Yeah I just started learning fs lipslides and evry time I see lipslides done like in videos or anywhere, I notice that the board bends slightly and I might even hear little crackling under the deck. I kinda felt the same thing today and I'm skating a new board I just bought 5 days ago.
my friend said he broke like 4 boards while doing lipslides and he warned me to be careful. I really don't want my board to snap in half on me (it's a $55 crimson). should i keep learning them? is this really normal or do lipslides truely have a reputation for destroying decks?

buy a blank and learn it! That way if you break it it won't matter as much.
Also, would you rather learn a new trick and get that much farther into skating or have a deck?

the way you have to throw your back wheels over the rail causes alot of pressure on the middle of the deck,,,,,just get some blanks,, www.blankdecks.com ,,
I've broken many-a- board on lipslides.
But they aren't very harmful on flat, all mine have broken on handrails.

It's because you have to lift your entire board higher onto the rail to clear your back trucks over it.
Apparently FS Lipslides break decks more often than BS Lipslides...

sounds like you are trying to hard on the trick.... maybe popping over the rail a lil more than needed. ( i once had the same problem)..
you may have to try to learn it on something a lil higher... that will take the pressure off you deck a lil.
good luck

yeah, more on handrails/down rails than on flat.
but it does feel like you put so much pressure on the board on those tricks,
it always feels like my board is gonna snap.
