone wants to come at me with their side of their story, I'll listen, cheerfully I might add. Any religion, or none at all. So I can't understand where you're coming from.
MysterySk8er3 07-07-2008, 05:20 PM If I saw this in a restruant I would do everything in my power to have the writer of it or who ever put it there fired. Maybe even sue them. There is a place where that letter is meant to got and that is in the gar.... I mean in a church.
Tyler Self 07-07-2008, 05:31 PM ^^Wow..Paul was right when he said people would be offended by the word.
Do you want me to not say the 'G' word and also begin saying "happy tree festival"?
Lol so many people on this thread act as if someone would have a clue who put it there. My printer's broke, so of course I can't yet <_< (though possibly something similar beforehand). You missed that the way I did it was anonymously. My name is even like a Pen name or w/e. Even people who knew me wouldn't know I placed it there, so therefore I wouldn't get fired even if a customer did complain, because for all they know it could be another customer who sat at the table last (people've done that. I saw those religious cards in the comment card holder when cleaning tables. Left them there for someone else to find) And let me ask you Mystery, if we leave the Word in church, then how is it going to get out to help those who are lost? How can a lightbulb left in the package help light a dark room? How can salt still in a bag give food flavor? The answer is it can't. If we don't let our light shine in the darkness of this world, then there are people who will go to hell, eternally separated from God, who never had hope in the first place because of my political correctness. And I'd never be able to forgive myself if I knew that because of my conforming to societies standards, someone loses there soul, when had I lived by God's standards, it would have been prevented. To leave the Word in church is to ignore what Jesus said, and therefore not be living by God's standards (which are greater than ours) but by the standards of this evil, sickening society, which make me want to puke. I think I'd prefer God's standards and just be different and possibly hated than to conform to society and be away from the will of God.
MysterySk8er3 07-07-2008, 06:32 PM ^^Wow..Paul was right when he said people would be offended by the word.
Do you want me to not say the 'G' word and also begin saying "happy tree festival"?
I'm not offended at all. And you can say "god" all your want and I if the tree thing you mean Christmas? I call it Christmas. But the thing is, he took it to far by writing that letter and if he puts it out thats even worse. You guys can preach your religion all you want I have nothing against your beleifs. But when you start bring that stuff to people that want nothing of it is when it's just wrong. How would you guys like it if I wrote a two page essay on how god is not real and everyone that beleives in him is brainwashed. Although this is what I beleive I would not write about it and put it in puplic places because if the people that beleive already beleive, then they are already lost.
Andrew128900 07-07-2008, 06:52 PM If someone wants to come at me with their side of their story, I'll listen, cheerfully I might add. Any religion, or none at all. So I can't understand where you're coming from.
It doesn't matter what my religious beliefs are, I'm just saying it's wrong to push your views on others.
feedmegrease 07-07-2008, 09:27 PM So, is trolling this side of the forums a full time hobby or just part time?
I realize you along with the other people who enjoy flaming get some kind of demented satisfaction from it, but isn't it more fun to go skate something?
I wasn't trolling, nor flaming for that matter. I was saying that you shouldn't force your beliefs upon others.

Remember good sir that these people are choosing to read it. I guess you could reasonably get offended if it was sitting on a large red sign (except in a christian restaraunt) but a folded up peice of paper on a table...that's your own fault you read it.
If you were to do that and I read it, I certainly wouldn't want you fired from your job. I might read it and throw it away (assuming it was the same thing that Izzy is doing). But getting someone fired because you got offended by a piece of paper promising a better life is just absurd.
You can say you aren't offended, but we both know your lying. If you weren't offended then you wouldn't say you would get the person fired. Do you get mad when you stay at a hotel and see a Gideon Bible in the nightstand?
Just so you know, I don't know if I fully agree with what Izzy is doing either. I think it'd be neat to be like a Gideon and leave obscure pieces of paper somewhere with short and sweet messages on it.

I agree that it would be the fault of the person that picked it up and read it. However, if there is a folded up peice of paper there who isn't going to pick it up? I mean some people might think the people that sat there before them left it and maybe they could give it back. So you pick it up. With the length of that essay it is going to stick out pretty bad and almost everyone will pick it up without knowing what it is.

Everyone is different and there for has a different mind set on it and a different way of reacting to it. And I will admit i got a little carried away. I would not sue the person for that because 1. it would be taking it to far, and 2. it would probably cost me more then what I would get. The who "getting him fired" thing, well that would probably depend on the mood I would be in at the time. It's one thing to discuss stuff like that but it's another to jam it down there throat although it's the persons choice to read it but like I said before almost everyone would read it. Humans are naturally curious.

No i'm am honestly not offened at all. It's more of making an example of him meaning, keep that kind of stuff where it is meant to be and around people that already believe or ask for it. I nor probably anyone that would happen to eat there did not ask for his thoughts.

I'm glad to know that and with the bible in a hotel room. I have never opened one from there because it blatently (sp) says "BIBLE" on it there for warning me that I want/have nothing to do with what is inside of the book. So a little advice to you, if you or anyone else for that matter would happen to go along with putting stuff like that in restruants or where ever, make sure the people know what it is before the pick it up so the interested would read and the non-interested would know that they want nothing to do with there for not read it and there for nothing bad would come up from the whole situation.
P.S. - sorry for the long post and since it is such a long post i'm not reading through and editing it so im sure there are many mistakes. I also assume you and others wont read it or all of it. I know I wouldn't.
Berishman 07-07-2008, 10:12 PM Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Izzy, here's something you should take into consideration:
well... THAT IS ILLEGAL

And how such? The only law I could possibly see it going against would be the 1st amendment (though I don't think it is) and that's for lawmakers, not as a law itself. If that's illegal then lots of people I've seen break the law. I've seen plenty of Christian cards lying around people leave on tables and in the bathrooms. But, assuming you're right (for the moment until you tell me what law I'm going against), I say the same thing as Peter when he and John got arrested for preaching in the name of Jesus in Jerusalem the day after Pentecost, when they healed the guy. "Would it be more right to obey man rather than God?" (something like that.)

Taking what you said below about leaving a title on it or whatever, I think i agree with you.

Jamming it down someone's throat is not leaving a piece of paper somewhere. I want you to look the Christians who live in Islamic countries or China in the eye and say that you are getting it jammed down you're throat.

This is why I included Paul in my post to you, about people getting angry at the word. The Bible tells us to preach it, though there are better ways of doing it then I find in this thread. Jesus said it is not the healthy who need a doctor.

To be honest, you sound like my Grandma who got bent out of shape when I bought the Koran and had to keep it at her house for 2 days. She believed it invited evil in. Though I know you don't believe this, I see similarities. It is just a book.

Ok, it is not pushing it on you as much as some other things are from people but still, it is highly unnecessary to do what he is talking about doing and although no one is forced to read it, it would be sitting there and obviously people will read it. If people wanted to hear about that stuff they would go to church or some other big religious place.

I could care less if you guys preached the bible. But what you have to realize is not everyone is nice as me:). Some people will try to stop you preaching it in a different country. But preaching it to people that want nothing to do with it is just wrong. It's like for god beleivers that have to hear about FSM (hail FSM) when they don't want to. I'm sure most but not all get pissed.

Great I sound like a grandma. ... lol, I honestly don't give a rats ass about the bible. I have at least two of them in my house. One is about 15 feet from my bed. (closet that has a bunch of decerations and other **** in it). Believe it or not I go to a catholic church. Well I don't "go" , i'm forced. But anyway, if I see a bible I don't even think twice about I just go along with what I'm doing so I don't see where you got the idea I was so up tight about it because i agree, it's just a book.

Well..that isn't necesssarily true...but:
But preaching it to people that want nothing to do with it is just wrong.
Bingo. I highly agree here. The Bible even says that if people don't want anything to do with you, then you "dust your feet off and continue." This is one reason I am reluctant regarding this paper thing, you don't know who you are preaching to.
We seem to agree on all parts. :) God bless you.
MysterySk8er3 07-08-2008, 12:22 AM And i'm happy to agree. You are pretty chill man. And may FSM be with you.:icon_wink
